I was in a shopping centre today looking through a shop window when a toddler ran past me and tripped over my foot. I felt awful (even though I didn't move or trip her on purpose) and instantly apologised to the child. The child was screaming (really didn't fall that hard but Obv upset her) I said to mum I was so sorry and asked if she was ok? Mum picked up the child, turned her back to me and whispered 'stupid bi*ch' I said (loudly) 'i said I was sorry I didn't do it on purpose!' She continued to ignore me as she walked off.

10 mins later in another shop I saw the mother with her toddler again. Her friend looked at me and said people like her make me sick! I just walked off gob smacked.

Aibu to think she was out of order? She plainly saw what happened and that it was an accident. DP said not to get so worked up but I can't help feeling a bit upset and angry lol

You're DP is right, it's not worth getting worked up over. You will come across plenty of plonkers in your life!

Someone called me a stupid bitch when they reversed their car into mine. It was literally nothing to do with me-I was parked with the engine off. Some people will start a fight with themselves. Just forget about it.

I had someone pick me up on the fact that I kept bumping into her chair Completely unintentionally. Didn't even realise I was doing it. I apologised. That should have been the end of it, but no She kept going on about it. Talking about me like I wasn't there. Don't know why she did that them, blah blah. I turned around and said. That's the nature of the British, we apologise when someone else has done something wrong! The child tripped over you, not you tripped the child up.

She should have had her child under control, and if you were looking at a shop window, I presume you were quite close to the window, so the child ran in front of you.

Some people could start a fight in an empty room. It must be exhausting to live like that. I don't think it's worth getting angry over - just laugh at them instead. Or, as ESD suggests, trip them up...

It's not worth getting het up about op, but sometimes the injustice just gets to you, doesn't it.

i was wondering this weekend why people seem so angry a lot of the time...I was shouted at and called 'ef*ng c**t' by another driver when i had stopped at a narrow bridge to let people coming the other way have a turn ifykwim...driver behind me ( a young lady looked mid 20's in nice enough car0 lent out her window and shouted and swore at me....for what ? making her wait a few extra seconds.
I could hear what she said as i have convertible and had roof down.
really what has happened to society that politely allowing some one else right of way causes such anger ?

God how awful and what sort of example is this mum setting her child? Swearing at people in the street and recounting the twisted story to a friend, probably all in her child's earshot.

I saw the same thing happen recently. The child fell and smashed it's head so loud we all heard the crack. The mum apologised to the woman who he bumped into! it was the child's fault not yours. The poor woman who bumped him was there frantically checking him aplogising.
It's one of those things, it's how we learn to look where we are going. Although in your case the child will learn it's not their fault whatever they do.

I was called a "fucking stupid old bitch" when I got out to swap details with an older "gentleman" who had just squeezed his car past mine and damaged his wing mirror pushing into mine (which was OK) as he was on the wrong side of the road I was rather put out.

Ilivein I had that too. Accidentally spilt some drink on a woman's back at a gig. Apologised profusely but she kept turning round and giving me the most horrific "how could you" looks and telling all her friends like I had done it on purpose.

Recently I was walking in local park when an off the lead dog running ahead of its owner got under my feet and tripped me up - I turned to smile at owner to show no hard feelings when she snarled at me "wasn`t I going to effing apologise to dog" as it happened I certainly was not!

I had something similar a couple of weeks ago, a little boy ran straight into me, At the time I was nearly 8 months pregnant, a little waddly and sometimes unsteady on my feet. Anyway little boy runs up to me, smack into my little hard belly and my baby jumped out, luckily I had my sister with me who steadied me before I went toppling over like the skittles in Noddy. Said little brat boy went off screaming to his mum who then had a go at me for my UNBORN child assaulting her son. Assaulting! ha idiot. I calmly told her that if she wasn't so busy screaming at someone on the phone, she'd have noticed her son running full pelt down the Trafford centre into some innocent pregnant lady. My baby boy bump kicks my 6yo niece in the head all the time, she claims to love feeling it, I think she's a bit of a sadomasochist myself.
