Now the panic buying is over it seems to be back to normal. Where I live at anyway.

tinytemper66 · 27/05/2016 10:47

Good. Driving down from Calais in the morning. Staying near Vierzon. As long as I get there I am not worrying about getting back!

giantpurplepeopleeater · 27/05/2016 11:41

I took a faerry last night. Have now been driving across France for about 4.5 houra and have stopped 3 times.

Have not spotted any issues at all. We have been keeping the tank topped up just in case, but no isseues as yet and we are nearly at Bordeaux.

angus6 · 27/05/2016 14:56

Dh has driven from Calais to Paris and beyond to Orleans this morning. He says the motorways have fuel and there are no queues.

TiredMaofTwo · 27/05/2016 14:59

Hi I wanted to ask if you have stopped three times for fuel are you using a website that is telling you which stations have supplies? I am driving from Calais to campsite near Dol de Bretnagne in Brittany and feeling very nervous. Car is diesel.

Mistigri · 27/05/2016 16:44

There are no problems getting fuel here today (south of Toulouse). There are some short queues, of people buying tiny amounts of fuel because everyone wants to make sure they have a full tank, but no issues at all with availability.

Mistigri · 27/05/2016 16:46

I think the UK press were just behind the curve on this, they only started reporting about this on Wednesday when the situation was already starting to improve!

TiredMaofTwo · 27/05/2016 17:18

If anyone is driving Calais to Brittany today can you update on the situation please.

angus6 · 27/05/2016 19:03

Dh has driven from Calais today and is now close to the Spanish border. He has had no problems getting fuel all day.

Branleuse · 27/05/2016 19:10

we're going to normandy. Apparently most petrol stations do have fuel, you just have to queue

AuldAlliance · 27/05/2016 19:55

I'm in the South-East, near Marseille.

It was very, very bad on Monday and Tuesday when the depot at Fos-sur-Mer was blocked; there are still very long queues at petrol stations in many places, but on motorways it's not as bad because the price is higher.

It took me 30mins to buy petrol yesterday, between arriving at the petrol station and driving off again, but I saw a 300-400m long queue at a petrol station in Aix-en-Provence this morning.
I think people are constantly toppping up for fear of new shortages, which doesn't help.

Diesel is harder to find than unleaded.

I don't think you need to cancel, but keep your tank at least half-full.

I'd keep an eye on the French media to see if other action is announced (road blocks, etc.), though Valls has said some bits of the legislation may be tweaked...

sunnydayinmay · 27/05/2016 21:03

For those going Tunnel, there are queues at services in Folkestone, mind you. If you pop into Folkestone itself (junction after the Tunnel) there is a BP on your left which had no queue at all.

You can go back across the m20 to go the the back way to EuroTunnel.

wallybantersjunkbox · 27/05/2016 21:12

Change your route and keep at least a semblance of a holiday. Come through Belgium and Luxembourg until Strasbourg, then into Switzerland. Where you can stop for a brew at Chez Wally. Smile Petrol is cheaper in CH strangely.

You can drive down into France through switzerland or go to Italy.

I'd vote for Italy. And the weather here is awesome at the mo.

Birnamwood · 28/05/2016 07:08

We have travelled overnight from Calais down to Lyon via Rheims, Troyes, Dijon (A26, A5 & 6 ) and there were no queues and plenty of fuel

GirlOutNumbered · 28/05/2016 08:19

DH is on his way from roscoff. Will post update later if anyone still interested.

Bulletpr00f · 28/05/2016 09:17

Yes please girloutnumbered.

rollonthesummer · 28/05/2016 09:35

Any updates today? We are driving to Folkestone as we speak with a very full tank of petrol!

Birnamwood · 28/05/2016 09:39

We have been travelling through France since midnight and haven't seen a queue, nor no fuel signs. There a loads of petrol tankers on the road delivering fuel too.

Branleuse · 28/05/2016 10:08

Thankyou for the updates

GirlOutNumbered · 28/05/2016 12:14

DH has gone from roscoff to Le Mans so far. No problems, just getting petrol. No queue.

giantpurplepeopleeater · 28/05/2016 12:42

I stopped off the motorway and a-roads. Haven't used an app. Everywhere seemed fine but have kept the tank topped up in case. We crossed to dieppe and have come all the way down to Boyonne with no issues. Local petrol station in the town we are in (just outside the city) is fine.

Sky news reporting that the barricadeshave been removed by riot police.

GirlOutNumbered · 28/05/2016 21:14

DH drove to Grenoble today, the only trouble he encountered were two massive hail and thunderstorms, he said were terrifying.

No queues or any other signs of trouble. He is so glad he didn't cancel his holiday.

rollonthesummer · 29/05/2016 12:31

In France now/plenty of petrol stations with petrol!

oblada · 29/05/2016 12:51

Overreaction - it's fine, seriously, don't cancel and enjoy!!

CoteDAzur · 29/05/2016 22:18

Petrol is fine. Diesel is not.

I friend had to abandon his car by the road because it ran out of diesel as he was going from one station to another.
