Said by a friend.

Another one sounded off about Easter Eggs now being called Chocolate Eggs so not to offend people because it was on the news!

Argh!

OP posts:
dizzytomato · 28/03/2016 20:51

I bet they're not called chocolate eggs to avoid using the word easter. I bet they have to put the word chocolate on them because there are some pretty dumb twatts out there.

limitedperiodonly · 28/03/2016 20:55

Limited.. they do find wallys to film on CNN/BBC/Fox etc, all those prats that burn USA flags etc, just as much propaganda.

That was my point lurked101. It doesn't enhance constructive debate though, does it?

GooseberryRoolz · 28/03/2016 20:56

Lurked are you feeling quite alright? I haven't said anything of the sort.

GooseberryRoolz · 28/03/2016 21:01

TBF dizzy, the chances are that it was a decision taken by an exec in the interests of 'inclusivity' ( otherwise posited as 'Flogging more eggs to more people').

What's peculiar is that people care so much. They're chocolate eggs, on sale at Easter. The association is pretty obvious.

CockacidalManiac · 28/03/2016 21:04

TBF dizzy, the chances are that it was a decision taken by an exec in the interests of 'inclusivity' ( otherwise posited as 'Flogging more eggs to more people').

But the point is that they say Easter Eggs on the back, it's a complete non story.

lurked101 · 28/03/2016 21:13

But the data you've just posted also says that non EU citizens have higher rates of employment in many other countries.

So you're picking and choosing which countries, and then going back to the "immigrants are benefits scroungers argument" . Bit of confirmation bias there

GooseberryRoolz · 28/03/2016 21:14

Removed the word entirely, shuffled it around the back of the packet; It's all the same profit-chasing triviality to me Smile

I'm just confused that people are upset by it.

CockacidalManiac · 28/03/2016 21:18

I'm just confused that people are upset by it.

It's because there is a subset of people who actually believe that there is a plan by a mysterious 'them' to deprive them of their God given English heritage of Christmas (not seasons greetings! Not Winterval!), Easter Eggs, and a multitude of other things. This is supposedly for the benefit of Muslims, apparently. It's a real victim mentality that some people have. They will believe any old shit that reinforces their view.

corythatwas · 28/03/2016 21:23

"We have changed as a society and england doesn't really exist anymore."

So which England was England? The England of FIL's youth before women had the vote? Or the England of the early 1960s? Difficult to claim they were both the same society, so which was England? And who gets to decide?

lurked101 · 28/03/2016 21:34

I think that "England" only exists in someone's mind, whether its the land of lost content of the Tory 1950s or the Edwardian times the current incumbants seem to long for. All are rose tinted, illconcieved and an unrealistic vision of a past that never really existed.

Like the Summer of love, these were things that happened to other people..

Iusedtobecarmen · 28/03/2016 21:53

Yes 'element of surprise'. This.

benedictcumberbatch · 28/03/2016 22:56

When people talk about the past, they tend to talk about the positives, rather than the negatives.

For example, when people think of Shakespearean times, they think of romance, high-class humour, and strong morals. However, the reality of that era is anything but that!

elementofsurprise · 29/03/2016 00:52

lurked Your post is unpleasant and shows you havent bothered reading mine, and are confusing different posters in your general rant.

Call me what you like, I know I'm not racist.

FFS.

Mumsnet seems to be full of horrible peope who dont listen to each other, makes me want to be dead even more than I did before. I'll just hide here and hurt myself seeing as no-one can have areasonable discussion, it all has to be propaganda on both sides... and radical leftwingers dont actually dont give a fuck about anyone. I'v had enouh of this fucking world, i dont fit in, im supposed to be dead, fuck you

CockacidalManiac · 29/03/2016 01:17

elementofsurprise, it's just words on a screen, stuff on an Internet forum. Don't take it to heart. If you are feeling this low, then it might be helpful to talk to someone.

Lanark2 · 29/03/2016 01:39

England, my country, the home of the free, such miserable weather. And England is happy as England can be. Why cry?

GooseberryRoolz · 29/03/2016 02:18

Element please don't let it get to you ThanksChocolate

SamanthaBrique · 29/03/2016 05:51

horrible men hurt women and get away with it.

They do, but I'm not sure it's confined to men from "other cultures". Ched Evans and Adam Johnson are British, as are their supporters who hounded their victims so much.

HelpfulChap · 29/03/2016 06:09

I'm English and proud. Always have been always will be.

As to 'England isn't England any more' - nothing is black and white.
Many many things are better and have improved over the years but there are also many things that have got worse. A lot worse.

Well said, hester.

carmen, you haven't been back to clarify your points.

Lanark2 · 29/03/2016 10:05

Poverty used to work well in England when we needed the poorest to breed quickest The factories and hard labour would burn them out, so they had to breed quickly, and our society needed the numbers. Though increased automation has reduced the need for a fast-breeding insecure class, the culture of early pregnancy has remained, even though there is less economic need for working class labour. That has caused a shift in what 'English' culture is overall.

Lanark2 · 29/03/2016 10:07

Or..

Increased awareness if global inequality has created a panic that values greed and loss above localised ideas of culture.

Lanark2 · 29/03/2016 10:20

Or..'we never had crime in the old days, knees up mother brown, before them Muslims and the ities an.. Well when the krays wuz there there was no crime..gentlemen they were...bibble bibble

lurked101 · 29/03/2016 11:40

Sorry luv, I did read your post, you said:

"Living/working in a big city is mostly shit compared to.when I started work in the 80's.Walking through my home city now you could be forgiven for thinking you were in Saudi Arabia. I fear for my kids. I hope they at least go and live somewhere either massively rural if they dont get out of the UK."

Which is quite frankly racist, you then came back and tried to cover it by saying women were treated like second class citizens and many of the men did the same to "indigenous" women. You tried to cover your point with a veil of concern over sexism, but then tripped yourself up by using the I word (btw the UN won't use it because its really hard to prove who is indigenous).

You also said: "Religious terrorism" which is a cover for Islamic terrorism (like the IRA, UDF etc never existed or any other Christian terror group)

You talked about "political correctness gone mad" when it hasn't at all, every example of PCGM is always either made up drivel or an example of health and safety, or only sometimes a good thing really.

Don't post on a internet forum if your so sensitive.
