Bought a leg of lamb the other week, brought it home and bunged it in the freezer.

got it out to have for dinner yesterday. Opened up the pack and it was HONKING.
really unpleasant smell.
However label on the pack said there would be a smell and it would fade so gave it the benefit of the doubt.

Seasoned it and cooked it.

took it out of the oven and it was still a bit smelly-tasted it and it was rank.

everything else was ready-potatoes, veg etc

dh had to run out and buy chicken breast from tesco express and we had to cut it up and flash fry it. everything was past it's best by then. chicken breast bought at 8pm from local store = £10!!!!

tweeted asda today-no response
phoned them to be told to take the stinky bloody wrapper out of the bin and take into store for a refund. Asked about the cost of the chicken i had to buy to replace the lamb and the guy said 'well you ate it didn't you?'

never again asda- never again.Angry

Where on earth do you live whete Asda is full if shouty psrents and women ready to knock your pan in?

The Peterlee store (the one Jamie Oliver went in in that School Dinner series) is like that. It's so awful in there that I'm the one usually ready to lamp someone.

TattyCat · 11/04/2016 23:46

Asda here is awful - I opened a packet of cheese the same day I'd bought it - it was mouldy. The store is grubby and it's generally a horrible experience.

But, I'd never buy meat from a supermarket - always use a good butcher and never have a problem.

DingbatsFur · 11/04/2016 23:56

Asda stole from me.
I ordered online.
They cancelled it due to issues with their driver, but said they could reorganise the exact same order for the next day and give me £5 off.
Sure says I.
Next day they appear. Order's good. Happy days.
But wait.
3 days later I discover I have paid for the same delivery twice. Once for the delivery they cancelled, then again for the delivery the next day. It took 2 weeks to convince Asda that I had not intended to take the EXACT same delivery 2 days in a row.
I had many long chats with their South African customer aervice department who 3 times promised me it would all be sorted in a matter of days.
I tweeted.
I facebook messaged.
It was not until I accused them of stealing and said I was going to the police that they gave me my money back.
NEVER AGAIN ASDA! Never.

Namechangingbastard · 11/04/2016 23:58

I love Asda! My local is clean and friendly. I find their food generally good and their prices are great. The anti Asda brigade love a good crusade!

Beeziekn33ze · 12/04/2016 00:16

This mum goes to Iceland for Slimming World ready meals and basics. The staff there are unfailingly pleasant and helpful.
A couple of years ago my stuffed M&S turkey crown turned out at Christmas Day dinner to contain no stuffing whatsoever. I complained and was sent vouchers for the full price. We had eaten the turkey and very good it was too - but we do like some stuffing. And I didn't have a handy pack of Paxo in the cupboard.

Loving the Flowery Twats Fawlty Towers quote :o

I wouldn't have gone and bought new meat, I'd have just had the rest of the meal

ReginaBlitz · 12/04/2016 00:51

Asda are twats. They sent 3 days out of date chicken breasts in my first and last online shop from them, I'll stick to sainsburys.

Went to asda few weeks back, got a few bits and a bottle of diet coke. Went to the self check out i noticed when scanning that the bottle wasnt full on close inspection it looked like the gas seal had been broken but the seal round the lid wasnt. I told the guy on the till, i said can i have another its been opened...he looked at me and said its been opened....i said yes its not good enough can you get me another....he said you want another? (long pause while he thinks) you have opened this....i said what! no i havnt ...he said you cant change it.... i said OK fine i wont buy it then! He said OK!!! His superior came over and said go and change it. He was about 18 and clearly up himself. I had to laugh as he was just repeating what I was saying. Clearly no brains which is a lot like a lot of the staff at my local store! Sorry to anyone who works at Asda Im sure it doesnt apply across all employees :-)

gingerdad · 12/04/2016 07:40

But you're meat from a butcher and you'll never buy any of the shite sold in the major supermarkets.

megletthesecond · 12/04/2016 07:43

We had a rare visit to Asda at the weekend. I got in a hump because they only sold one type of fair trade tea (a really expensive brand) unlike sainsburys whose own brand tea is all fairtrade.

ouryve · 12/04/2016 10:05

We don't have a butcher, gingerdad.

Many people don't.

And plenty of the butchers that we do pass on our travels sell meat of unspecified origin all bathed in pink light. No thanks.

I do stock up from a fairly local farm, once in a while, but that's not always practical.

squoosh · 12/04/2016 10:09

Where on earth do you live whete Asda is full if shouty psrents and women ready to knock your pan in?

Govan! I saw a guy attack the Asda security card and poke his fingers in his eyes till blood was trickling out.

I'm always a bit baffled by people declaring that 'whatever supermarket are twats' because one person once made an error in one shop. You could start a thread about any retailer and people will join in to say how crap they are - there are good and bad branches and good and bad staff in everywhere, even Waitrose Shock

Fwiw, my local butcher has stickers on everything saying its previously frozen so not always the better option.

SooBee61 · 12/04/2016 10:42

Asda makes Tesco look like Fortnum & Mason.

Mynameisdominoharvey · 12/04/2016 10:47

I ordered shopping from asda when heavily pregnant with ds. Paid over 100 quid as it was a big shop, waited in for the delivery and it never came. I phoned the store to be told that the driver couldn't find my address and had returned to the store, despite the fact I ordered from there at least twice a month. I received no phone call despite them having both my numbers. I told them that he should come back with my delivery only to be told that it was too late. I then queried why they had taken my money and asked for it to be returned. Sure they said, it Will take 7 to 10 working days (it was a Friday Angry) I lost the plot, hormonal and unstable, had a minor breakdown on the phone as not only had they taken the last of my wages I was left with no food, washing liquid, household items etc, and had to borrow from my parents. I was livid especially when the money too 2 weeks to be returned. NEVER AGAIN ASDA!

JoffreyBaratheon · 12/04/2016 10:54

No-one in my family has ever shopped in ASDA. They could dip George Clooney in chocolate and sell him for 50p and I still wouldn't step foot in there.

Long story but ASDA started as a group of dairies in Leeds. They used threatening and bullyboy tactics to railroad every other dairy in the city out of business. My family had a dairy in North Leeds for a couple of generations and were almost if not the last to be intimidated out of business (my grandad sold up to them, but held out for a number of years despite all kinds of sinister business).

More recently they were bought by Walmart who are owned by evangelical christians and don't (or didn't maybe they have changed) allow union labour.

ASDA started off with those kind of values. There's no reason to give them money.

[email protected] and [email protected]

Andy is the CEO and the other email is for the directors office. Youll get answers here. I suggest you also complain about the lack of service, reply on Twitter and that you took your custom elsewhere! Good luck x

WaitrosePigeon · 12/04/2016 10:56

Asda is totally vile.

MitzyLeFrouf · 12/04/2016 10:58

Oh Mynameisdominoharvey I'd have hunted someone down and killed them for that! Definitely a reason to boycott the company as a whole.

Everylittlething87 · 12/04/2016 10:59

Squoosh - I think you've been watching a bit too much Game of thrones - WINTER IS COMING! Grin

LagunaBubbles · 12/04/2016 11:01

Govan! I saw a guy attack the Asda security card and poke his fingers in his eyes till blood was trickling out

Ive missed that excitement then, Ive shopped in Asda Govan for years and never seen anything like that! Likewise Ive been in Asda Linwood weekly for years, and its nothing like some of the stories on here!

romanrainsalot · 12/04/2016 11:02

Not a fan of Asda either. Mainly their fruit and veg is either never on the shelf (bar the last mouldy apple) or is all soggy.

Tesco meat been off last couple of times - joints as well.

Back to Morrisons. No problems, especially now their prices seem to have come back down again.

JoffreyBaratheon · 12/04/2016 11:02

Every at least if winter is coming, their meat should get properly frozen...

EnglishCow · 12/04/2016 11:03

Can I just ask was that New Zealand Lamb, one of the half price deals.?
