My nearly 5 yr old was chewing on a straw one morning. When DH asked her where she'd found it, she said she'd picked it out of the kitchen bin. At the time, said kitchen bin was rather full and smelly, what with her sister's poo nappies sitting near the top

I remember playing with a slug when I was very small and tasting it on my hand when I sucked my thumb.

Apparently, I used to still the cat's kibble.

Loving these! 😂

Dd2 had a phase of walking up to me with a horrified look on her face and asking me "Mummy what happens if you eat" handwash, face cream and many more I can't remember!

The scary one was the "what happens if you eat those beads Mummy" one of the packets from a new purse... she'd already spat them out but she had to swill a ton of water after that one.

She's perfectly fine though! 😂

DD had a thing about the fake coal on the gas fire. We could not leave the sitting room door open, she would be found sitting in front of the fire munching on the black coal with a filthy face and hands. DH found her eating cat poo once too.

DS loved eating sand, he would eat it by the handful, his poor bottom would get so sore when it came out the other end. He would also eat sheep poo, would have to watch him when out walking in fields and scoop it out of his mouth.

Half a snail. The only meat she's ever had Grin

Ds (now 2.5) has eaten all sorts, including several dead spiders today (he's being goady as he knows it's 'yucky') but the worst was a slug when he was about 14 months. I despise slugs.

Rabbit poo, thought they were raisins.
A snail
Puddles
Gutter in the swimming pool.

DD1 would regularly eat the dry dog food if we didn't remove quickly enough any that the dogs had left over after eating! Luckily she has outgrown this rather disgusting behaviour Grin

DD2 once caught and ate one of our bearded dragons locusts that had managed to jump out of the vivarium when DH was feeding them. She was almost 3yo, I saw it happen in slow motion and couldn't seem to get to her fast enough to stop her. She was very happy with herself GrinBlush I can still remember hearing the crunch to this day!

Hamster chocolate. Because the hamster then bit her fingers since they smelled like chocolate.

Ds2, aged about 8 months sitting outside in the bumbo seat while I hung out washing, cringed when I saw him eating mud, cringed even more when I realised the 'mud' was actually rabbit poo!
Also ds2, the blue chemical thingy you get in the loo, in the gents, in a pub boak!

Shyposter · 30/05/2016 18:00

When DS (now 17) was about 8 he ate a magnet from a Magnetix set. After calls to NHS direct (as it was then) they reassured me that it would be fine if it was just one (two could cause all manner of problems internally as they could stick together through intestines etc).

He used to put all manner of things in his mouth - and I still find him absent-mindedly chewing on plastic yoghurt pots after he's eaten the contents (and when I say chewing, I mean it disintegrates under the strain.

I wouldn't mind but he's one of the fussiest eaters I know and steadfastly refuses to try new foods even now he's nearly 18 Confused
