I'm not talking as a smoker.. As a passive smoker.. Or just someone in the street. To me at least tobacco has that old world, masculine adventure, growing, curing, industry craft historic smell. The vape sweet crap is just like gobbling down an air freshener.

I would actually prefer to be around actual camcery smoke than the pink-smelling horror or the vape. Anyone else?

Part of the reason I still smoke is because I love the smell of cigarettes. Always have. Used to love walking into the pub and being hit by the smell of beer and cigarettes yes im a weirdo

I vape because people tell me it helps me cut down and because I can use it in the house.

I'm a vaper and cannot bear the smell of cigarettes now I don't smoke them. I don't really get where you're coming from with your description of the smell of tobacco tbh, modern cigarettes smell awful and chemically, not like old fashioned tobacco at all although I still love the smell of proper pipe tobacco. As for the smell of eliquid, some I love, some I hate, there's so many different flavours I don't see how you can generalise.

For me it must be fresh. Stale smoke is horrible, but fresh smoke, especially outdoors when it's slightly chilly... It appeals to me for some reason. I don't know why.

No I wouldn't prefer to get cancer from passive smoking.

I vape now and I too hate the smell of the oil as do my DH and kids. I refuse to call it "juice" fecking stupid...it's not Juice! It's oil and it stinks.

It smells like a sweet shop outside my work building. Everyone's vaping now at my work. It's extremely popular, but does any body really know what is in that stuff? Hopefully it's better for them than actual smoking.

I HATE the smell of vaping. Awful. I work with teens and they all bloody do it. I swear they wouldn't have smoked but now vaping smells like shitty candy, they all do it.

The only time I have been able to smell vape juice is when someone was vaping one of those more powerful machines that give off absolute cloud. I can't smell the normal ones at all.

Ikwym, some of the vape liquids reek (the custardy ones are especially overpowering). I am a vaper myself. Ikwym about the old fashioned smell of some tobaccos, but most cheap fags smell vile. And stale smoke smells vile.

Vape liquid contains food grade flavourings carried in propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerine. I don't know what long term effects will result from inhaling the vapour from those substances. I can't assume it's harmless but inhaling burning tobacco smoke very definitely isn't harmless, so ...

Not all of the liquids are scented. I use one which is odourless so I can sneak a few puffs in the kitchen at work.

I think both are equally revolting. DH for some stupid reason smokes and vapes. The blueberry oil he uses is sickening and the smell of the roll up baccy he smokes is just evil particularly on his clothes. It sort of smells dirty and it's so powerful. I hate it.

I have never smelt vape. I would rather not breathe in a cloud of anything someone has just breathed out though TBF.

No I quite like the smell of fresh smoke too but have never been a smoker. Pipe smoke smells like ice cream to me! In my late thirties I occasionally think of starting. Obviously I wouldn't but I do find the smell quite pleasant. Glad you can't actually smoke in public places though.

I vape vanilla liquid and I've frequently had pp in the street say what a nice smell it is! So YABVU!

I also haven't smoked a fag for 4 months!
