I've been using this phrase to my dd!!

using it to clients to describe what i might do on my day off

No one thought to take me aside??

I found out what it meant via teenage DSs who were laughing at a FB post made by poor new year 7 girl who, in all innocence, had put that she'd had a great afternoon "Netflix and chilling with dad"

Oh dear. You're going to have to find an age-appropriate way to explain to DD before she uses it in school...

I discovered what this meant about 6 or so months ago in a similar thread on MN. I told dh, who already knew given that he is younger than me 41 vs 44!

This is so funny, seen the phrase around loads but didn't know the meaning.

The Buzzfeed article makes it look like "chill" now means "have sex". In that case, I've definitely been making my life sounds far more interesting than it is.
