A vote for staying in the EU is not an endorsement of conservative policy, its a vote for a large issue.

Oh and there is a comma in that sentence, so it reads that Boris is another elitist alongside as well as the multi millionaire front bench.

StepintotheLightleave · 08/04/2016 18:07

The information I read which summed up how many Labour voters felt about the party came from The Guardian.

It also came from the mouths of Labour MP's after they lost the election and why and how. Lost touch, arrogance, don't represent the working man/woman of this country anymore....

Corybns own stance on this is interesting isn't it, because he wants to vote out, but has been gagged to support stay in Grin

SpringingIntoAction · 08/04/2016 18:09

Oh it is. You know it is. A vote to REMAIN is an endorsement of Mr Cameron's recommendation.

What did Irving say last night on QT? The EU is just Another layer of rich autocrats who control the proles....

Layer upon layer of faceless powerful rich people we have not elected, abusing power to control us all.

SpringingIntoAction · 08/04/2016 18:12

Very true.

Spring. Pay attention. Right.

There are two options on the ballot paper. There are more than two political parties in the UK.

The six biggest political parties in the UK are the Conservatives, Labour, Lib Dems, UKIP, Greens and the SNP.

Of those six, four are supporting "remain", one is supporting "leave", and the other (the Conservatives) is split pretty much down the middle.

This line of argument is not making you look very intelligent.

Logical reason for leaving the EU- if I don't like the way parliament is behaving I can campaign for change in an election. If I don't like the way the EU commission is behaving, then tough luck on you.

StepintotheLightleave · 08/04/2016 18:31

Yes indeed.

How do people propose to get rid of the Burocrats?

Its an extremely frightening situation. Especially in the light of recent events where the ECJ The European courts of Justice have been accused of abusing its procedures.

That court is the highest legal authority , we are entering dubious waters indeed if its showing signs of corruption. But it doesn't surprise me.

Its widely acknowledged that the EU is a failed not failing project. I dont see how it can be viewed otherwise.

butteredmuffin · 08/04/2016 18:34

littledrummergirl, that is a much more sensible point. Thank you.

Unfortunately, due to our unfair and unrepresentative voting system in the UK, my vote will never count for anything unless I move to a different constituency, so I can't vote to get rid of the Tories any more than I can get rid of the European Commission. And what the UK government does affects our lives far more than what the EU does.

That's why I can't understand why all the people voting for Brexit because they think the EU is undemocratic (a perfectly legitimate point of view) haven't been actively campaigning for electoral reform since they reached the age of 18 and realised what a joke the whole system is.

Until this EU debate, I had literally no idea people cared so much about democracy.

The Regressive Left
This is a section of the Left who hold politically regressive views by tolerating illiberal principles and ideology for the sake of multiculturalism. Within the specific context of multiculturalism, Maajid Nawaz coined the term in 2012 to describe "well-meaning liberals and ideologically driven leftists" in GB who naively and "ignorantly pander to" Islamists and helped Islamist ideology to gain acceptance even though it is in opposition to life in the West.

It's also section of the left that hesitates to challenge some of the bigotry that can occur within minority communities also for the sake of political correctness. They tolerate the intolerant simply because they come from other cultures.

Spring. Pay attention. Right.

Ah, welcome back #TeamLurked, with your fresh set of hectoring orders. How did the squash go. Did it feel goooooood imagining you were beating Boris' head?

No shit Sherlock.

True. However the Government position is to recommend that we vote REMAIN.

If you vote REMAIN you are supporting the recommendation of the Tory Government.

No way out of that no matter how much mental contortion you attempt to make.

This line of argument is not making you look very intelligent.*

Lol! You flatter yourself Grin

Christ, Spring, I really hope you are trolling.

Right, I'm at the gym, my squash court is now free, time to whack some balls.

StepintotheLightleave · 08/04/2016 18:50

Camerons an Innie and Corybns an outie Grin

what a conundrum

butteredmuffin · 08/04/2016 18:51

I have a full-time job as a lawyer, thanks for your concern though. I'm on annual leave this week.

lurked101 · 08/04/2016 18:52

Cut, you're starting to sound a bit loony now, nobody pandered to Islamists the Labour Government even brought in new anti terror laws and the racial hatered act in order to be stricter.

ButteredMuffin should understand that abusing other posters is not pleasant and is not a substitute for ButteredMuffin's lack of any coherent argument for voting REMAIN

Less charitable folk could have great fun ripping the piss out a name like ButteredMuffin. Don't. Biscuit

People on both sides are intelligent. I want us to stay in and I think we will vote to stay in but there are legitimate arguments of people with a different view. I don't think this NHS issue is a particularly important one compared with others those in favour of Brexit bring forward.

I am pretty sure the british people will be sensible and vote to stay in which is what most Tories want and most socialists too (much of the protection of employment legislation is from the EU which is why many on the left want to stay in).

You mean more like gardening leave.
