Aibu to be annoyed neighbours snake was found in our garden?

This afternoon we were greeted with this visitor (pictured) in the garden. Turns out when we asked next door it was there and has been missing for 2 and half weeks and had last see it going under there decking. I'm frightened of snakes, we also have a baby ,a toddler and a 7 year old.

Am i unreasonable that they should of informed us it was lost and that they would let a snake (regardless if it's a pet snake) roam freely outside and end up in someone else's garden. The thought of my toddler picking it up not realising it was real or it going near the baby or 7 year makes my stomach turn.

They are off their fucking heads Stardust

jusadepamplemousse thanks for your comments. I don't understand how other people seem to think it's nothing. Especially when I have a newborn and a toddler who don't understand ( 7 year old would know not to touch). Especially when DD who wouldn't of realise had she come into contact with it. I dread to think if she touched it I didn't realise and touched the baby. I might sound like I'm over reacting but I don't know if it has diseases e.g salmonella and even if it's not poisonous could of still bit her or the baby.

I knew before I opened this thread, that it would be a "would somebody please thnk about the children" type thread.

Stardust160 · 29/05/2016 20:20

Liara she is 2year old she wouldn't of realised it was real given her older DB has a toy snake. Big difference in a 2 year and a 6year understanding of things don't you think?

The children and me. People have a genuine fear and there are poisonous snakes out there. Not everyone is an expert Flowersandshit

There is a wild animal with teeth in the garden I know nothing about err damn right I'll be thinking of the kids.

Redbindippers101 · 29/05/2016 20:25

Stardust, a snake is only poisonous if it makes you ill after eating it. Some snakes are venomous, and some people are attention seeking and stupid.

MrsSpecter · 29/05/2016 20:27

there are poisonous snakes out there.

More likely to be venomous.

HelenaDove · 29/05/2016 20:28

I was told to leave my elderly cat outside all night in favour of the snake!

Stardust160 · 29/05/2016 20:28

Redbindippers101 is that a direct insult at me? If some il ignore that comment. Venom is a poison it a foreign agent that interacts with your blood cells causing your body to shut down.

Of course they should have told you

I am assuming you are in the UK we do we have grass snakes a a few adders that probably have contracts with the bbc as so rarely seen

We certainly don't have snakes that look like that and I would assume it's a poisonous snake

Stardust160 · 29/05/2016 20:30

MrsSpecter please just stop commenting you've been very sarcastic from the start

I would put money on some of the nasty and scathing posters on this thread being afraid of things some of the rest of us aren't afraid of.

Stardust160 · 29/05/2016 20:31

Enthusiasm yes I'm from the uk. I wasn't sure what type of snake he was his colour was quite bright but I wouldn't handle any snake for that matter.

We dont get to say who posts on our threads here at MN. Once you post your thread you lose all control over how people respond.

Terrified of birds. Petrified. I dont expect a heads up from any that intend to be in my garden.

I'm surprised they didn't tell you if they wanted it back, but possibly they just thought the snake was gone for good. However it's a completely harmless snake, so nothing for you to worry about and chances are your children would just have thought it was cute or interesting if they'd seen it. I personally like snakes, I think they are sweet (no kidding) but don't put me near insects or spiders!

BTW venom and poison are different things.

HelenaDove · 29/05/2016 20:34

It seems to get taken seriously in some quarters.

I really hate to admit this but my gut instinct would have been to slam a spade over its head. I am very ashamed to admit this

Stardust160 · 29/05/2016 20:35

notonyurjellybellynelly thanks for the support 😉 Unfortunately there's always a couple that seem to be rude or sarcastic in the hope of making you feel stupid. Then start on correcting my grammar even tho I'm dyslexic and have predicted text on my phone that I can't get off 😌.

YANBU. DH has a corn snake, and while I know it is harmless, it still terrifies me, in a primal fear type way. I can cope with it while it is where it is meant to be, but is escaped once, and we did not find it for a couple of days. It was terrifying, knowing that at any moment, I could put my hand in somewhere, and come across a striking snake! If I knew it had escaped, and was out of the house, I would definitely warn the neighbours.

FrinkadelicA12 · 29/05/2016 20:37

I'm with you blueberry...
