You should worry, OP.

A colleague of mine announced to a class of teenagers that she was going to watch Netflix and chill with her dog

Shock
fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 02/05/2016 05:34

I didn't know it either. But haven't used it, thankfully

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 02/05/2016 05:55

I only have freeview.

Freeview and chill sounds like you get your kicks through voyuerism.

Shirkingfromhome · 02/05/2016 07:15

Grin @ glory hole.

badtime · 02/05/2016 08:48

Sadmother, I have literally only ever heard the phrase in the context of threads (on various sites) full of people saying that they didn't know what it means. I spend way too much time on the internet and watching TV, so it really can't be everywhere.

TheoriginalLEM · 02/05/2016 08:57

Is chillax a euphemism now?

Grin

I didn't know either

Maybe your clients are impressed by your sexually wild and fun lifestyle and admire your honestly

Nepotism · 02/05/2016 09:55

I had to Google it when it was proposed by a 22 year old on POF. I'm 53 and politely declined.

Cheekypainter · 02/05/2016 10:04

Your not alone, I was using it a lot, until I said it in front of my 17 year old and her friend, and she went bright red, while her friend started laughing 😬 My daughter begged me never to say that sentence again lol

Sparrowlegs248 · 02/05/2016 10:15

Nope. Didn't know. (and I have ponies. Which I feed...... Should I refrain from announcing that?)

fatandlumpy · 02/05/2016 10:24

I used it for a FULL academic sodding year to all my second year Uni students. Most of whom are medical students.

I used the phrase when suggesting stress relief from exam revision and when they had any deadline overloads. (FML)

NOT ONE of the little bastards ever told me what it really meant and years later I am still cringing.

I did wonder why they all looked so confused when I asked them if they enjoyed their 'Netflick and Chill' sessions with their families every time they came from holiday.

(OMFG!)

Saw this today and thought of you OP :)

rockchick78 · 02/05/2016 13:30

I'm still laughing at half of the posts on here!

Slightly worried at the amount of people who didn't know what it meant... And I thought I was one of those people never in the loop ha ha ha!

tibbawyrots · 02/05/2016 14:20

I didn't know until today, either. So I casually dropped it into conversation at breakfast with my DD (20) and I could feel the look of shocked horror on her face as she painfully asked "do you know what that actually means" Grin

OH was almost pissing himself laughing!

candykane25 · 02/05/2016 14:32

MN told me a couple of weeks back. Neither me or DH knew.

I still forget out to say Kanye despite asking other people at least once a month or so.

HidingUnderARock · 02/05/2016 16:02

so "chill" now means "casual sex".
wonderful :-/

Thanks for the headsup.

NattyGolfJerkin · 02/05/2016 16:11

What is "feeding the pony"?

NattyGolfJerkin · 02/05/2016 16:13

Ah, ok. Urban Dictionary has informed me. Riigggght

NattyGolfJerkin · 02/05/2016 16:14

Apparently, 'peel the prawn' is something too. I think UD makes this shit up.

PuppyMonkey · 02/05/2016 16:16

I never knew this either. Oh well. Can't say it makes me feel ashamed or embarrassed not to have known something I have never needed to know about. Confused

Natsku · 02/05/2016 16:27

Clearly I spend too much time talking to teenagers as I knew this ages ago. And watch out if you tell someone that you're 'thirsty' as that means horny now.

PlymouthMaid1 · 02/05/2016 18:05

This is news to me too. Luckily I don't have Netflix. I am surprised that I haven't heard it more as I teach teens.

Skivvywoman · 02/05/2016 18:12

If it makes you feel any better I said to my ds who's 17 one night do you fancy a Netflix and chill.... His reply was steady your my mum!! I don't know what it actually means but by his horrified reply in guessing you don't Netflix and chill with your mum!!

GlassCircles · 02/05/2016 19:23

Wasnt it one of their advertising slogans? I thought people were embracing it rather, er... readily. I had no idea.

GlassCircles · 02/05/2016 19:27

DH on the other hand had never even heard of the expression in the first place, bless.
