There is a silent war going on in my house

Whenever I hang a new loo roll I do it so the loose sheet hangs away from the wall as this is obviously correct. Then DH turns it round so the loose sheet hangs by the wall. So I change it back, and DH turns it round again. Every single time.

He has to be doing it deliberately. I should LTB, shouldn't I?

My cousin and her SIL had a big argument about this very issue and didn't speak, as a result, for about a year.
The advice 'choose your battles' comes to mind.

Lacystacie · 12/04/2016 15:59

Your right I've heard you put the sheets on the outside to promote money coming into your house ,if its the other way you're promoting it to leave ! (Probably crap but I do it that way) 💸

GlomOfNit · 12/04/2016 17:45

How people think that it could ever possibly be right or sensible to hang it facing the wall just amazes me.

If you have a tiled wall (as we do) with insufficient insulation (as ours has) then you'll get condensation on the wall at times, so the sheets will STICK to the damp wall. Quite apart from the fumbling around on the Dark Side of the Roll that this entails.

My MIL is evidently a sheets-to-the-wall adherent. I had a lot of fun over Easter, switching them round, she'd switch them back, I'd switch them round again ... evil Grin Small petty revenges...

KittenOfWoe · 12/04/2016 18:23

Glom I find myself doing the same at friends' places. Can't help myself!!!
Ps: love your name Grin

Someone in my house hangs toilet rolls the wrong way, and nobody will admit to it!

I always hang with the paper to the wall. This stops it from unravelling and is also easier to tug off one handed. My mother and her mother did it this way.
I have a toilet separate from the bathroom, so it is not tiled and doesn't suffer from condensation.
I beg to differ that ALL hotels hang theirs the opposite way. The ones I've been in usually do it my way, or have a dispenser...otherwise I would turn the roll round!!

bonnerbebe · 12/04/2016 19:15

Poppycock! The end of the roll should face towards the wiper, not the wall. While I write this my baby is doing a poo on my lap (in her nappy, thank the lord, definitely an up the back one). Thus, she agrees.

SistersOfPercy · 12/04/2016 23:38

Today I have thrown all loo roll in the house into a white wicker basket. Dh has yes to question where the chrome pole has gone to.
I shall win this war.....

Giggorata · 13/04/2016 05:37

I am abashed to own up to the (decades) length of time it took me to suss out how to remove the spindle thingy on the loo roll holder....
DH obviously still has no idea, as he never involves himself with replacing it.
(Away from the wall, obviously. Thick I may be, but I'm not uncivilised)

trinity0097 · 13/04/2016 05:42

I am forever doing this at work! Of course itMs meant to hang off the front, you don't want to be accidentally touching the wall!

KP86 · 13/04/2016 07:37

That is all.

Pull out but don't tear, use it then roll it back up again. That'll show him.

Member251061 · 13/04/2016 09:40

I couldn't cope with that!
You're right, he's wrong. Could you build a second loo somewhere & have one each?!

NoMilkNoSugar · 13/04/2016 09:49

Against the wall! How else will you see the spider in the loo roll? -don't Google that image-

BigChocFrenzy · 13/04/2016 13:40

YANBU Hugh
This shows you are a more highly advanced lifeform than your DH
< but is anyone else astonished that he realised there isn't a loo roll fairy ? >

Loo paper against the wall has so many hidden dangers, watch out Shock!
