There is a silent war going on in my house

Whenever I hang a new loo roll I do it so the loose sheet hangs away from the wall as this is obviously correct. Then DH turns it round so the loose sheet hangs by the wall. So I change it back, and DH turns it round again. Every single time.

He has to be doing it deliberately. I should LTB, shouldn't I?

Hide the loo roll and just take in what you need when you go...that'll teach him!

WiIdfire · 11/04/2016 10:25

Interestingly, I read your thread title and said to myself 'that'll be about loo roll then'. Obviously more common an issue than you'd think!

whatdoIget · 11/04/2016 10:27

I don't care which way it hangs. I just hang it whichever way it happens to come out of the packet. I couldn't tell you which way it's hanging now. Is that weird?

DadDadDad · 11/04/2016 10:35

whatdoIget - the voice of reason, I'm with you. I don't have a preference - at least, consciously: I wonder if subconsciously I always do it one particular way?

DadDadDad · 11/04/2016 10:36
Confused
LordoftheTits · 11/04/2016 10:37

You're correct OP, I think you need to leave and find a new husband who wasn't raised by animals! Grin

Seeyounearertime · 11/04/2016 10:42

Remove toilet roll holder, keep toilet roll in a drawer.

Simple.

Seeyounearertime · 11/04/2016 10:43

I should ad dthat me and my GF have a bathroom each. In my bathroom it is hung against the wall, in her bathroom it's permanently empty because she cant be arsed to unscrew the loo roll holder when it needs changing.

SilverBirchWithout · 11/04/2016 10:44

Any DH who actually puts the loo roll on the holder is a keeper in my book. Mine doesn't usually attempt such a complex task. Confused

But he is doing it the wrong way,

YoJesse · 11/04/2016 10:46

YANBU this is how you're taught to do it in hospitality jobs.

Ludways · 11/04/2016 10:48

We have a double holder, one side is away from the wall (correct) and the other is towards the wall (wrong). It preserves the marriage but I expects dcs will need therapy in years to come

MartinaJ · 11/04/2016 10:48

The loose sheet HAS TO HANG AWAY FROM THE WALL. Shouty capitals because that's the truth and nothing but the truth!

AngryAnnie · 11/04/2016 10:49

You are most definitely right. I was explained this by someone who manufactures toilet rolls - to show off the embossed pattern it has to be away from the wall, otherwise you don't see it. Smile

Whatthefoxgoingon · 11/04/2016 10:56

You are right. All ads, hotels and the loo roll holder patent support you. You absolutely cannot be wrong. Ignore the crazies on this thread.

PixieChops · 11/04/2016 10:56

YANBU op. In fact I'd just like a H that actually changes the roll. Sometimes he'll put a new roll next to the empty one but he never ever changes it.
I'm packing his bags now and LTB as we speak.

EarSlaps · 11/04/2016 10:57

We are fighting the same war in our house. Chin up soldier and fight on!

EveryoneElsie · 11/04/2016 10:58

Superglue it in place. That'll teach him.

whatdoIget · 11/04/2016 10:58

DadDadDad are we the only 2 posters on this thread who don't care about the toilet roll position??
I think standing to wipe is very weird though

howabout · 11/04/2016 10:58

You are wrong because your way on average causes more runaway loo roll incidents and also more likely contact between hands and unused part of roll.

My DH and I have similar war going on for past 24 years. I have not LTB because every so often I shout at him to "LEAVE THE F*ING LOO ROLL AS YOU FIND IT". He then behaves for the next couple of weeks or so. I am in charge of bathroom upkeep (after 10 years of negotiation) so I get to decide.

soggyweetabix · 11/04/2016 11:08

I'm a convert! I was a committed 'against the wal'l loo roll hanger, but after reading this thread I have realised the error of my ways.

I will now be rehanging my loo roll away from the wall from now on.

Mumsnet. it changes lives.

DadDadDad · 11/04/2016 11:13

what - I suspect most normal people who see this thread think "meh" and don't bother posting, leaving the field open to those who feel strongly.

Perfectly reasonable to stand up to wipe bottom, don't see what the fuss is about

pigsDOfly · 11/04/2016 11:13

Of course you're right OP. Against the wall means you're scrabbling around to grab the hanging piece instead of it being there waiting for you to take hold of it.

One of exh relations used to come to our house from time to time and would always go to the loo no matter how short the visit. Every time he would turn my properly hung roll round so it was against the wall; probably the only reason he went in there. At least your DH lives in the house with you. Who goes into someone else's house and turns their loo roll round?

HeffalumpHistory · 11/04/2016 11:18

You are of course correct! Tell your dh to do it right or leave it alone Grin

HeffalumpHistory · 11/04/2016 11:22

YANBU op. In fact I'd just like a H that actually changes the roll. Sometimes he'll put a new roll next to the empty one but he never ever changes it.

I have this issue with DP. Why is it so difficult for them to put the empty roll in the bin which is RIGHT NEXT to the loo & put the new one on the holder???? Angry
Getting in a rage just thinking about it & he's not even in the country at the minute

MLGs · 11/04/2016 11:26

You are doing it the right way.
