I found out what it meant via teenage DSs who were laughing at a FB post made by poor new year 7 girl who, in all innocence, had put that she'd had a great afternoon "Netflix and chilling with dad"

BeckyWithTheMediocreHair · 01/05/2016 22:39

Oh dear. You're going to have to find an age-appropriate way to explain to DD before she uses it in school...

imip · 01/05/2016 22:41

I discovered what this meant about 6 or so months ago in a similar thread on MN. I told dh, who already knew given that he is younger than me Hmm 41 vs 44!

jobrum · 01/05/2016 22:42

It means what!! Shock

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 01/05/2016 22:47

I am a secondary school teacher.

Let's just say I discovered what it meant too late. After a class discussion about the weekend. Oh the shame.

Mamabear1980 · 01/05/2016 22:47

This is so funny, seen the phrase around loads but didn't know the meaning.
Glad I don't have Netflix or would have been saying this too.

OhMrBadger · 01/05/2016 22:47

Neither me nor DH have heard it before. But then, we don't have Netflix... Not a euphemism

...is it ok to say "kicking back with Amazon Prime"? Or is that too much of a mouthful, so to speak?

squoosh · 01/05/2016 22:50

HOW can this phrase have evaded so many of you?

Tsk.

BennyTheBall · 01/05/2016 22:50

Well, I never.

Slightly worried I may have said this to my 17 year old son.

squoosh · 01/05/2016 22:51

I told someone I was going to Netflix and chill by myself

'I'm planning on having a big old wank'

Grin
PuraVida · 01/05/2016 22:51

Ah. I said this to my 20 year old niece in response to her saying she was going home to her sister and granny Blush

sizeofalentil · 01/05/2016 22:57

We're ttc so call it Netflix and Child*

*(because he is giving me the D… tmi?!)

TwoLittleBlooms · 01/05/2016 23:09

I have just had to google it, I had no idea!

SuperFlyHigh · 01/05/2016 23:13

Dear oh dear I'd heard of this before (on tube) but innocently thought it meant literally to have a duvet day just the 2 of you and watch Netflix back to back and relax. Not to have Le sex or anything of the sort! -actually I probably did guess it meant playing naked Twister too

Good god.... Adjusts Halo

NotDavidTennant · 01/05/2016 23:16

Someone please help educate an old gimmer here: what happens if you don't have Netflix? Does that mean you never get a shag?

thecatsarecrazy · 01/05/2016 23:16

Well I had to google it I had no idea. Thought it was what it said. Must be getting old

summerdreams · 02/05/2016 00:31

I did not know this Blush

HarrietSchulenberg · 02/05/2016 01:01

I am 45 and did know what it meant.
I wish I'd been as clued up 34 years ago when I announced to my friends that my sandwich filling that day was pussy cheese.
How was I supposed to know that no-one outside our family had a cat that loved Dairylea?

Abbbinob · 02/05/2016 02:24

My aunt bought my young teen cousin a nighty with Netflix and chill written on it, she had no idea what it meant Grin

Sadmother · 02/05/2016 03:00

How on earth are there this many people around who don't know what this means?

GarlicShake · 02/05/2016 03:25

I didn't, either!

Feed the pony? Teabagging?? I can't spend all night looking up slang! Should I be scared of saying anything at all in case it's rude?

The Buzzfeed article makes it look like "chill" now means "have sex". In that case, I've definitely been making my life sounds far more interesting than it is.

Sadmother · 02/05/2016 03:29

Feed the pony and tea bagging are not exactly in everyday parlance though.

Sadmother · 02/05/2016 03:32

Well it does depend who is speaking Grin
But Netflix and chill is EVERYWHERE, I am just surprised there are people who don't know what it means.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 02/05/2016 03:37

This is new to me!
Thabk God I only have Amazon Prime. (or is that a euphemism for masturbation?)

GarlicShake · 02/05/2016 03:41

I piggy-back on my sister's Netflix Grin Glad I haven't told anyone that in RL!
