Just as Ds1 gets bored of it, ds2 gets hooked.

Years and years of hearing about the bloody thing, having to look at the latest creation, being nagged to "join" only to have arrows fired at me and the lovely things I build blown up with TNT.

AND to make matters WORSE - the fucking YouTube videos where they watch someone else play and yak all the way through it.

PISS OFF MINECRAFT. JUST PISS OFF!

Bloody Minecraft. Bloody DanTDM and his YouTube videos.

And YES, five nights at freddy's! DSS is equally fascinated and terrified by it. He watches the YouTube videos but has to hide from them...

You're a parent. You can drown out the incessant enderman jabbering and Stampyfuckinglongtwat's terrible laugh. You have those skills.

And the reward is that your child is doing something creative, developing fine motor skills and leaving you in peace for 15 minutes

I love Minecraft.

My neighbour's 5yo has introduced DS1 (6.5yo) to Minecraft on YouTube, and now DS1 is obsessed. He's never played Minecraft. He just watches other people play it.

He keeps getting his kiddizoom camera and wandering about the house, recording his own narration in the style of these people from YouTube. And then he forces me to watch those.... 'You've just GOT to watch this mummy, it's HILARIOUS!'

DD can't get the hang of pronouncing her THs and school has had a word. We couldn't work it out for ages and then the penny dropped. Too much EFFING LITTLE KELLY.

My just turned 7yo has started building electrical circuits (i.e. Redstone) in hers. I am stunned that something so "basic" as a computer game is teaching her that.

DD2 is littler, and not quite 5, but she can build remarkably complex houses with doors and windows, and make simple tools for herself without any help.

Her tiny fingers are perfect for the iphone version, whereas DD1 gets the ipad. DD1 wants my laptop for it though. She has a dark suspicion that she can do more on the laptop.

Same at this house too - though thank god DS1 does not (yet) play online with his friends. He just spends every waking second either telling me all about it, playing it and saying 'Look!' every two seconds to me, or watching DanTDM or PopularMMOS playing it.

Even DS2 (age 3) has got obsessed with the watching videos of it. I ask what he wants to play and he says he just wants to watch STAMPY on the TV - grrr! DS1 hates Stampy but DS2 loves him.

However, all this is nothing compared to the joy that is Five Nights at Freddy's. I will be minding my own business when one or both of my kids suddenly emits a blood curdling scream of terror - leaving me almost having a heart attack, which they think is hilarious. They even play 'Freddy's at Night' (as DS2 cutely calls it) which seems to involve one of them hiding while the other flashes a torch a lot, then jumping out and terrifying everyone within a ten mile radius.

My ds 10 watches minecraft videos, no idea who, because if he's anywhere near me he has to wear headphones, I have heard the annoying laugh.

He is now into terreria, which is similar but better, apparently. His older brother introduced him to both, so if he has any questions I tell him to ask his brother.

I'm not even remotely interested because I know I will never get any peace.

I was told recently that DSS thought that Terraria might be better than Minecraft. Blasphemy!

DanTDM is married, there is one silly video where he shoots his wife sneakily with a suction cup gun.

We've just started on Terraria. I think it's rubbish compared to the glory of Minecraft, but DD1 likes it, and has started watching Stampy's Terraria videos. Thank God for Stampy in that sense though - if she has questions about how to do XYZ, I just gently plonk her down in front of the relevant Stampy video and go about my business. Stampy does a lot of parenting in this house.

He could branch out into to My Lovely World: How To Be A Teenager some day, or Cave Den: What To Do When You Fall Out With Your Best Friend.

I don't like Minecraft or the associated videos myself but I don't object to my boys playing it and watching. We have less of Stampy now though - it's all about Dan TDM and those videos where some hyper dad lets his kids open reams and reams of parcels full of toys and stuff. Those annoy me a lot.

Dan TDM is very pretty though isn't he?

Christ. 5 Nights At Freddy's wound me into such a tense frenzy i had to stop watching.

Minecraft however - LOVE it! Me, DH and all 3 of our older DDs play it. So addictive. Especially on creative mode (unlimited everything, you can fly, and the monsters cant hurt you). You can build beautiful cities with the Ancient Greek pack

My DS has taken it to a new level - he now ACTS like a villager! Walking around with his arms folded, bumping into things then bouncing back making villager noises!! He does a pretty good creeper too...

I'm quite fond of Stampy. i watched his manifesto where he said once he realised that now he was poular with small children, and he wanted them to enjoy minecarft as much as he did, that he would never ever swear. and he doesn't bless him. same can't be said for Dan TDM who is banned until he stops / DS starts swearing

Yes DS is obsessed with 5 Nights at Freddy's, the minecraft version, I've banned him from the actual game as he always pees the bed when he has nightmares and that is bound to happen if he is fed a daily diet of that.

At the moment he has lost access to all gaming devices for questionable behaviour over the half term. So we are a minecraft free zone at the moment.

Mine is Minecraft, 5 nights at Freddie's (phone), TF2, and some form of ball game with cars.

The worst is that he makes videos of the damn games too.

Before Minecraft there was Pokemon and Yugio which are possibly even more boring. DS1 and DS2 managed to talk about them every waking moment.
Then came Minecraft, in the days when it was run by a 16 year old Norweigan boy in his bedroom. (come to think of it the graphics haven't moved on much).
DS2 grew out of it long ago and moved onto other online games such as League of Legends but last week I found him having a nostalgic game of Minecraft again with his 18 year old friends. They were stealing sheep or something

My kids LOVE it and watch Stampy on Youtube. They regularly hear me shout TURN THAT STUPID MAN DOWN or PUT YOUR HEADPHONES ON, he's making me want to punch something. I'm not a fan of Stampy.
