To ask how long it took to get your figure back after having a baby?

And if it took longer the second time?

After DC1 my body went back to normal within 24hours of giving birth (flat tummy, no stretchmarks or saggy skin) and I wore non-maternity clothes home from hospital. I'm 32.

Everyone says the second time is different!

If you bounced back quickly after number one I don't think the second would be much different.

Obviously if you're overweight and have a tendency to put on weight, having babies is another obstacle / excuse. People I know who were slim and fit beforehand bounced back very quickly. I don't know anyone whose body dramatically changed post baby.

NeedACleverNN · 09/03/2016 11:33

A week maximum for both Blush

I have a bit of a weight issue in that I struggle to gain it. Not as good as it sounds.

Meant during pregnancy it was all baby.

When I gave birth, I was left with a bit of a wobbly tummy where my bump was but this quickly snapped back into shape within a week.

I didn't even need maternity wear. Just a size 10

I'll urm...go away now before people start throwing things at me.

mrsnec · 09/03/2016 11:35

I'm nearly 4 weeks post elcs with dc2.

I was 5 kg off my pre pregnancy weight when I got pregnant again so that's why I've put on loads the second time but I've lost half of it already.

Don't know how long it will take to shift the rest not too worried. Have about 1.5 stone to lose. Not in pre pregnancy jeans yet although I did try they irritated my scar a bit.

verite · 09/03/2016 11:40

About 3 years. But I ended up about a stone and half less than I was when I got pregnant which I maintained for another 3 years. Pregnant again and trying to be more sensible this time so it doesn't take as long to lose.

NorthernChinchilla · 09/03/2016 11:41

Took 6 weeks with DC 1 to be back in normal clothes.
Am currently cuddling nearly 3 week old DC 2 on chair Smile. As with first DC, I didn't really put on weight as such, and it's just a matter of changing back to my pre-pregnancy shape in the belly area. I'm normally a 10-12, and I'd estimate from the clothes I'm wearing I'm currently a small 14/large 12.
Clearly some bits will be forever changed- random stretch marks, having hips (was almost straight up pre DC!), rounder tummy, etc, but think that's par for the course and oh so worth it!

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 09/03/2016 11:47

DS1 - about 6 weeks with no effort
DS2 - about 10 months with shredding and calorie counting

Strokethefurrywall · 09/03/2016 11:49

I was lucky and didn't put much on with either and lost all with both by end of week 1. That being said my body shape at week 1 wasn't attractive, still wobbly and giant Death Star boobs!
But it did take longer to get back to my previous shape with DS2. I blame Easter that happened a month after he arrived.

KatharinaRosalie · 09/03/2016 11:51

was actually faster with second one.

juniperdingleberries · 09/03/2016 11:51

DD is 8mo and I'm halfway back to my PP weight. I've got 15lbs to go.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/03/2016 11:55

Ha! There are some lightweights on this thread! WinkGrin

Ds3 is 19 this year, and my pre-pregnancy figure is still AWOL!

SamanthaBrique · 09/03/2016 12:00

19 years??

Eminybob · 09/03/2016 12:00

DS is 20 months and I'm still half a stone heavier than my pre pregnancy weight, even though I have lost 2 stone since having him.

I think that my issue was that I was complacent. Everyone told me that ebf-ing would make the weight fall off. It didn't and I just ate the extra calories so I think I actually gained weight in the first 6 months!

Even if I were to get back to pre-pregnancy weight I don't think my body will ever be the same, I carry it all in different places now.

Cuttheraisins · 09/03/2016 12:04

I won't for sure, my shape has changes. I used to be very petite with narrow hips, now my hips are wide but I am not overweight. I am on the low side of normal bmi. But I used to be very very skinny, 5'7 and 120 pounds. I don't think it's pregnancy as much as age tbh! I am now 45 and 140 pounds. I will not ever go back to my pre pregnancy body.

hazelnutlatte · 09/03/2016 12:05

With dd1 it took about 18 months before I was back at pre pregnancy weight - the last half stone took a very long time to shift! Dd2 is 8 months and I have a stone to loose. Breastfeeding makes me hungry and dd2 doesn't sleep well so I'm eating a lot of carbs to get through the day. Whilst I'm not loosing weight I have been exercising and have regained strength and fitness which I think is more important. I would really like to lose that stone though!

Peasandsweetcorn · 09/03/2016 12:06

DC2 is coming up for four. I weigh less than I did before having DC but my breasts & stomach are saggier & my hips and ribs wider.
I'm happy with the swap though!

It happened on the 3rd day with all three of my DC.

I was aged 23, 30 and 33.

Cuttheraisins · 09/03/2016 12:14

Oh yes and my feet are bigger too. Not sure it has anything to do with anything but apparently lots of women have bigger feet after pregnancies!

ouryve · 09/03/2016 12:23

I'm still waiting.

DS2 is nearly 10.

AFuckOfFlora · 09/03/2016 12:26

I did go back to normal(ish) after about two months with baby number two.

However, becoming a SAHM didn't do me any favours and I've banged on two stone in the last 2.5 yearsBlush

Murphyslaw21 · 09/03/2016 12:28

My friend had three kids after each went to gym lost all weight looks great. See her in a bikini and it's another matter...

Stretch marks and extra skin plus drooping boobs.

But she is pleased. Me not bothered either way, wanted to loose weight before and after baby.

Love my stretch marks and extra skin they kept my baby warm.

waffilyversati1e · 09/03/2016 12:30

meh, I am 7 stones heavier and have put my body through the trauma of 3 pregnancies. I will never have the body I had before babies and I really don't mind. My body is strong and yeah ok I am weighing more than is ideal at the moment but I am losing weight slowly. My body is awesome and I have the stretchmarks to prove it!

RoboticSealpup · 09/03/2016 12:32

About 6-8 months. No stretch marks, but they're genetic, I think. My mum and sister didn't get them either.

Stomach skin is slightly more 'crepey', but nothing you can really see unless your looking for it, bum is a bit smaller/flatter, and breasts are a bit softer and maybe a bit smaller. (If that's even possible as I was an A before! Grin )

ouryve · 09/03/2016 12:32

And it's not a matter of having superior self control and only gaining 10lb vs a total lack of willpower.

I bloated up horribly when I was pregnant with DS1. I must have gained a couple of stone in water alone.

I weigh less now than before I got pregnant with DS1 and I have weighed a lot less than I do now for most of the past decade. The weight is not in the same places, though. For a start, my boobs are now massive in comparison to how they used to be. I also used to be pear shaped, but now have no arse to hang my jeans off. I also have stretchmarks on the stretchmarks and, the less I weigh, the saggier my belly is, with a lovely little apron hanging around my hips due to the fact that the collagen fairy was in an absolutely shit mood when she handed mine out.

My feet have gone splat, too. Once high arches are now fallen arches.

TorchesTorches · 09/03/2016 12:33

1st, 3 weeks with the 2nd it was 7 months, no particular effort made with either(ie no diet or exercise differences) In my first pregnancy i put on 10 kilos and in my 2nd i put on 13kg, so i put it all down to what weight i put on in pregnancy as those 3 extra kilos took those 7 months!
