To offer an adult chicken nuggets for their tea?

DS & I have chicken nuggets (with potatoes & veg) for tea every Friday as an end of the week treat.
This week we will have a family friend with us for our evening meal, she is a lovely lady who is in her mid-60s (I think that maybe relevant).
So...WIBU to offer her chicken nuggets for tea? Should I get something more grown up?

I love a chicken nugget or fish finger- but maybe not the best entertaining a friend food.

Vixxfacee · 17/03/2016 14:14

I would not be impressed At all. It's kids food.

ReginaBlitz · 17/03/2016 14:18

Fuck that, it's one day, one change for a week it won't kill you! Chicken nuggets are vile and processed do something nice!

ovenchips · 17/03/2016 14:27

Could you buy something more grown-up but also ensure you have enough chicken nuggets for 3, then offer the choice?

FWIW I would never choose chicken nuggets to eat. Chicken nuggets, potatoes and veg sounds a very workaday children's meal and I'd probably choose to serve something else for a visitor. But you have the advantage over us of knowing the visitor so can prob gauge what would work best.

SaucyJack · 17/03/2016 14:30

Did you invite her round "for dinner" or is it more that she'll be round doing something at dinner-time anyway, and will be welcome to join in with what you're having?

Not sure I'd serve her nuggets either way- although I don't eat them at the worst best of times meself anyway.

I like my junk with a bit of flavour in it.

grannytomine · 17/03/2016 14:32

I'm in my 60s and I like chicken nuggets with my grandchildren every now and then. I do insist on bbq sauce though.

JuxtapositionRecords · 17/03/2016 14:33

Grin at this -

Serve them in ciabatta with rocket and mayonnaise?

Mommasoph30 · 17/03/2016 14:38

Just get some chicken goujans mmmm :)

Lottie4 · 17/03/2016 16:11

You could always get an alternative in (something like fish or even chicken in breadcrumbs) which can easily be cooked the same time and give a choice. This will easily go with your veggies. If your guest prefers the alternative, they are easy to cook together.

paxillin · 17/03/2016 16:13

Are chicken nuggets not simply smaller goujons? I thought they are both strips of chicken covered in bread crumbs.

Bunbaker · 17/03/2016 16:23

I think the cheap and nasty chicken nuggets are made from "formed and shaped" pieces of chicken - aka the crap bits that have been scraped off the floor. I wouldn't object to nice nuggets made from real pieces of chicken breast, but I would to the cheap and nasty stuff.

I occasionally make home made chicken nuggets, but they are a faff and the house smells of frying for ages afterwards.

whois · 17/03/2016 16:25

I'd eat nuggets happily if they were nice chicken!

If you don't think she would like them you could always chuck in a chicken breast each fir you and her in the oven with some ham and cheese at the same time as DS nuggets.

diddl · 17/03/2016 16:25

If I was given nuggets I'd be disappointed not to have chips with them.

Would prefer a piece of breaded chicken breast, chicken cordon bleu or chicken kiev, though!

IHaveBrilloHair · 17/03/2016 16:33

I'm partial to a turkey dinosaur and I'm honestly a good cook

storminabuttercup · 17/03/2016 16:35

I love chicken nuggets.

I'd be quite happy with that tea!

PigletJohn · 17/03/2016 16:39

I believe nuggets are made of minced-up chickens feet and ears, with added fat, so not for me, thanks.

Goingtobeawesome · 17/03/2016 16:40

Do the usual for your son, make something you want your son to try for your friend and you and just casually put a small portion next to him so he can join in and try if he wants too but if not, still getting fed Wink.

ErgonomicallyUnsound · 17/03/2016 16:42

I'd be amazed at a nice lady in her 60s judging or even much caring, tbh.

BabyGanoush · 17/03/2016 16:49

I somehow imagine your son as a 23 year old....

"On Fridays I have chicken nuggets with mother. She thinks I like them. I would prefer to have sex on the sofa with my girlfriend. But I have no girlfriend..."

If we have a guest for dinner I always make an effort and cook a nice meal. I wouldn't give them shop bought nuggets.

Pyjamaramadrama · 17/03/2016 16:51

I wouldn't personally. I quite like chicken nuggets with waffles and beans though. I think it's a kids easy meal though.

If it's a cooking/cost issue I think scampi, fish fingers, fish cakes or sausages are ok, you could do sausage and mash, fish fingers and mash, scampi and chips, all go with veg or beans. Or jacket potato?

Crazypetlady · 17/03/2016 16:52

I'd be over the moon with nuggets no food snobbery here

yumyumpoppycat · 17/03/2016 16:54

I think go for a real schmorasboard of things on the table and she can pick the bits she likes. Chicken nuggets are nice in a wrap say with mayo and salad. Defo some yummy chunky chips or sweet potato fries.

EllaHen · 17/03/2016 17:01

My Mum is in her 60's. She'd love whatever you cooked for her and would be grateful to boot.

AppleSetsSail · 17/03/2016 17:04

Are people in their 60s supposed to be grateful for whatever they get? Their age hardly matters.
