Let's have a fun thread!

What's in your makeup bag ladies?

Which foundation do you use? And do you wear makeup everyday?

notagiraffe, do you use primer before applying foundation? I went out and bought some (Benefit pore professional one) based on this thread, having never used it before and my foundation looks so much better. I am also pale and struggle to find foundation that suits me. So sick of buying foundations in shades with names like 'ivory' or 'porcelain' that it turns out, on my pasty face, still look bright fucking orange Hmm Closest I've found is Mac studio fix, their lightest shade seems to suit my skin -dry patches but sensitive and prone to breakouts since having DD. I think it makes my skin look healthier and more hydrated, even more so now I've started using primer underneath.

I have a make up box. I take a tinted lip balm, mirror and pressed translucent power out in my bag with me.
In the box there are loads of ancient lipsticks, some missing lids, liquid eyeliners from last year, concealer sticks in various "skin" shades and a couple of dried up mascara.

I need to chuck the whole lot out and start again.

Yorksha I bought the Benefit porefessional and used it until it ran out, but didn't really think it helped that much so didn't buy it again. That was a couple of years ago though. Maybe I should try again. Skin still looked orange and clotted, even if I used the tiniest amount of pale foundation.

So I started typing but it was easier to just take pictures.

So in my make up bag that goes in whichever handbag I'm using is the following.

Fetishising Collecting makeup and beauty products is a hobby to a surprising number of people!

I do wear makeup sometimes. I wear Chanel Vitalumiere foundation, a bit of concealer (its a pencil, not sure of the brand), that Origins cheek stain blush that comes in a minute silver tube, Bourgois dark grey or sage green pencil eye liner, eyeshadow (got a variety of singles, No 7, Body Shop), Max Factor 2000 calorie black mascara and one of 2 or 3 lip glosses. It all fits in to one makeup bag.

Not a criticism at all, but how to you lot afford such posh brands of make-up?!

Report
phlebasconsidered · 18/02/2016 20:57

I have:
Whatever mascara I was last got as a present
An old blusher i got as a present
Brown eyeliner
Brush eyeliner
some brownish eyeshadow palette from maybelline
Some blueish palette ditto
lip balm in various shades
Some maybelline concealer.
nothing else.

I am 44.
I pop a bit of concealer under eyes, not much else. bit of shadow, bit of lip colour. I look alright. I think.....

These threads make me think i'm underdone. But my primary class always say I look beautiful. Especially if I wear "fun" earrings.

I wear make up every day but have realised that I must be incredibly low maintenance, compared to the list of stuff you lovely ladies have.

MapCat

I can't speak for anyone else but in my case it's a combination of things.

The crux I suppose is that I have a well paid job and indulge on something I like.

Having said that, what you have seen has been accumulated over quite a long period of time.

Obviously I change "wet" products like mascara etc regularly, however powder eye shadows/blusher last for ages.

I tend to buy "little and often" so treat myself to a new lipstick for example once a month.

Also a lot of my CT "stash" was the result of birthday and Christmas presents.

I suffer from eczema - which I generally keep under control now - however in my teens it was a nightmare.

As such I suppose I prioritise "skincare" and "make up" in a way those of you with "normal" skin possibly find very indulgent.

That's why there's a trend to certain brands as I know they won't irritate my skin. They are not always high end - astral moisturiser is a staple for me - but drugstore make up just doesn't work for me.

So after trial and error I now stick to Bobbi Brown, Nars, Estée Lauder and more recently Charlotte Tilbury.

For skincare I love Liz Earle, Eve Lom and Astral :-)

Primark black kohl - I stole my teenagers once and fell in love.
Mac false lash mascara
Hand Cream.

I don't wear makeup very often at all. Once a month maybe... And then only what is above. I'm mid 40's and haven't really ever bothered. Now I'm wondering if I should. I have never worn foundation or used powder. Do you think Im missing a trick? How do you learn to apply the stuff?

Wash with soap and water.

Now moisturisers... Those I have a fair few of Smile

Nars tinted moisturiser
Maybelline concealer
L'oreal telescopic mascara
NYX orange under eye concealer
MAC blusher in peach

That's what goes on daily.

And if we happen to be going out I add -
Tom ford contour pallette
KIKO 208 Eyeshadow ie Mac whisper of gilt highlighter dupe

There is a lot more but it is stored in muji clear plastic drawersShock
