To think changing bedsheets once a week is ott

Another week has whizzed past, feels like yesterday I changed all the beds. They look and smell fine, surely if I only change beds once every 2 weeks we will still all survive. I could spend 30 minutes with my feet up drinking tea once in a while. Aibu?

Clean pjs every other day, I shower before bed, change my bedding every 2 weeks.

Fairylea · 10/03/2016 07:12

Once a week if not more - mainly because I am a fabric softener fanatic and love the smell of clean sheets GrinBlush

WeAreEternal · 10/03/2016 07:16

Once a week when DP is away, twice a week when he is home.

BoGrainger · 10/03/2016 07:17

A few times a year whether they need it or not

PrincessHairyMclary · 10/03/2016 07:18

Once a month here, I shower before Bed and wear pjs and I'm the only one in it. Really don't see the need to change it anymore frequently than that unless it's really hot.

imwithspud · 10/03/2016 07:20

Every 2 weeks or so here, more if need be. No one has died yet.

TiggyD · 10/03/2016 07:20

I just throw open the windows and doors and start singing. Then all the woodland animals come in and clean and change the sheets for me. There's still a deer out there somewhere with antlers draped with my pants. Angry #naughtypantsdeer.

Janeymoo50 · 10/03/2016 07:23

Compromise and do say just the pillow cases and bottom sheets weekly and then everything including the fiddly duvet covers fortnightly.

acasualobserver · 10/03/2016 07:24

Every year ... whether they need changing or not.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 10/03/2016 07:24

I aim for fortnightly, so one wend will do my bedding and the following one do dds. I live in a small flat, no tumble drier and drying sheets is a complete PITA. I seem to spend my life doing washing as it is so seriously can not work out how would do any more!!

EponasWildDaughter · 10/03/2016 07:26

Weekly. If DH or i are not well or it's very hot then more often.

Trickier with the DDs as they're not at home every night now (teens/20s) but i get them to strip theirs when they've had about 8/10 sleeps in them.

I actually think that towards the end of the week the bed feels stale and feels like it needs a wash. I wouldn't want to put clothes on that hadn't been washed for over a week - same for bedding.

If i was rich i'd have someone change my bed for me everyday. It's the most gorgeous feeling, slipping into a fresh bed.

londonrach · 10/03/2016 07:27

Tiggy 😅

ExConstance · 10/03/2016 07:28

2-3 weeks for me too, we are far too obsessive about this sort of stuff these days.

leelu66 · 10/03/2016 07:29

Wtf?! Top sheet? I thought only hotels did that?!

Fitted sheet and duvet cover here only.

I find the thought of ironing bedsheets and duvet covers quite funny actually. Do people have homes or show homes?! Think what you could be doing in that time! The books, the boxsets, the walks in fresh air!

leelu66 · 10/03/2016 07:33

Forgot the deeper filled mattress protector. Love that thing.

Next step: get a feather mattress topper.

Dream: feather bed

Fortnightly?

< shrug >

SatsukiKusakabe · 10/03/2016 07:35

Weekly, but I don't cry about it if for some reason it rolls on to a fortnight. A fortnight is my maximum though and rare.

I don't think weekly is obsessive - you spend a lot of hours in them over that week, and they do really start being noticeably less nice to be in.

IWasHereBeforeTheHack · 10/03/2016 07:37

Used to change every 2 weeks when DCs were small. Now it's just 2 of us, I do it every week. Love those clean sheets!

Enjoy your cup of tea; this thread won't end well. Smile

5-10 minutes to iron.
I still manage all the things you list.

MattDillonsPants · 10/03/2016 07:38

I am a once a week person. I've read about mumsnetters on here with DH's who turn the sheets YELLOW with their sweat. Which is gross. I wonder why? I can see they might need a more regular change.

SatsukiKusakabe · 10/03/2016 07:39

At some point living itself is just bad for the environment. I walk everywhere, don't use a tumble dryer, iron as little as possible, don't go on holiday abroad, turn all my lights off, but yes, I wash my sheets once a week.

Can we have a towel washing thread after this? Grin I like those.

SatsukiKusakabe · 10/03/2016 07:42

My mil used to iron my dh's underwear when he lived at home. Imagine the shock to the system that married life was!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 10/03/2016 07:43

Once a week, but a week gets missed occasionally if we're away for the weekend. I have never ironed bedding in my life.

Purplepixiedust · 10/03/2016 07:44

We aim for every 2 weeks but sometimes its 3 (or 4). In an ideal world I would do ours one week and DS the next and alternate.

If folks want to do it more, good for them but I don't think it's needed and the only time mine get ironed is when they are new!

YANBU OP.
