Is former Labour Minister and SDP politician, Lord David Owen right to think that TTIP will be detrimental to the NHS?

And yet you largely seem to link to the Sun and the Express. You're not going to find any facts in there, Daisy.

MyHovercraft is that the only word you know? I'll send the cash for a new dictionary to a PayPal if it helps.

Here's a couple more for you that seem relevant.

Sneering, patronising and condescending.

I really wish I was getting paid for this. That'd be ace.

JassyRadlett · 11/04/2016 23:34

We must all avail ourselves of as much reading matter on subjects that interest us as we can, that includes the Guardian and the Mail actually but no source as a sole source.

Go further - look beyond all media reporting to the source material wherever possible. As well as their own agendas, media outlets can operate a form of groupthink. I once heard 3 journos come out of an event and one asked the other two 'OK, so what's the story out of this one?'

JassyRadlett · 11/04/2016 23:37

Drummer, was that a veiled dig at me for suggesting that if the UK government had blocked anti-dumping tariffs as a PR/political manoeuvre rather than acting on the substance of the issue, it was not the best course of action and one they may now be regretting?

Sorry, I think that's my fault.

butteredmuffin · 12/04/2016 15:17

So who do we believe, the Daily Express (which is owned by a man who reportedly make a personal £300,000 donation to UKIP) or the International Monetary Fund (as reported by the taxpayer-funded and politically impartial BBC)?

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36024492

See, I know how to do links too.

I've got to dish the tea but I really think I have the right to read around all the papers, which I do and post from them.Im a busy Mum and others are busy Mums who need a bit of info.

butteredmuffin · 12/04/2016 16:40

All we're saying is that if you want to be taken seriously, you should be a little more discriminating in your choice of sources. The Daily Express is not exactly known for being a "quality newspaper", nor is it likely to present the facts in an unbiased way given that it is owned by a major UKIP donor

Daisyonthegreen · 12/04/2016 17:01

Who on earth do you think you are saying "we" .
Trouble is you really don't want any Mums to have a voice or know anything.
I will try and source the letter and who signed it.

lurked101 · 12/04/2016 17:05

Sorry daisy I agree with buttered. No one is going to take seriously posts from the mail, express or telegraph because of the way their owners set their agenda and because of said owners vested interests.

lurked101 · 12/04/2016 17:07

Article also conflates lack of NHS funding with funding Brussels. And is only signed by 50 people, not even one percent of the work force.

I wouldn't bother Daisy. They already know everything. Must be amazing to be the font of all knowledge.

You must be doing something right D which is why they feel the need to gang up on you and make snide remarks.

Good thing is the general public know what's what which is why the latest opinion polls put the Brexit vote 3 points ahead.

HelpfulChap · 12/04/2016 17:12

Ha ha Hovercraft did you come up with that all by yourself?

I notice another sly dig about being uneducated was slipped in there.

It was the Remain posters that came up with TeamLurked not me.

Jazzy, not a veiled dig at all. Hindsight is a beautiful thing.
Nobody said it was the best course of action but I seem to have missed the part that you said it wasn't the best decision made by this government. Something I whole heartedly agree with by the way.
Grinsee we can agree with some things.

HelpfulChap · 12/04/2016 17:38

The reason she shouldn't bother is because the remain camp are losing the argument with the 'great British public'.

The latest two opinion polls have seen 4% & 6% swings to Brexit putting them in the lead. That's three today.

You need try and widen your circle of influence outside TeamLurked.

Although you probably shouldn't bother wasting your time either really.

butteredmuffin · 12/04/2016 17:42

"Trouble is you really don't want any Mums to have a voice or know anything."

That's not true at all, Daisy. I want mums (and everyone else) to be as well-informed as possible. I just don't think the Daily Express is a good source of information. If more people were better informed then I doubt Brexit would be leading in the polls. The impression I get from most people I know who are planning to vote for Brexit is that they have not fully considered the consequences at all. And it's not even their fault, for the most part. There is so much inaccurate and misleading stuff out there - much of it in the Daily Express.
