To ask how often you wash your hair?

Now, I shower every morning and sometimes have a bath in addition (as a luxury) in the evening. But I only wash my hair twice a week. Which I thought was pretty normal and acceptable until it came up in conversation with a friend who had a look of Shock barely concealed horror. She washes hers at least every other day and thinks it's poor personal hygiene to go more than two days without clean hair.

Perfectly fine with being called a scuzzy grunge pot (I really don't think I am!) but curious to know which of us, if either, you think is BU.

I am so jealous of anyone who manages even every other day! I wash mine every day, it's greasy after 24 hours no matter what and the bedhead I get is totally mental. I took roaccutane a few years ago and I was able to wash my hair every few days, it was absolute heaven. Was so heart broken when I had to stop taking it despite the nose bleeds, chapped skin, dry eyes, no alcohol- the bliss of not having greasy hair or skin was totally amazing. (I even rationed my dose so I could take it a month or so longer, very naughty but totally worth it)

Mominatrix · 29/05/2016 21:45

Every day - my hair is oily and would be disgusting if I let it go one day without a shampoo.

thebestfurchinchilla · 29/05/2016 21:52

mari look on the bright side; oily skin = less wrinkles Smile

captainfarrell · 29/05/2016 21:56

Without exercising I can wash mine, Sunday night, Wednesday morning, Sat am. But I have to try to time my twice weekly runs around this as it really annoys me if I've washed my hair and then fancy a run. I will actually delay my run cos I hate blowdrying and straightening too often as it takes so long. Without that my hair is curly and wavy in all the wrong places.

BG2015 · 29/05/2016 22:16

Captain. I'm the same. I try and plan running and hair washing. DP doesn't realise the pain of drying my very thick hair.

DontDeadOpenInside · 29/05/2016 22:17

About every 5 days. It's long, thick, wavy and luckily doesn't get that greasy. It ends up in a knot/bun thing with a blast of dry shampoo the day before its washed. I hate drying it. Gives me dead arms Grin

Salmotrutta · 29/05/2016 22:37

Every 2-3 days here.

I don't use "products" in my hair as I hate the feel of them plus my hair is very dry.

And I live in rural Scotland where 'orrible city grime doesn't exist so I don't have to worry about that.

ohtheholidays · 29/05/2016 22:39

Every other day,I used to always do it every day but I found cutting it down to every other day it looks and feels in alot better condition.

SoleBizzz · 29/05/2016 22:40

Every two to three days.

dillydotty · 29/05/2016 22:42

Every other day. Sometimes stretching another day if I can but I usually regret it by the end of that day. If I could get away with less I would but my skin and hair can be a bit oily.

Mari50 · 29/05/2016 22:48

thebestfurchinchilla- sadly roaccutane made my skin a bit thin so while my face looks relatively young, my 44 yr old neck looks about 80!!

OohMavis · 29/05/2016 22:52

I don't 'wash' it at all. Just condition it a couple of times a week. It's long, shiny and soft. I washed it every day for years and was convinced I just had shit hair, turns out I just needed to stop stripping it of all its oils.

limon · 29/05/2016 23:05

Every day.

EveryoneElsie · 29/05/2016 23:07

Your freind is being a bit silly. Doesnt she realise that if it really was a dirty thing to do she would have noticed?

I wash mine every other day because its greasy, so I have to. I actually think I do it more often that average.

FortyFacedFuckers · 29/05/2016 23:12

Usually everyday, occasionally I might skip a day usually Sunday if I am hungover if am not going out. Some days I will do it on the morning then do it again at night if I am going out. I don't care how often other people wash their hair unless it is very dirty looking, generally I am jealous that I need to spend so long washing & drying it when others don't.

kerryob · 29/05/2016 23:22

Every day too Sad it's very fine hair, I have lot of it and work right in the west end of London so feel grubby if I don't wash it. Doesn't help I get my dh to stroke my hair before we go to sleep!

Mycraneisfixed · 29/05/2016 23:23

Dry frizzy hair that never gets greasy so once a week if I have toSmile

Ludways · 29/05/2016 23:27

I used to wash it daily, such a pain, I was amazed when some one told me she only washed hers every three days. I now wash mine every 2-3 days, it's in much better condition and I'm happier to actually bother styling it more.

Foofoobum · 29/05/2016 23:30

Whenever it looks greasy. Might be two days, might be seven. As long as my fanny's clean and my pits don't stink, I don't really care about my hair. It's horrible and flyaway the day it's washed and often the day after too. It's usually only manageable and looking semi decent by day three.

pilpiloni · 30/05/2016 00:41

Twice a week or so here.

My hair tends to be dry and looks much nicer unwashed! If I washed every day it'd be like straw or I'd spend a fortune on hair products.

I'm also an evening shower person but don't like going to sleep with wet hair so need to plan to have sufficient time between shower and bed

Cineraria · 30/05/2016 01:00

Once a week maximum. I use a shower cap to avoid it getting wet otherwise. It is long (past my bum) and wavy. I wear it in a bun most of the time and I have very dry skin and hair, so it doesn't get greasy; I'm washing it more to remove any dirt and dust it picks up.

I forgot to do it at all for about ten weeks after DS was born but it started getting very tangly. It was lovely when I did wash it after that, really shiny and smooth.

LilySnape · 30/05/2016 01:02

once a week its bad to wash it often as all the natural oils get washed away and it gets dry and brittle plus im growing it out so id rather have "greasy" hair than wash out my hairs defenses more than once a week

Leta86 · 30/05/2016 01:20

Every 3rd day. I shower every day without fail, sometimes twice simply because I love it, but my hair goes to strike if I wash it more than every 3rd day. I've got a thick curly mane so it frizzes out in a bat of an eyelid.

Tatiana11235 · 30/05/2016 01:29

When my hair was long it was twice a week too because it was always in a ponytail or plait. Now that i have a bob i have to do it every other day.

thisishardwork · 30/05/2016 01:37

Everyday since I was a teenager. Would love thicker hair but with my sort of fine hair, couldn't leave the house without washing it.
