I think we're due a name change. Just looked at Relationships and 3 out of the 4 top threads are by men.

OP posts:
MTPurse · 08/03/2016 09:38

Wimmenz only net?

Quietwhenreading · 08/03/2016 09:40

Why? The name isn't stopping men or non parents posting.

It's historical, it shows the original if the site.

After all Scottish Widows now has customers who don't reflect their name these days?

DarrenHardysDrongo · 08/03/2016 09:42

I was ready to suggest Trollsnet but notice Usual got there first.

We seem to have an influx of bridge dwellers at the moment, they come out from reddit under their bridge to spin yarns on MN. Keeps their little minds happy, but a pain in the arse for HQ Brew

WorraLiberty · 08/03/2016 09:47

Yes to BongCatNet! Grin

Fontella · 08/03/2016 09:47

Moany Fuckers Net?

sportinguista · 08/03/2016 09:53

Not got a problem with blokes being on, shows they at least want to find out our opinions rather than watching match of the day whilst picking their noses.

Yep, Moany Fuckers is a good one.

WorraLiberty · 08/03/2016 09:53

Some of the replies are funny when a man starts a thread in Relationships Grin

Sometimes it's blindingly obvious that the man is in the right and his wife is being bang out of order, but one or two posters will do anything they can, to make it look as though it's the other way around.

Even to the point of telling him he sounds 'too perfect' and he simply must be doing something wrong.

Completely different to the auto-LTB replies a lot of female OPs get Grin

LineyReborn · 08/03/2016 09:54

Well if men are already OK about posting here, it shows that there isn't actually an issue with the name, doesn't it?

Was the grape eating, nappy wearing, chicken coop inhabiting husband, a troll? :(

Hennifer · 08/03/2016 09:59

Call it what you like, and also, I don't mind men posting as long as they fit in and don't end up taking over.

I feel comfortable as long as they are in a very tiny minority here.

Shutthatdoor · 08/03/2016 10:00

Absolutely agree.

Oh and Opal Fruits much better name than Starbucks. At least Twix wasn't changed to Raiders Shock

Hennifer · 08/03/2016 10:00

btw surprised to see the overweight daughter thread was a troll - how did that all come about? I should stop going to bed at all really. Always miss something...

WorraLiberty · 08/03/2016 10:09

I don't always believe an OP is a man, just because they say they are anyway.

Sometimes I think they're just female posters (often PBPs), who just want to bring the aforementioned sexist posters out of the woodwork, for their own amusement.

Or maybe I'm just far too cynical Grin

DadDadDad · 08/03/2016 10:12

Hennifer - why do you feel comfortable as long as men are a tiny minority? Would you feel uncomfortable if men were 25% or 50% of posters?

And I wonder what the response would be on a male-dominated site that said, "women are welcome as long as they fit in"?

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2016 10:13

Mumsnet is fine. I hardly ever look at the Relationships topic.

Everyone is welcome as long as they aren't being an arse.

mithy · 08/03/2016 10:14

Indeed Worra There's no such thing as far too cynical, surely.

OP posts:
Hennifer · 08/03/2016 10:14

I'm not sure why. And yes, if they were 25% or 50% I would not feel so comfortable.

Many, many forums on the internet are male dominated and this feels like somewhere I can be a woman without feeling like I'm in the minority.

I'd kind of like that to remain.

WorraLiberty · 08/03/2016 10:15

Indeed Worra There's no such thing as far too cynical, surely.

Yeah, well no doubt that's what you want me to think Hmm

Hennifer · 08/03/2016 10:15

And I wonder what the response would be on a male-dominated site that said, "women are welcome as long as they fit in"?

Mostly, they don't even have to say it. It goes without saying.

DadDadDad · 08/03/2016 10:15

(And, I know it's implied by my username, but to avoid any doubt, I am male).

Sparklingbrook · 08/03/2016 10:15

I wouldn't want to post on a 'male-dominated site'.
