Indian vegetables (microwaved dinner for a supermarket) with a fried egg on top... And a chopped tomato on the side.

sorry sounds gross

JanetOfTheApes · 17/03/2016 20:07

Not particularly. But what is your aibu?

SohowdoIdothis · 17/03/2016 20:07

Sounds good, but I would poach the egg.

lastqueenofscotland · 17/03/2016 20:08

Sounds horrendous.

Not odd just nasty

FarQueueFarkYou · 17/03/2016 20:08

Yeah I agree!

I was given it for dinner and feel a bit ungrateful for not enjoying it...

I just don't think it's tasty at all... All the things on their own, fine, but why mix them together?!?

My AIBU is: is this dinner gross? Wink

What are Indian vegetables?

FarQueueFarkYou · 17/03/2016 20:11

Indian Spiced Vegetables www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=291126320

Sounds tasty to me, in principle, kind of kedgeree vibe with Indian flavours with egg, as PP I too would poach the egg!

However this is the sort of thing i may make for myself with odd bits in the fridge, probably wouldn't serve to someone else as an actual meal.

IHaveBrilloHair · 17/03/2016 20:12

We had fried rice topped with a fried egg, not had it with Indian veg but I don't see why not.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 17/03/2016 20:13

What are Indian vegetables? Are they just spicy potatoes?
I'd probably eat it. I like trying new things. Not sure how a fried egg would fare in the microwave though. Bit rubbery? Maybe that was a serving suggestion i.e. not included.

Philoslothy · 17/03/2016 20:13

We do a sort of Indiam fried rice with lots of vegetables and a poached egg - it is delicious

FarQueueFarkYou · 17/03/2016 20:13

Yeah, I think it can be made nicely... I would poach the egg, add some rice, salt/pepper.

I was literally given a folded-over fried egg, no seasoning, plonked on bed of vegetables. Unsalted tomato on the side.

I hate disappointing dinners!

Did you have the yoghurt dip with egg? That's gross, definitely.

BrienneofQarth · 17/03/2016 20:14

I have to ask...who made you that??

Pinkheart5915 · 17/03/2016 20:14

Doesn't sound very nice, I wouldn't of wanted it.

As you say though done properly, nice poached egg bit of seasoning could of been very nice.

Birdsgottafly · 17/03/2016 20:16

I can't think of the name of the Punjabi curry that is served with an egg on top, there are fishes that come with an omelette, as well, so not that strange.

scribblegirl · 17/03/2016 20:16

I don't think that sounds very nice and I'm the queen of random combo dinners Wink the other day DP looked at me in horror as he saw me dipping seafood sticks into mint sauce and asked if I was pregnant

0phelia · 17/03/2016 20:17

Theoretically that sort of ensemble can be delicious.
Sorry, though. A microwavable selection of Indian veg in a plastic container from Tesco... Just... Wrong, horrible and wrong.

YANBU. It's a gross meal.

Boozena · 17/03/2016 20:17

It sounds Nigella-esque. She does a bombay potato dish topped with fried egg- I wouldn't fancy it though. Something wrong about egg & spices.

scarednoob · 17/03/2016 20:18

It sounds like someone tried to replicate something they'd seen in a restaurant or something!

ABitSensible · 17/03/2016 20:18

Sounds like what you'd cobble together on the last day before payday Envy not envy, boak

0phelia · 17/03/2016 20:19

A lovely home cooked spicy veg selection, with egg and some fresh tomato would be rather up my street. I'd serve it with spiced potato and spinach...

0phelia · 17/03/2016 20:19

No microwavable nastiness.

FarQueueFarkYou · 17/03/2016 20:20

Thanks all for the support Wink Went round to my parents' tonight and my mum offered to make me dinner, I did eat a bit but I think I have offended her as I had a mini-rant about how it wasn't very tasty Sad Feel bad now!!!

But it just isn't that nice, is it??!
