well as it says really aibu to think a radio is not really a show of appreciation for a joint 40th and valentines gift?

its not a great stylish radio just a plain run of the mill crap one, and yes I do already have three radios that all work fine????

Tbh I personally thank it's a very nice gift,but I am a bit of a practical person

What were you secretly hoping for?

Msmuesli · 17/02/2016 21:14

maybe a meal out how many radios does a girl need?

blackbunny · 17/02/2016 21:16

Sorry I posted before I saw you've already got 3, in that case YANBU,could have been a bit more imaginative

gamerchick · 17/02/2016 21:16

I would be asking that very question.

Or lining them up all on playing a different station while he's eating his tea.

Cutecat78 · 17/02/2016 21:16

Did you tell him what you would like - ie sent link or circled picture in catalogue and put in front of his face?

If not YABU.

Bogeyface · 17/02/2016 21:21

Cute why should choosing a special gift be down to the OP?

Dont give me that "men are crap at presents" shite either, no they are not. Lazy people are crap at presents because they dont care enough to put any effort in. My father, husband, BIL and son are all great at giving gifts because they care enough to find out what the women in their lives want/like.

OP I got a DAB radio from H a couple of years ago, I was thrilled as I had been on about one for ages but could never justify the expense, so he got me one. Difference is that he knew I wanted one. YANBU and I hope that you have told him how you feel about it.

What are you going to do/say about it?

SaucyJack · 17/02/2016 21:22

YANBU.

It's a shit present if you already have three of them.

Msmuesli · 17/02/2016 21:22

Not I didn't exactly line up what I wanted but he knew I am trying to save up for a apple orchard so I would have thought that was the obvious thing but still least i can take it back I suppose.

sooperdooper · 17/02/2016 21:23

Seems odd if you have 3, is it a DAB radio?

What did you get him for valentines day?

Msmuesli · 17/02/2016 21:24

He has left saying I am ungrateful cow so .........

OP posts:
Msmuesli · 17/02/2016 21:25

sounds crap but I got him some thingy he wanted for his boat - and it cost a lot fucking more than a radio even if it is a DAB

OP posts:
ScarletForYa · 17/02/2016 21:27

A radio?

That's just shit. Have you asked him what the real present is?

Don't let him away with that.

Msmuesli · 17/02/2016 21:27

Does make me wonder why we bother with the while valentines crap more trouble than its worth.

OP posts:
acasualobserver · 17/02/2016 21:28

There is a very big difference between a radio and lots of apple trees. He needs to put this right.

Msmuesli · 17/02/2016 21:28

ha dont have and choice he proudly said he was off to strip club tonight for night with the lads

OP posts:
Cutecat78 · 17/02/2016 21:29

I think anyone buying a gift needs a little guidance and yes I think generally women are better at this than blokes.

AwfulBeryl · 17/02/2016 21:29

Is there a chance he thought you might like it? Do your others not pick up stations that you like or do things you would ?

Dp got me a radio a few weeks ago, but he got it so I could listen to Amazon prime music on it.

Cutecat78 · 17/02/2016 21:29

Seriously - fucking half term Hmm

Msmuesli · 17/02/2016 21:32

TBH I spend most time outside and working with machinery a radio is not going to cover the noise however great it is.

OP posts:
Floggingmolly · 17/02/2016 21:32

You already have three? Maybe he thinks you collect them...

Msmuesli · 17/02/2016 21:35

I get the impression he wanted me to get in a humph so he could sod off and piss about on the boat with his mates - just feel it would be nice to have the discussion rather than giving me something he know I would think was shit so he could storm out saying im never happy.

OP posts:
Msmuesli · 17/02/2016 21:36

year if anyones short Floggin Im your girl lol

OP posts:
DelphiniumBlue · 17/02/2016 21:39

See, my DH would also think that was a great present, because he loves radios and has loads of them - digital, analogue, short wave, who knew there were so many varieties!
But I would not be impressed personally, and I'm not surprised you're a bit upset. Is he normally crap at presents?

Msmuesli · 17/02/2016 21:46

Yes he isn't gifted in the present department but I think what with it being my 40th and all he might have made a bit of an effort.
Still guess it could have been worse and I took it back so he will have more cash to spent on his lads night out - which in its self pisses me off as we haven't been out for 18 months so kind of feel it should have been us.
