4 years (DC2) and, er, considerably longer than 4 years (DC1).

DD1 12 months, DD2 still going at 18 months and hoping to get to 2 years.

13 months - first 6 weeks were excruciating, fully intended to stop at 6 months, but by then was loving it (and couldn't be bothered with formula). Family thought I was weird, repeatedly had to point out the WHO guidelines to them, but realistically it was more about me than DD.

DD1 - 2 year 7
DD2 - 2 years 10

It was bloody awful to get past the first 6 weeks with both of them. 2nd time around I thought "I've done this before" and it was even worse! Kept going though.

DD self weaned at about 22 months, I was 3 months pregnant and I've read the extra hormones can change the taste of your milk.

DS is due in May and I think I'll probably feed him longer as I'm not currently planning on getting pregnant again!

22 months. I would have liked to have carried on longer but I'm pregnant and have excruciatingly painful nipples this time around! Decided to have a day 'off', DS took cows milk quite happily and didn't ask for the breast at all so that was that!

2 weeks.
Despite tonnes of support I couldn't bear the agony any longer.
Found out later she has a stage 4 lip tie that wasn't picked up and apparently that explains a lot of our troubles.

8 weeks and then 5 1/2 months.

v low prolactin levels & the drs refused to prescribe more domperidone to me (even when HV got involve)

My GP wouldn't do this either. She was nice about it saying I'd done very well and nothing wrong with formula, which is completely true. But I'm a lazy mother and would have continued for the joy of no bottles to wash and always warm milk!

Bottle cuddles are just as a nice as booby cuddles so it's all good here.

DD1 exclusively for just a week but didn't stop completely breastfeeding until she was 14 months.

Breastfeeding DD2 now and she's 16 days old and hopefully for a while longer!

DD - I can't remember, about 2 years? She was definitely a toddler.

DS - 30 months. 6 months later he is still obsessed with my boobs and will try and shove one in his mouth if he sees an opportunity, so I'm not sure he was ready to give up really but the dentist kept telling me off about night feeds.

About 6 months. I'd have continued longer if I'd known absolutely that he'd be my only child. I sort of thought I'd do it again at some point.

Report

14 months, he just kind of stopped wanting to by himself. I'd have gone on for longer if he'd wanted it but he went into food. But he is very healthy, maybe that's due to it? Who knows...
