To think once you're over the age of 35 chances of meeting someone are slim

Someone without kids that is, most men of this age want younger women.

AIBU?

YABU.

I met someone at 36, am pregnant with first child at 37 and will be 38 when baby is born. DP is a year younger than me.

Think it's hard to find someone normal regardless of age nowadays and a lot of it is down to luck and timing

Oysterbabe · 28/02/2016 20:13

What's wrong with someone with kids?

DontKillMyVibe · 28/02/2016 20:14

Oh, and my DP doesn't have kids

revealall · 28/02/2016 20:16

YANBU ( re child free). It does change again when the first round of divorce hits. You may not want one of them either though.

Amanda141 · 28/02/2016 20:18

Nothing if you don't mind it Oyster it's not for everybody though.

Two of our close male friends recently met and married their wives at 39 and 40. No kids on either side.

Both couples are very happy, it's very sweet.

IHaveBrilloHair · 28/02/2016 20:22

Yanbu, I do think it's unlikely.
I'm quite happy to be single and if not, I'd never date anyone with dependent kids, it's just not for me.

travellinglighter · 28/02/2016 20:35

YABU. I'm a lot older than that and divorced about a year. Seperated about 2. I was petrified when I had to start dating again. It's a lot easier than I thought.

x2boys · 28/02/2016 20:36

I.met dh when I Was 31 he was 29 and had a daughter I did t have kids ideally I would have preferred to have met someone without ties but as you get older that gets less likely we have two children now who love their sister it's life.

Trills · 28/02/2016 21:01

Obviously the number of people who are single and have no kids goes down over time - not sure why you think there is a sudden cliff at age 35 though.

WeDoNotTalktoPennilynLott · 28/02/2016 21:03

I'm 46 next week and in the past 10 years I've had 5 boyfriends without kids... including DP I'm with now (and very happy with)

Owllady · 28/02/2016 21:03

There are loads of people that don't have children at 35 especially men.

Fairylea · 28/02/2016 21:06

I don't think that's true at all. Lots of men in their twenties love older women. I divorced in my 30s and dated younger men for a while before meeting my now dh who is nearly 8 years younger than me (I had a dd when I met him and we now have a ds together too). Never had any problems finding people to date, and trust me I'm fussy!

Quinoa20 · 28/02/2016 21:07

Met DH the 2nd (the better one) aged 40 , we were married within 9 months. I wasn't desperate rid had a great time slutting aboutin the years between

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 28/02/2016 21:08

I met my dp at 39 (he was 36, no kids) We now have a ds 8 months and I've just turned 43...never say never!

Quinoa20 · 28/02/2016 21:09

Ffs will rephrase - I'd had a great time slutting in the years before

abbsismyhero · 28/02/2016 21:15

loads of teenagers/young men want older women go on ok cupid there are tons of single horney childless men

Brummiegirl15 · 28/02/2016 21:16

ivykaty44 · 28/02/2016 21:26

My DP doesn't have dc, he is not likely to either and is over 50.

Trills · 28/02/2016 22:02

My DP doesn't have dc, he is not likely to either and is over 50.

Not single though is he?

Dowser · 28/02/2016 22:23

Imet someone without kids and he was 55.

It's great.

I had two children and at the time four grandchildren, now we have six.

We aren't pulled in different directions at Christmas .

Good luck with that. They are out there. My cousin and my friend both met childless men. One is 60.

RosyCat · 28/02/2016 22:47

I was 35 when I met DH, then 33.

There's a certain type of career guy who spends his 20s and first half of his 30s, establishing himself. Works long hours, stashes a lot of his money, still goes out a bit with his mates, but for birthdays, cup finals and bank holidays not every weekend.

Hits his mid 30s, sees he is securely on track, is maybe even a year or two ahead of schedule career wise, starts looking for someone to share it with. When he meets the right person, it moves fast.

Right person is usually 2-3 years older or younger than him, also usually quite a hard worker.

RosyCat · 28/02/2016 22:50

They don't even start looking til they can afford to start a family, and tend to be neither serial shaggers or serial monogamists.

Maybe a couple of past girlfriends )one at school or university, maybe someone who was a colleague, more likely quite a few female friends who were near misses who got friendzoned or did the friendzoning. Really not at all interested in anyone who doesn't have a bot of life behind them or have their head screwed on.
