It can be any sized poo.

OP posts:

I simply cannot comprehend why supermarkets would put the disabled spaces further away from the entrance than the P&C ones.

FutureGadgetsLab · 20/05/2016 19:36

Caravan we were talking about P&C spaces. I said you don't need to be in the P&C space if you don't have a disability, special need or a child.

How is that saying they're as needed as disabled spaces?

FutureGadgetsLab · 20/05/2016 19:36

Sooty me neither.

TurquoiseDress · 20/05/2016 19:37

OP seriously YABU

Honestly, get over it...or call the Police if it makes you feel better.

P&C parking spaces are a convenience, not a legally enforced human right.

I can't be arsed to read the whole thread - but if that is a parking space I'll take it.

Should it be a parent & child I don't give a flying fuck.

Get over it, OP.

I'm sorry about the Blue Badge. I thought you might qualify under effort or something for the 100 metres rule. My sister got it because at the time the effort of walking 100 metres would cause painful spasms elsewhere, like her hands. She now gets it because she can't walk that far.

FutureGadgetsLab · 20/05/2016 19:49

bastards no one is suggesting strangers go rubbing shit on windscreens except the OP. We're just saying everyone should be considerate and not use it if they don't need it.

I like making comments about invisible children

Someone said that to my DH once - he replied "she's in the boot"........

bastards no one is saying strangers should judge though, except the OP.

Just use common sense and if you don't need it don't park there. That's all.

Sooty

Supermarkets put P&C spaces closer to the store than disabled spaces because they don't care about disabled people. P&C spaces are to encourage people who'll spend a lot of money into the store. Parents are a target demographic. Disabled people are not a target demographic and not a group they care about.

My local Tesco has several P&C spaces right beside the door. The disabled spaces are along one side of a row of spaces, so they can be quite far from the door. It also involves going over a zebra crossing that drivers ignore. If they're in a big 4x4, I'm in my wheelchair and they're not paying attention, I'll get hit. I am very worried that someone is going to be seriously injured there.

I complained and the manager said they'd take the comment into account when they redesigned the store (this was two months before they did the redesign). When it was finished, the spaces beside the door were still P&C.

FutureGadgetsLab · 20/05/2016 20:00

bastards No. I'm saying you decide for yourself if you need it. If you know you don't need it and park there anyway, you are a dick.

Strangers looking on wont know the difference.

That sounds like my sister. She's got a complex movement disorder and dystonia. Remember the 100m rule is about what you can do safely, without pain, in a reasonable time and reliably. If your leg goes wonky and sometimes won't let you get out of the car, then I'd say you can't "walk 100m"

If you need any info, please feel free to PM me.

LarrytheCucumber · 20/05/2016 20:05

DD has a blue badge and she pointed out the same thing in Morrison's starsmurf.

Sorry, my cat managed to delete part of my previous post while trying to scrounge treats.

As the P&C space has no definition in law, I'd park there. You really deserve a Blue Badge as you have problems walking and getting out of your car. You need the space. Do you get problems if you've done too much? My sister could have her leg turn under, refuse to move or go into painful spasms hours after actually walking. That kind of thing still counts because the DWP guidance on the PIP form states that it's if you have problems before, during or after an activity.

I really hope you can get a Blue Badge, I can't understand why you've been turned down. I guess it's the problem with understanding movement disorders, people don't see what happens afterwards or how much pain it's causing you to walk.

whatsthatcomingoverthehill · 20/05/2016 20:15

Oh I do like a good P&C thread. Means I can remind everyone that in private car parks there is no legal difference between BB and P&C spaces. You cannot be 'prosecuted' for parking in a BB space, it is a civil matter subject yo contract law. (The legal requirement is a planning one that BB spaces are provided).

SolemnGrundy · 20/05/2016 20:25

People who argue against P&C spaces on the basis that they "managed without them" are being wilfully ignorant.

My parents had a Ford Mondeo in the 90s; it was 174 cm wide. A current Ford Mondeo is over 207 cm wide. That's an increase of 33 cm. Our local parking spaces have not changed in that time.

Add to the mix the more stringent car seat requirements and the introduction of removable travel systems for infants, times have completely changed.

For e.g. I came back to find my car (which I had deliberately parked in an empty area of the car park) sandwiched between 2 cars. I had to lie 4 week old DS on the passenger seat and reverse into traffic to allow enough room to get his car seat back in. After that I didn't go shopping for the first 15 months unless there was a P&C space free.

FutureGadgetsLab · 20/05/2016 20:31

SolemnGrundy you entitled bastard. Maybe you just can't drive/open doors properly?!?!,?!!! Wink

Foofoobum · 20/05/2016 20:34

Ah whatsthatcomingoverthehill so nice to remind people there's no criminal recourse to parking in disabled spaces. I often have real trouble getting a disabled space because entitled fuckwits think their only being 5mins and it's not illegal anyway, is acceptable.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 20/05/2016 20:48

I don't think people do need reminding of that, Foo, it's not exactly a secret.

Most people, and I mean MOST, wouldn't ever dream of parking in a disabled space.

I kind of revel in that in the same way that I think the 'giving blood' system in the UK is superior, we give it without being paid to, we just do it because we want to and we can... same thing with the disabled spaces, we could legally park in them without being disabled, but the vast majority, will not do so.

whatsthatcomingoverthehill · 20/05/2016 20:59

Quite. I'm only talking about the legal side. And whilst it's not 'illegal' to wrongly park in a BB space, you could still end up with a fee for failing to abide by the T&C of the car park. But in that respect BB and P&C are exactly the same.

Morally of course it is worse to wrongly park in a BB spot. I just get fed up with people spouting about the law when they don't know what they're talking about.

80sMum · 20/05/2016 21:05

I can't be bothered to read the whole thread, but in answer to the OP, yes you would be completely and utterly unreasonable!

Parent and Child parking spaces are a bloody great pain in the arse and should be banned!! They create a ridiculous sense of entitlement among certain groups of people, which pisses me off no end - and I am normally a very mild-mannered person!
