To wish minecraft had NEVER BEEN INVENTED?

Just as Ds1 gets bored of it, ds2 gets hooked.

Years and years of hearing about the bloody thing, having to look at the latest creation, being nagged to "join" only to have arrows fired at me and the lovely things I build blown up with TNT.

AND to make matters WORSE - the fucking YouTube videos where they watch someone else play and yak all the way through it.

PISS OFF MINECRAFT. JUST PISS OFF!

I guess it wouldn't help to know that I'm very happily creating a rainbow glass house for DS right now? He knows not to destroy my creations though!

DD is currently glued to the u tube vids, and has been all half term.

I dont know much about it but if I had this at that age I would have been mad for it too.

My DS(7) is obsessed with DanTDM, he watches so many of his tutorials which I wouldn't mind if he didn't try to tell me all about them afterwards!

Them playing minecraft I can cope with - its the feckin YouTube I'm sick of. Currently it's Ethan Gamer TV and Dantdm ALL THE TIME. ALL the time!!!
If it's not that, they are hogging my PC playing bloody roblox.

I got them from the asda home branch near us last week, have to pop in for something tomorrow so will have a look if they still have them and report back

My 8 yr old DS is obsessed with Minecraft & he loves the Dan TDM tutorials. I don't get the point of Minecraft- & my 13 yr old DS (helpfully) says there isn't one. But youngest DS is severely autistic & I'm amazed at his ability to look at any picture & recreate it in Minecraft - scale version of a McDonalds drive through anyone?

Okay this is going to make me sound very old but minecraft is a game. Dd1 plays and I kind of get it but leave her to it. Now, what's youtube got to do with it? I'm so confused I feel like my 90 year old granny!

Maybe I should ask asda/Dan tdm for commission?

Sometimes to get their attention my husband will adopt his voice and go "HELLOOOOO this is Daddy and welcome to another it's time to put your pyjamas on session".

DanTDM - my son (8) has just started to grow the top bit of his hair out so he can sweep it to the side like him.

All that said, I suspect we might look back on Minecraft with nostalgia once it has passed, in the same way I now do about Thomas the Tank Engine and the wonderful wooden train set we have - compared to some of the shite older teenagers like to play, it's pretty wholesome, creative and strategic. They are building, they are counting, they are engineering, in a sense.

One day they might be raping prostitutes on Grand Theft Auto so I guess I'll just suck it up for now!

Tatty I am going to try your husband's tactic! Yes, Dan TDM has a wife and a pug dog. DD (7) seems to have converted to yet another You tuber - Skylander Boy and considers herself American as she is continually watching videos about Pop Tart challenges and Beanboozled sweets. Don't really understand where Skylanders comes into this.....Nice to have a break from Stampy's voice although I find Squid quite funny.

Just before Christmas I was outside Argos when a woman and her son, about 7 or 8, walked past and as they did so she said in a genuinely pleading voice "Will you stop talking about Minecraft please!"
