To feel it's 'un-manly' for men to use anti-ageing skincare?

Found some in bathroom. They are not mine and a high-end brand marketed at men. Not sure why I feel shocked about this but feel it's not manly. Am I being sexist or does anyone else think men shouldn't use the kind of lotions and potions we use?

Sorry- forgot to use the special "don't be completely daft" typeface.

curren · 20/04/2016 08:16

Ffs so men can't do anything different or they must be having an affair.

There you go OP, you need to LTB, end your marriage all because you found some face cream in the cupboard

PurpleDaisies · 20/04/2016 08:17

Isn't it obvious Bertrand is joking?

carlaboyle1984 · 20/04/2016 08:20

My husband uses stuff and has botox! But he does work in a girly job. And you can tell it's a girly job because the pay is crap compared to other jobs at that level. I don't care if this is on telly, I think it's funny they are this desperate for material. We have been out of the UK for about 17 years now and image in our industries is important. I think people do make judgements as soon as they meet you and it's true that, fairly or not, thinner attractive people do have more success. That's life.

RubbleBubble00 · 20/04/2016 08:22

If he's manual worker then he prob needs cream. Dad found he needed a good day cream to stop oil at work irritating skin and he used to get a very dry sore face so then he'd use a night cream

betsyderek · 20/04/2016 08:28

OP isn't a troll or a journalist. 6th form Psychology student presumably but that's ok. Someone has to help these kids, clearly their education system is failing them in the basics. I don't really mind answering questions that people want to hear about, whatever their motivation. I have an interesting background as husband is under my sponsorship because the ceiling on his earnings is so low and also I travel. I have a "manly" job in the ME and spend time crawling down pipes and working offshore. I earn more but he works harder.

VashtaNerada · 20/04/2016 08:31

OP has admitted they are BU, I think we can lay off a bit now!

carlaboyle1984 · 20/04/2016 08:37

What is BU?

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 20/04/2016 08:41

Being unreasonable.

firesidechat · 20/04/2016 08:42

My husband brought hes first anti aging cream two months ago, hes very manly and id wish he had done it sooner as his face is the best thing about him and his age is really showing around the eyes. If he doesnt talk i could look at his face for ages, he is a looker but the effect is ruined when he talks as hes talks utter bullcrap.

ohmywhatamisaying · 20/04/2016 11:20

AdrenalineFudge · 20/04/2016 11:33

Glad that's sorted. he he x

betsyderek · 20/04/2016 11:38

Never rule out botox...easy to he he about it when you are 21, you just wait 20 years Grin

betsyderek · 20/04/2016 11:42

And I don't think it's unreasonable to have these little prejudices, we all do deep down. My own is seeing men dragging those kiddy tents along on their bikes. I want to shout grow a pair at them. Totally unfair and unreasonable to have an irrational desire to shout at someone who is after all being a good and involved parent. But I still want to egg them.

Bejeena · 20/04/2016 11:43

I don't even use eye cream, day and night cream and the like myself so personally would definitely think it is unmanly and bad for the environment to be honest.

betsyderek · 20/04/2016 11:49

Why is it bad for the environment?

Paperbacked · 20/04/2016 12:48

Does that make you 'unwomanly' because you don't use cosmetics? Hmm

smalllondon · 20/04/2016 12:52

If a few items have appeared all at once I would imagine that he either bought a set - or a sales assistant got him in a shop and uphold the whole brand.

VestalVirgin · 20/04/2016 12:55

Yes you are, but yes, I do think no one should use all this stuff. It doesn't really stop you from aging and is a waste of resources.

Women who don't use the stuff themselves but think it is unmanly to use it, confuse me.

I consider it stupid (even though I am not wholly immune to vanity myself and occasionally fall for the false promises) , but as I am of the opinion gender roles should be discarded, "unmanly" is a word that simply doesn't exist in my vocabulary.
