To wonder why people insist on posting about 'MN Royalty'?

Because it's always an insult.

But no-one is ever named.

If you do it, what do you mean? Why do you do it?

Does it ever cross your mind that long-standing, non-name-changing posters might be very hurt by your accusations?

If you're going to do it, have the courage of your convictions and name names.

I think it is a way of shutting down a poster, usually preceded by, 'Oh her comes.....'

....the SN Brigade
.....the Professionally Offended
....Mumsnet Royalty

I am proud to have been called the first 2 (and would quite like a badge) but am too forgettable for the 3rd!

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meGoes · 02/04/2016 21:02

I avoid the favourite MNer threads, so haven't seen it used in a bumlicky way, but can well imagine.

There are only 2 people on here whose name I remember from one thread to another. One because she is pretty offensive on many, many posts about children with SN and the other because in the main she is pretty funny and very often spot on. Other than that I can safely say I am oblivious to MN royalty.

Sparklingbrook · 02/04/2016 21:03

Calling people 'Mumsnet Royalty' but not actually naming them gets around the Talk Guidelines very nicely.....

FunnyUsername · 02/04/2016 21:03

I think people get far too invested in MN, to the point where they can't separate it from real life. Such a trivial thing to concern yourself with.

Sparklingbrook · 02/04/2016 21:03

What? MN isn't RL? Nooooooo! Grin

Shutthatdoor · 02/04/2016 21:04

Exactly. It is all very sneaky.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 02/04/2016 21:04

I haven't seen it used for ages. But when I have it wasn't in a good way. I like recognising names but I don't think that's the same as there being MN royalty.

I would love a favourite mnetter thread. They always go so well.

Conniedescending · 02/04/2016 21:05

No it isn't a compliment. It's a dig at the sometimes cliquey snideness of long standing members

It is usually a dig, used by a poster who feels uncomfortable saying "I disagree with " and use MN royalty instead.

I would be interesting to see the number of life time posts or years of membership displayed next to user names for a day, quite possibly many unknown posters are royalty themselves, but namechange a lot.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 02/04/2016 21:07

Real life can be overrated.

And creepy wee brackets.

Shutthatdoor · 02/04/2016 21:07

What? MN isn't RL? Nooooooo!

Sticks fingers in eats and sings lala lala

Shutthatdoor · 02/04/2016 21:08

*ears

justdontevenfuckingstart · 02/04/2016 21:08

It's always the same tho, I was on MSE for a long time, over there it was 'the clique' there will be people that disagree with that I have no doubt. Fav poster threads and have you seen X for a while are always uncomfortable. Probably the posters don't want the recognition. But if you're longstanding and a good poster it will inevitably happen.

Sparklingbrook · 02/04/2016 21:08

Yes, that would be interesting pax, there must be lots of longstanding 'royal' posters who namechange almost daily.

MrsKoala · 02/04/2016 21:10

Do they go badly then? i never get past the first page as my bum is so firmly clenched and i am cringing so much i have to quickly read something about a toxic MIL or P&C spaces rant to restore my MN zen.

WTAF was the point of posting this? This just demonstrates my point. People who love to have a dig at other posters, but won't actually say who they are.

Cowardly as well as unpleasant.

"Sometimes cliquey snideness" of long standing members. Yy to this...have seen it many times in the past. I could name names but they've all name changed now so I don't see what it would achieve!

Sparklingbrook · 02/04/2016 21:10

Always get deleted MrsK.

Funny

I doubt, very much, that people here can't distinguish people on the internet from people the engage with in real life. But here's the thing. In real life, people generally don't hide behind their computers to insult other people.
