My DD who is 3 has been having stomach/bowel problems for the last year. Diagnose as constipation. She can not pass a stool for weeks despite fantastic diet and laxatives and weeks is in severe pain most days. She is very petite and skinny but her stomach has swollen to look 9 months pregnant. Getting no where with doctors/hospital etc.
Aibu to think this is not how a heathy child's stomach should look.

Hope you're sitting in domestic bliss by now LittleMaeMae Grin
That all sounds really positive-and well done tonking the movicol down her too.
I'd definitely give the Senna later on, it can be quite crampy, I know you will ever do I g anyway, just remember lots of water too.
You 'sound' a lot better today, hope it's the case.

littlemaemae · 31/03/2016 13:59

We are having what looks like melted chocolate streaming down her legs which is great as its starting.
Will leave the Senna till tonight, thanks for the advice on that.
She is refusing the pull up! I guess she will realise herself they are needed soon enough.
My HV has made so phone calls and is going to make sure the referral happens.
So things are looking up.
I'm wondering if I need to delay her starting the new nursery at the end of the Easter break but will cross that bridge when it comes to it.

Yeah that there is some movement. Hope she feels more comfortable soon.

scampimom · 31/03/2016 14:03

Yay! The [poop] fairy has arrived!

So glad things are starting to move. Let's hope she feels better for it soon.

lazyleo · 31/03/2016 14:20

Been following this thread and very glad to see things are starting to move now. Hope you get your referrals soon so as to avoid repeats of this in future.

QuimReaper · 31/03/2016 14:20

loafs of poo Grin

PegsPigs · 31/03/2016 14:27

Pleased to hear it's starting to move but if any GP thinks it's OK to not poo for 6 weeks and then to have it come out by streaming down your poor 3 year old's legs then I despair of your GP. You will be her best advocate so well done for sticking St it.

RunswickBay · 31/03/2016 14:32

Yay! Poo! So pleased things are moving a bit

Gileswithachainsaw · 31/03/2016 14:35

💩👍🏼

MeanwhileHighAboveTheField · 31/03/2016 14:59

Ooops "loads" of poo might be betterGrinBlush

Imnotaslimjim · 31/03/2016 15:05

Beilliant, so pleased she's got it moving. Would it be possible to have her just sit on the loo? Surely that would be better than having to change pullup after pullup if you do convince her to wear them. Take a chair in for you and just sit and chat with her

TeaBreak1 · 31/03/2016 15:09

Op, just wanted to add make sure you don't hold back with the medical team treating your dd, keep going until you get answers. My ds has had bowel issues since more or less birth, diarrhea not constipation, he had formula on prescription from around 4 weeks old. He was born a very good weight of over 10lbs on the 98th percentile, now aged 7 he is only 104cm tall and 16kg. We had a hospital appointment yesterday he is now below the 2nd percentile for both, the consultant told me he wasn't concerned as all blood test were normal. I was not happy with this answer caused a bit of a fuss and we have an appointment tomorrow with a senior consultant, where hopefully I will be some answers.

WhatTheActualFugg · 31/03/2016 15:13

OP I haven't read the full thread, just your posts. I really feel for you. My little boy is on Lactulose every day just to try and keep his bowels frequent. I thought we'd got it sorted and weaned him off it but then last week he was screaming blue murder because of the pain. I nearly took him to A&E, but he did pass a stool and I went back to the GP (AGAIN!!) and he said just keep him on the Lactulose. For years if need be.

It is a horrible, horrible thing to do deal with. I find when my ds is bunged up it negatively affects his development too. He becomes withdrawn and disinterested.

I don't understand how you've got your dd seeing a consultant but that they're not investigating her still not passing stools properly. I would have thought it was very clear there is a very old blockage that needs medical intervention to remove.

Yes, I would go to A&E. Insist she get a scan. Tell them she's not opened her bowls for x months!!!! Leaking is not the same as opening her bowels!!

Good luck OP. Please, please let me know how you get on.

Oh, clearly I didn't read ALL of your posts Blush.

I think the priority is probably to get your dd regular before thinking about changing nurseries etc.

littlemaemae · 31/03/2016 15:44

Thank you all, it's so lovely of you to be so caring and understanding towards us.
I really was expecting no response, but it was a last resort.
You have helped me no end.
I don't have much support in RL because it's so complex and personal that I don't want to tell many people and when I do they just don't understand the emotional toll it takes on the family and my DD.

After pictures are going to be really important, (can't wait to share them on here too) and also to remind myself what a 'normal' tummy is for her.
I think it will be quite shocking as I haven't seen it normal since she was a chubby baby.

And surely the before and after will speak for itself.

She is being really good, sitting on the loo.
We live in a townhouse so she shares a floor with dd6 and they have their own bathroom. So dd6 has been spending time in there playing games and entertaining her and she's never far from a toilet.

We have decorated some pull ups with sharpies for when she really needs them and she has accepted that and quite liked them.
It's ironic that not long ago I was trying desperately to get her into knickers and now it's the other way round!

So sorry for all of you having health problems with your dcs or yourselves.

Fucking hell OP. I've read your thread like Shock

How is it possible for a GP to be so full of cuntery and ego?
