To ask what's the worst thing your kids have eaten??

Just caught ds 15mo attempting to eat a dead bug of some sort, wee minger that he is! Anybody elsr caught their toddler attempting to eat/eating something nasty?

Me: "SPIT IT OUT! SPIT OUT THE SNAIL RIGHT NOW!"
2yo DD2: gazes serenely at me, not spitting it out at all

Reassurance here haha, I felt a bit guilty that he'd almost eaten it!

I caught my son about to eat cat biscuits when he was not quite 2. Didn't stop him in time. Funny though, he never put anything strange in his mouth ever again after that.
My youngest, however, thinks everything is food. He is just past his 2nd birthday and I recently caught him trying to eat gravel and grass clippings. Can't take my eyes off him for a second, the little scamp.

Biscuit dipped in orange juice....

She's not too weird with her food tastes and has never been one to put things in her mouth.

Ds on the other hand.....when he gets walking I can see him being a terror. He's already tried to munch on a stone

A woodlouse, I had one of those slow-mo run across the room as she put it in her mouth and swallowed.
She's 12 now and still going strong

My toddler eats sand all the time and I'm dreading the day I don't manage to spot all dog poops in garden before allowing him out as I'm sure I know what he would go if he found it 😳

It's funny how when they are first born you go nuts trying to make sure your whole house is sterile! After catching ds licking the wheels on his pram, however, I was not so anal about sterilising everything

Picking ds up from school and Dd was pottering around the playground and I suddenly realised she was eating an apple which had clearly been half eaten by another child and discarded to roll around the playground

DS 20 months ate a huge lump of dry soil a couple weeks ago.

Neighbours must have thought I had lost it as I saw him at the end of the garden picking it up and looking at it. I was racing screaming 'NO!! NO!! NOT IN YOUR MOUTH!' But it appears I gave him the idea as he shoved it in fast as his podgy little arms would let him.

Then proceeded to look stunned. His eyes wrinkled, nose twitched, little tears formed at te corners of his eyes and his eyes widened into big huge disgusted surprise. And he wailed and tried to spit it out.
I took him inside, watched his mouth out etc.

Happened again about 20 minutes later
He doesn't learn. Dd never did this stuff. DS is a nightmare for it

Not my dc but my brother - ate a worm as a child. Apparently he didn't know where to put it he was 3 years old.

Dd eats all sorts, sand, dirt, crayons and deep heat (tried to eat play doh) ive always just managed to catch her so i can wash her mouth out or shes spat it out and the evidence is on her face/chin. She will eat literally anything which is good when it comes to food, i dont trust her anymore shes too sneaky

Dd will attempt to eat gravel sometimes, although I think it's more about testing boundaries because she gets a very cheeky look and waits until I'm watching to do it! She also likes to drink the rainwater that collects in the basket of her trike in the garden

DS1 whilst walking round a farm picked up a rabbit dropping and said 'chocolate!!' - I think I got there before he ate any...

DD kept trying to eat gravel yesterday She has definitely eaten dog biscuits.

Ds found a biscuit in a shop that someone must have dropped. Before I could stop him he'd nibbled it.

I suppose it's not that bad.

Ds2 has managed to eat a few bits of paper.

Dizzy that's hilarious. Kids are just so strange and so funny. Now that ds is over a year he is just the most amusing thing in the world and I totally understand why people have kids now haha

A huge furry tarantula spider that he found in the bath

A small white slug, bit into a tube of air fix model glue, his own poo (hands in nappy - vom) and a very dirty raw cabbage leaf (in Sainsburys). He's now 20 and still going strong.

A snail, followed by a dandelion clock. The resultant gloop brought to mind tarring and feathering [bleurgh]

Half a worm. I caught him before he could eat the other half.

Crickets by the side of the road in Cambodia (they were fried though).

I had DD overseas where cockroaches were rife. A friend's child ate a dead cockroach. I took her (and him) to hospital where she was reassured that it should pass through and be OK. He was alright but it still makes me feel sick to think of it.

That I slugged a slug dry and on the regular ate the cats wet and dry food!

ds2 ate ds1's poo straight out of the potty when he was 12 month old. I almost threw up when I saw it around his mouth.
DS1 ate (or should I say slurped) up a worm around the same age.
