Theres not many Marthas about is there? and ive just gone to look in my inbox and martha sent me a message when my mum died, if its the same martha then i dont get whats happened.

shazzarooney99 · 27/04/2016 23:22

perhaps i should be really cynical now!!!!

StKildasNun · 27/04/2016 23:22

Haven't read the whole thread

I see they quote lots of websites - Daily Mail Netmums brings up stuff, and Daily Mail Reddit seems to have more quotes than Mumsnet so they are nicking stuff from all over.

PrinceHansOfTheTescoAisles · 27/04/2016 23:22

I was thinking this earlier today as another news outlet ran a story which was essentially "woman says something on mumsnet". It wasn't an exciting thread but I bet the OP didn't want it all over the internet where it might be seen by the person she was posting about. Also it's just very dull, reading articles about mumsnet threads. I find it bizarre that it constitutes news.

BerylStreep · 27/04/2016 23:24

Crikey, I think I have just stumbled into a parallel universe. Can anyone tell me how to get home?

MarthaCliffYouCunt · 27/04/2016 23:26

It is bizarre. What is so intriguing about what a bunch of people say on a chat forum? You could eavesdrop on some parents at coffee morning and get the same shite. Do they post stuff off other forums like money saving expert or golden retriever forum or some comic book forum? Confused

shazzarooney99 · 27/04/2016 23:27

BerylStreep, well its the first left on the second street, down the 2nd right ont he 4th path to first left and do a semi circle!

cuntymailjournos · 27/04/2016 23:28

Beryl

I've been here for a while, still none the wiser, but we all hate dmjournos.

MailonlineEffOff · 27/04/2016 23:29
Confused
shazzarooney99 · 27/04/2016 23:29

StKildasNun , think we all need to become journalists then!!!! because we could all do that!!! its a piece of piss!!!!

StickTheDMWhereTheSunDontShine · 27/04/2016 23:36

I think it might be bedtime.

BerylStreep · 27/04/2016 23:37

trawling MN threads is even lazier journalism than submitting FOI requests, which piss me off no end. I get to spend my working week effectively doing journo's research for them rather than actually doing my job, and then they get to do the big reveal as if they are some sort of flipping Poirot character. Hmm

WhatTheActualFugg · 27/04/2016 23:38

Either way, there's no way they're going to lift this thread. How the fuck would they summarise anything Shazza has said?

kipperydippery · 28/04/2016 00:02

It is quite sad in a way. I'm a very old MNetter. I have a query I'd like advice on & I'm not going to post it because of the fucking daily fail.

I don't want FIL reading it over his cornflakes.

MNHQ - is it possible to make a safe space for longterm people, ie signed up 5 or 10 + years ago. I know there is a tucked away place at the moment which I won't mention.

I really value the input I've had from MN over the years, particularly the SN boards - do the cunts at the daily fail have access to those?

WhatTheActualFugg · 28/04/2016 00:13

I know there is a tucked away place at the moment

WTF... err, why don't I know about this?

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 28/04/2016 00:38

I'm truly disgusted and yet not at all surprised that this has happened. I know it's available and open to read for anyone who clicks on MN anyway; but there's something so sordid about it being posted in the Daily Fuckers Fail, especially given the mindset of some of the wankers people who read it. :(

GooseberryRoolz · 28/04/2016 00:48

I was going to PM you fugg but then I realised that I don't know how on the app Blush

PaulDacresKnobCheese · 28/04/2016 00:55

New name specially for this thread :) I'll try and remember to use it when posting on any "juicy" threads.

Re fudging details though, if we all change our dds to dss, add or subtract ages, change where we live, pretend we say sofa when we say settee or whatever, won't we end up matching another mumsnetter - so my article about my husband's weird fetish for cheese will have details exactly matching some other random person, who will end up being outed in the dM?

This is a really difficult one for many of us.
I'm one of those posters why has, in the past, posted for advice & support under my usual name & not changed any details. I know HQ advise us to name change, & alter details slightly, when posting about really sensitive & possibly identifying stuff - that's fair enough. But then you run the risk of getting the annoying idiot who'll search your name & post 'welcome to mumsnet', i.e.: they don't believe you. So basically, unless you're posting something really boring or stick to your usual name, you run the risk of getting it in the neck from the troll hunters.
But this is the Internet so anyone can see ( & comment ) on what you post.

Thebrowntrout · 28/04/2016 07:06

The other problem is if it is a sensitive issue and others report your post, HQ will then ban/suspend your account if things don't add up.
