My DD who is 3 has been having stomach/bowel problems for the last year. Diagnose as constipation. She can not pass a stool for weeks despite fantastic diet and laxatives and weeks is in severe pain most days. She is very petite and skinny but her stomach has swollen to look 9 months pregnant. Getting no where with doctors/hospital etc.
Aibu to think this is not how a heathy child's stomach should look.

I've been keeping an eye on this thread OP. I cannot believe they sent your dd home without seeing whether the enema worked. I'm so sorry you are going through this.

TheFairyCaravan · 01/04/2016 21:26

I've been following from the beginning. I'm disgusted at the treatment your poor little girl hasn't has been getting. I'm shocked that they would administer an enema and send her home without seeing if it had worked.

I agree with the others let her rest for now but any changes for the worse please take her straight back.

Flowers for you all.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 01/04/2016 21:27

OP you are doing a fantastic job of advocating for your girl here- keep at it, she is lucky to have you
And this thread is heartwarming and MN at its best, everyone rooting for you.

Cagliostro · 01/04/2016 21:27

I am astounded they sent you home. I don't know about enemas admittedly, and I guess I was wrong in thinking it would shift it all quickly :( I can understand sending an adult home but a tiny child? FFS :( this is ludicrous

3littlefrogs · 01/04/2016 21:28

There is no way they would leave an adult in this state.

I agree that if there was a question about a fractured limb nobody would be quibbling about radiation. A plain abdominal Xray really isn't a huge deal.

40somethingwonderful · 01/04/2016 21:30

Please take her back in

PainAuChocolat23 · 01/04/2016 21:34

So sorry to hear of all the trouble you and your dd have had Flowers

SophieofShepherdsBush · 01/04/2016 21:40

I've been following this and checking for updates. I can't believe what your little girl has had to go through. I truly hope she gets some relief soon. You sound like a very good mum to me. Trust your instincts. Flowers

VagueIdeas · 01/04/2016 21:41

I can't believe they haven't checked for a complete blockage in the gut. The fact the enema didn't work makes you wonder what's preventing the faeces from moving down into the rectum? They didn't figure ANYTHING out and just told you to go home? I can't believe how negligent they're being.

MadisonAvenue · 01/04/2016 21:44

Just when it seems like you're getting somewhere...I can't believe she wasn't kept in, that's ridiculous. You said that she's behaving how she does when toxins are in her system? Please, take her back to the ward.

I can't even begin to imagine how stressed and worried you are Flowers

littlemaemae · 01/04/2016 21:44

The ward doctor is calling me back very soon.
Nurse said it should have worked.
I am expecting to take her back in.
She has woke up crying in pain twice tonight now then fallen back into a deep sleep.

cestlavielife · 01/04/2016 21:45

She must be in such a lot of pain but do used to it she won't know what is pain free. Go back tomorrow demand x ray. Tell them you prefer to x ray to know what and where the blockage is. Also if she hasn't been growing there is something more than a bit of constipation .

Good much better you go and dont leave til an x ray done tomorrow. They can do x ray on Saturdays they would if she had suspected broken limb.

perfumedlife · 01/04/2016 21:47

Please for the love of god, take her in and don't leave until her tummy goes down.

MunchMunch · 01/04/2016 21:47

Surely the end is in sight?! She must be absolutely exhausted bless her.

Purplebluebird · 01/04/2016 21:48

You're doing so well, looking after your little girl. Shame the enema hasn't seemed to work :( Do take her in tomorrow. I wish you luck, and will keep following the thread. Crossing fingers for you.

Libitina · 01/04/2016 21:48

Deep sleep? Is she rousable?

InformalMother · 01/04/2016 21:48

Your poor dd and you Flowers

When your dd is sorted and you're feeling stronger I would definitely complain about the lack of care your dd has received.

SquidgeyMidgey · 01/04/2016 21:52

Dear god littlemaemae I hope someone medical steps up for your DD now. I hope you get a swift resolution and your DD is happy and healthy soon.

ChocolateTeacup · 01/04/2016 21:52

Your poor DD I hope you can get it all out soon

PunkrockerGirl · 01/04/2016 21:55

Nothing to add, but thinking of you.
You are doing a fantastic job Flowers

landrover · 01/04/2016 21:57

Sadly unfortunately, doctors rarely take mothers intuition on board. (I lost a child because of this). I would say take her back and do not bring her back home until it has been sorted. The very best of luck and best wishes though xxx

RunswickBay · 01/04/2016 21:57

I would take her back in too

LollipopViolet · 01/04/2016 21:58

Your poor DD, I really hope the end is in sight for you now.
