To offer an adult chicken nuggets for their tea?

DS & I have chicken nuggets (with potatoes & veg) for tea every Friday as an end of the week treat.
This week we will have a family friend with us for our evening meal, she is a lovely lady who is in her mid-60s (I think that maybe relevant).
So...WIBU to offer her chicken nuggets for tea? Should I get something more grown up?

I presume you never have any processed food then Callie?? Ever.

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/03/2016 19:11

Ahaaaaha, oh you do talk such shit Callie
Anyway, you've gone against MN food rules with the cornflakes, we all know that cereal is deadly killer evil in a box.

dylsmimi · 18/03/2016 19:15

Interesting callie that chicken nuggets are awful food not to be served to anyone yet you mention making something so it tastes like KFC !! Hmm
Also rrft - op is already cooking the dinner for Her guest

DaffyDuck88 · 18/03/2016 19:21

I remember being handed a box of still frozen fish fingers when I turned up for a dinner party. Hostess was a little emotional and had had one or two or more glasses of wine. Given they had other guests arriving within the hour I was quickly despatched to the kitchen to whip up something else.

Janeymoo50 · 18/03/2016 19:50

In the real world Callie some of us genuinely cannot afford fresh chicken breasts when we can buy chicken nuggets. It doesn't make us love our kids any less and we'd all love to use fresh chicken, herbs etc, it's just not a financial choice we have. (Plus the Iceland chicken nuggets are yummy with crinkle cut chips and sweetcorn, oh and ketchup, give em a try you'll never look back 😋).

Callie My dd's had fish fingers for dinner this evening, do fish fingers meet your standards?

And FYI you need to use crushed up Rice Krispies if you want to make immitation KFC, not Corn Flakes - get it right! Grin

ouryve · 18/03/2016 20:20

Cornflakes are heavily processed and full of sugar, Callie

Crazypetlady · 18/03/2016 20:22

Ha my ds is 9 months dp brought back some bird's-eye fish bites as they were reduced I won't eat them as I'm on slimming world so I gave a couple to ds shall I give you my address to pass on to relevant authorities callie?

imwithspud · 18/03/2016 20:28

Forgot to add, the Fish Fingers were cod ones, from Sainsbury's - if that makes any difference at all? Biscuit

PopcornFiend · 18/03/2016 20:30

Daffy seriously?! That is hilarous. What did you make?

RedOnHerHedd · 18/03/2016 22:12

I bloody love a good fish finger sandwich with ketchup and mayo!!

I'm 34 and wouldn't mind nuggets being served to me, I'd just be pleased that someone cooked for me.

RedOnHerHedd · 18/03/2016 22:14

I'm hungry now, I haven't eaten anything since teatime yesterday (tummy bug all day) but I actually feel a bit hungry now.

HairySubject · 18/03/2016 22:29

If my best friend was round and I was putting dinner on I would offer to throw some in the oven for her.
If I had invited anyone else round to eat then I would cook something nice.

HalloweenHammerJammer · 18/03/2016 22:43

I'm not understanding why chicken nuggets is 'kids' food'? And also why 'more effort' should be made. I'd be happy with whatever I am given. Just good manners. And no judging either. Just rude!!!

IAmNotAWitch · 18/03/2016 22:54

I don't mind a bit of mechanically reclaimed meat personally.

I grew up on a farm though where we used to make 'animal sausage' out of all the bits and pieces leftover once the 'nice' meat had been used.

SomedayMyPrinceWillCome · 18/03/2016 23:22

We've moved past dinner now & are drinking wine. Good times Wine

I'd eat em to be polite but think yucky unless homemade ones but a lot of dc prefer frozen type.I'd do ds his usual and do me and visitor a chicken breast and explain to so why I wasn't joining him in our usual 'treat' Wink

TheEternalForever · 24/03/2016 14:35

I'd make chicken nuggets for your DS and chicken breasts/kievs for you and your friend. You can do the same potatoes and veg for both, and it's not too much extra work. Buy a nice dessert from Tesco?

TheEternalForever · 24/03/2016 15:53

Ahh somehow managed to miss a page of the thread. Glad you got it sorted, hope you had a nice evening!! Smile
