To feel it's 'un-manly' for men to use anti-ageing skincare?

Found some in bathroom. They are not mine and a high-end brand marketed at men. Not sure why I feel shocked about this but feel it's not manly. Am I being sexist or does anyone else think men shouldn't use the kind of lotions and potions we use?

You are being stupid.

carlaboyle1984 · 20/04/2016 07:18

I think obviously it's just the norm now. Maybe I need to move with the times. I just remember when I was younger you didn't get anti ageing expensive products for men. I guess it's different now. Maybe I'm a bit old fashioned ha!

Move with the times? You're only 32 surely...

carlaboyle1984 · 20/04/2016 07:26

Your right. Sorry to offend anyone. Xx

carlaboyle1984 · 20/04/2016 07:27

If you are 32, I would find it surprising if you hadn't come across a man who uses facial care products by now, they've been producing man ranges for 20 years!

sonlypuppyfat · 20/04/2016 07:30

No I'd think it was a little odd, it would make me think they were vain and I think that's a turn off.

DelphiniumBlue · 20/04/2016 07:34

Not as bad as hairpray.
And someone mentioned fake tan.

IlikePercyPig · 20/04/2016 07:34

I use more skincare products than my wife Grin

curren · 20/04/2016 07:34

I am 34. Your age has nothing to do with it. These products have been out years

BlueMoonRising · 20/04/2016 07:39

Ilikepercypig - surely that means your wife is 'unwomanly'!!!

;)

carlaboyle1984 · 20/04/2016 07:40

Yes I have but just shocked cos my husband used be happy with a bar a soap and not vain and now it's serum, eye cream an day cream and night cream (expensive branded ones) I know they are available but didn't think all men used them and just couldn't imagine my husband even caring. Obv I'm totally wrong ha

ohmywhatamisaying · 20/04/2016 07:42

Ok I'll bite - are you worried he is having an affair?

Twowrongsdontmakearight · 20/04/2016 07:45

Going against the grain I'd be pretty horrified if DH started all that. I like that he showers and shaves and that's that. But then again I'm lucky if I remember to slap moisturiser on myself!

carlaboyle1984 · 20/04/2016 07:47

Ohwhatinsaying: did cross my mind but know he's not. He is just soooo blokey and I didn't think he even knew what a serum was. Hard to describe unless you met him and maybe I shouldn't have used word in manly but he is just soooo er bloke ish.

OP posts:
curren · 20/04/2016 07:47

All men don't use them. All women don't either.

Some women don't use them for years then start. Or use them for years and then stop.

TheNaze73 · 20/04/2016 07:47

The amount of threads that say my OH, is letting himself go, doesn't look after himself etc etc & then this?! What would you rather him do?

carlaboyle1984 · 20/04/2016 07:50

@thenaze73 Good point!

BertrandRussell · 20/04/2016 07:52

Op you should cut out the middle man and LTB. He's either having an affair or gay.

BisherBasherBosher · 20/04/2016 07:57

BiscuitHmm

carlaboyle1984 · 20/04/2016 07:57

Bertrand Russell. It occurred to me too. Just because it's such a change in behaviour. But then I thought nah. Probably suddenly felt his mortality!
