To feel it's 'un-manly' for men to use anti-ageing skincare?

Found some in bathroom. They are not mine and a high-end brand marketed at men. Not sure why I feel shocked about this but feel it's not manly. Am I being sexist or does anyone else think men shouldn't use the kind of lotions and potions we use?

You're being ridiculous.

curren · 20/04/2016 07:01

Yabu. His face, he can do what he wants.

Does using sun tan cream make him unattractive to you?

Yes it is sexist. And if someone is put off their partner because they slap some cream on their face, the relationship sounds a bit shit.

FruStefanOla · 20/04/2016 07:02

YABU.

DP uses more skincare than I do!

Ginmakesitallok · 20/04/2016 07:02

Yabu.

TurnOffTheTv · 20/04/2016 07:02

Good god how ridiculous. Shocked? Really?

Eyre89 · 20/04/2016 07:02

What ohmy said ^

TrixieBernadette · 20/04/2016 07:03

No one should use even half the lotions and potions they do on their skin, male or female. It's ridiculous.

Smileandwaveboys · 20/04/2016 07:05

YABU and sexist yes.

VashtaNerada · 20/04/2016 07:05

Only in the sense that it's "not womanly" for a woman to use anti-ageing skincare products! Or do you actually mean that it's acceptable for men to age but not women?? I think you know YABU! Grin

SanityClause · 20/04/2016 07:05

If a man is using them, then surely by definition it's "manly"?

YouAreMyRain · 20/04/2016 07:06

It's not "unmanly", no. But it is less necessary for men to worry about ageing when they face much less age based discrimination than women do.

carlaboyle1984 · 20/04/2016 07:08

Omg I'm being totally sexist aren't I? He just doesn't need it and he's a manly bloke so I was just a bit shocked as not him to use eye cream, serum and day and night cream.

And what? Why should that stop and adult doing something?

Op you say he doesn't need it. But quite honestly that's not for you to decide. I have a very simple skin care routine, looking after my skin is something I do for me. Not for dh, or anyone else.

If he wants to give it a go, it's nothing to do with you. How would you like it if your dh told you what you could or couldn't do based on wether it was 'womanly'?

My hobbies are all hobbies that far more men do than women. I would piss myself laughing If dh pointed out my hobbies arent lady like.

Narp · 20/04/2016 07:12

Nah, all it shows is that men have now succumbed to the bollocks that we have for decades.

I think it's a good idea for anyone to use a moisturiser and sun block

Anti-ageing my arse!

WellErrr · 20/04/2016 07:13

I've reported this as it reads like lazy journalism.
I'm not answering the OP as I don't want my comments to pitch up on TWS or in the DM in a day or two.
MNHQ can check it out. Apologies if I'm wrong OP but there's been too much of it lately.

Narp · 20/04/2016 07:13

... and what Trixie said

carlaboyle1984 · 20/04/2016 07:13

I haven't said anything as its his business I just saw all this skincare and serum and eye cream out of nowhere. Maybe I'm being unreasonable your right.

VinceNoirLovesHowardMoon · 20/04/2016 07:14

carlaboyle1984 · 20/04/2016 07:15

You mean he didn't sit down and break it to you gently?

'Darling, I still love you...but you need to know.....I have started using moisturiser'

Really?

mangocoveredlamb · 20/04/2016 07:15

Perhaps he looks like he doesn't need them because they are working so well...
