To think that Victoria Beckham looks plain daft?

She's in New York to launch her latest collection and has been papped strutting out of hotels in some dreadful outfits. All can be viewed in the Daily Mail but for those of you who don't like to click I will post a few and you can tell me if I'm BU.

iPaid you say you're not disparaging the woman, but criticising her outfits. Why then, is your OP entitled To think that Victoria Beckham looks plain daft?

By the way, if you were the editor of a tabloid and had several hundred photos of one person to choose from, would you always pick the ones that show that celebrity at their smiling, happy, glamorous best - or would you pick the pictures that show them looking miserable, bad-tempered, or in some other way not in their best light? Hmmm... thought so.

A1Sharon · 12/02/2016 19:15

I see she is using her invisible phone again, wonder where she got it?

iPaid · 12/02/2016 19:16

Lying - you're overthinking this, you really are. I haven't plundered a tabloid for evidence; I look at the Mail on Line for the same reason millions of others do; they have a fab selection of photographs. I saw these pictures and thought to myself 'iPaid, VB looks reet daft in that clobber. Are you right or out of touch? I shall consult MN and see what they think'.

It's nothing to do with the patriarchy. I don't like her cullottes and oversized jumpers that's all.

I'm not a massive fan of her collection, although some of its ok. But then again, I doubt she'd be in raptures over my style. However she's successful and thin, so let's slag her off anyway.

Fwiw it's beyond my personal experience to understand how people can overeat/ be sedentary enough to be overweight. But not being a stupid twat, I can understand not everybody has the same thought process as me regarding food and exercise so it wouldn't cross my mind to even care what they look like, let alone judge them, or insult either their appearance or motivation for being fat.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 12/02/2016 19:19

iPaid... No, I'm not, I'm really not. Conversely though, you are under-thinking or possibly giving it a miss altogether.

We'll never agree so I will leave you to your rather nasty 'entertainment'

Flingingmelon · 12/02/2016 19:19

I want all of it!

iPaid · 12/02/2016 19:19

dodo - the Mail show lots of pictures of VB looking great. And they love showcasing Amal Clooney looking wonderful.

I like the clothes, nice colours, they look pretty high quality. Not the shoes as they're so high but the rest is nice. I don't get what's so off about the outfits.

laceysue · 12/02/2016 19:23

I always thought it a bit of a cop out to say she didn't like her smile, hence the lack of it. Don't believe it for a minute. A smile is spontaneous, but whatever, she doesn't have to smile if she doesn't want, she could at least look content though, rather than sour faced. She's a very fortunate person, she could at least have the good grace to look reasonably happy. The rest of us manage somehow.

iPaid · 12/02/2016 19:24

Lying - ok you go off and pretend to be a feminist by insulting me (which is ironic seeing as you're accusing me of being nasty). I'll be a feminist and give my opinion on a fashion designer's outfit. You insult the woman (me!) I'll stick to the clothes.

Wannabe2015 · 12/02/2016 19:27

I like what she wears in the main. But then I like the oversized look. I think it's much more appealing than too tight (I'm looking at you Herve Leger)

TheDowagerCuntess · 12/02/2016 19:31

I'm envious of anyone who has their own style, even if it's not a style I'd go for. Having said that, I really like a couple of those outfits.

Agree with a pp who said we'll all be wearing watered down versions in another 18 months.

I thought everyone knew why she didn't smile - she doesn't like the way she looks in photos. And has for 'having the good grace to look happy, like then rest of us' - ha! - I do tend to smile in photos (although usually end up looking like Chandler Bing), but I don't walk down the street (like she is in those pics) smiling inanely for anyone who might look at me. I would be given a wide berth by most people if I did that. Grin

Tangfastics · 12/02/2016 19:33

I think the op has received some bizarre responses on this thread. It's a thread about fashion!

And people who use HTH are arses.

TheDowagerCuntess · 12/02/2016 19:34

She does smile in interviews, doesn't she? And I'm sure she smiles in regular conversation with friends and family.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 12/02/2016 19:40

OP I think you should have posted in Style and Beauty to get a more detached response to your thread!

iminshock · 12/02/2016 19:41

Yanbu
Daft indeed

DickDewy · 12/02/2016 19:42

I really don't like her clothes from 'her' collections but I guess this is all great publicity for her lines. I bet she looks nicer off duty.

Have you ever seen video footage of these photo ops? Very, very strange indeed - not like a normal person walking or even a model on a catwalk - something else entirely.

I've said this before on here, but I once walked through a terminal at JFK at the same time as her. It was fascinating how much effort she put into that photo op. She acted totally normal once the cameras had gone.

The photos always end up pretty good and non crazy - so I guess she knows what she's doing!

UnhappyNeedHelp · 12/02/2016 19:47

I think she looks great.

Funny how it's okay to ridicule someone for being into fashion, but it would be wrong to mock someone for not being.

iPaid · 12/02/2016 19:49

Eh?

GarlicBake · 12/02/2016 19:49

OP I think you should have posted in Style and Beauty to be told Beckham would look much better in a fitted dress, nice cardigan accessorised with a neatly tied scarf, and those heels are far too clumpy Wink

Likeaninjanow · 12/02/2016 19:51

I love, and would wear, all of it. Life is too short for boring clothesGrin

Believeitornot · 12/02/2016 19:51

At least she is flashing bits of skin and is dressed pretty modestly.

Believeitornot · 12/02/2016 19:51

At least she isnt

BeaufortBelle · 12/02/2016 19:52

I think the outfits look OK. I have seen far worse. Why does how Victoria Beckham looks bother you?

iPaid · 12/02/2016 19:55

It doesn't bother me, Beau. I'm interested in other's opinion of her outfits. It's some other people who are getting bothered.
