Aibu to be annoyed neighbours snake was found in our garden?

This afternoon we were greeted with this visitor (pictured) in the garden. Turns out when we asked next door it was there and has been missing for 2 and half weeks and had last see it going under there decking. I'm frightened of snakes, we also have a baby ,a toddler and a 7 year old.

Am i unreasonable that they should of informed us it was lost and that they would let a snake (regardless if it's a pet snake) roam freely outside and end up in someone else's garden. The thought of my toddler picking it up not realising it was real or it going near the baby or 7 year makes my stomach turn.

My DF said he would of killed it and DH friend same thing I do think snakes and spiders seem to be a big fear of people's. I'm just glad it's out of my garden. As for eating them as someone said I don't think I could stomach it 😆

Not trying to impress anyone. OP objected to my correction of her mistake, i responded.

MrsSpecter · 29/05/2016 20:50

It's a pain when people pull you up on grammar, isn't it?

No. I'm fine with it. I make mistakes like anyone. Happy to be corrected.

There's a lot of vipers on here tonight. Remind me, are they poisonous or venomous

God knows and I've no intention of finding out because I'd rather be shot than poisoned by one of them.

derxa · 29/05/2016 20:51

It's a very simple thing to get right. It's not dyslexia or predictive text
Exactly Ego btw welcome back to MN. I'm not stalking - honest Grin

If your 2yo is not old enough to understand that she should not touch animals she sees outside, she should not be there without supervision, tbh.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 29/05/2016 20:57

the point is that op was not expecting a corn snake to be in her back garden (why would she) so didn't warn her daughter

And at the age of 2 what child always follows orders given by parents Hmm

Stardust160 · 29/05/2016 20:58

The thread is going too quick to type so I am making mistakes Grin you keep me right Ego 👍 MrsSpecter are you an English teacher? Your attitude utterly sucks. Often when typing fast I tend to mistype or miss out letters due to my dyslexia. I often have to proof read things several times.I don't know what your aim is in trying to belittle me but I'm glad others can see through your behaviour.

Liara who said I let her outside on her own? Our garden is enclosed so I wouldn't necessarily expect to find a snake there for my DD to touch.

I don't know what your aim is in trying to belittle me

Well that wasnt my aim at all so i am sorry that you feel belittled. I was correcting an error. Like i said i am happy to be corrected when i make mistakes. I would rather know if i kept making the same one. Obviously not everyone is. There was no beittling intended.

derxa · 29/05/2016 21:04

I can't believe how this thread's going. Honestly I can't.

derxa · 29/05/2016 21:05

Don't feed it.

We have a grass snake living in the pond at the end of our garden. It's been there a year now, although I'm guessing it hibernated somewhere over winter. There was a bit of screaming from DD the first time we saw it but now we know it is harmless it's quite nice to spot it from time to time. It makes a change from frogs.
However if my neighbour had lost a pet snake I would expect them to mention it.

Beittling Grin .......pot calling the kettle black MrsSpecter

YANBU about Mr.Snakey the corn snake. I can only assume all these people who are cool with it have never walked in grass and brushed with a snake! It's definitely scary, and I don't have any kind of phobia!

On the dyslexia, is it possible to teach your predictive text 'should've' and 'shouldn't have' instead of should of and shouldn't of? I get round a few tricky words like that.

MrsSpecter · 29/05/2016 21:08

Greenyoga you seem to be impying there is something wrong with typing like that Wink

See you there ego

MrsSpecter · 29/05/2016 21:09

I didnt call you anything stardust Smile

like i said, i make mistakes like anyone. I have no problem having them corrected.

steppemum · 29/05/2016 21:11

we used to have a grass snake living in our garden. he was HUGE, a metre long and quite thick round. You would sometimes spot him sunbathing on a rock, or swimming in the pond. We regularly found his skin when he shed it.

It was amazing. I do understand it must have given you a shock, but it really is harmless, and we do have native snakes in this country.

Stardust160 · 29/05/2016 21:11

Green don't tempt me to convert to text typing 😈

MrsSpecter Talking about grammar when typing the letter I you use a capital not lower case that's pretty basic. I've noticed these numbers times throughout the thread. Just a heads up ✋🏻👌
