'I'm only not paying my bills because employers aren't paying me'

Am I being unreasonable to think 'why should I pay my bills to you, the employers of the world, when you aren't paying the employees of the world enough to pay their bills?

Its gets me so annoyed..the ONLY reason I am not paying my bills is because I don't have enough money. The reason I don't have enough money is I'm not paid enough, the reason I'm not paid enough is because we all used to borrow.. BECAUSE WE WERENT PAID ENOUGH .. And the only reasons employers could pay not enough was because we have been trained not to argue, with them, then borrow... Now it's all not working (again) why should I pay my bills...

Can't I just forward them to my crappy employers??

Don't pay your bills then. But when the shit hits the fan, that won't be taken as a valid reason for not paying

It isnt the recipients of your bills fault that you are (1) on a low wage and/or (2) have debts.

'Employers' are not one homogenous entity. And they have bills too. Just sayin.

I've no particular regard for 'business' either but no one's making you work for them.

I kinda like the idea of working for (eg) British Gas, and then not paying my gas bill because I don't earn enough. Is that what you mean?

But they are your bills, not your employer's. They are not responsible for your borrowing.

Obviously if they aren't paying you a fair wage that's an issue. But it sounds like you need help with budgeting or debt management rather than going on some sort of bill paying strike.

You have used goods and/or services.

You agreed to the price.

Now you pay it.

If you want to discuss whether goods and services cost to much, or whether people in certain areas are underpaid, ranting about sending your bills to your employer is not the way to go about it.

You don't sound capable of having a rational discussion, so nobody will want to discuss it with you.

How entitled of you. You have already used a service therefore you have a bill to pay. If you can't pay it because your employer hasn't paid you enough, then you find one that will. Refusing to pay because it's someone else's fault is just ridiculous.

It's about living within your means. A lot of people say they can't pay the bills but they can afford to get their hair dyed/cigarettes/holidays etc. Borrowing money is never the answer, unless it's very short term.

This borrowing thing-what were you borrowing to pay for? I'm guessing it wasn't essentials. There was a really interesting programme called "the men who made us spend" about how the advertising industry conned is all into thinking we needed all sorts of stuff that we didn't, and couple with easy credit lots of people got used to living outside their means. It isn't nice having a strict budget to stick to but it's worth it to be debt free in the end.

If your suppliers pay their staff more, your bills will go up. Maybe your employer will also then pay you more, but then whatever product/service you work in will become more expensive too and no-one will be any better off.

Yabu, stop spending money you don't have and take responsibility for yourself.

Go ahead and get your utilities cut off if you like. You'll probably end up eventually with a County Court Judgment against you too for good measure.

We all have to pay for what we use.

£27k is not a ridiculously low wage and is more than about 70% of the country earns. It can buy a perfectly decent lifestyle and if you think not, your expectations are too high.

In some parts of the country, housing is too expensive, but that is a completely separate issue - people on 2/3/4 times the average wage cannot afford housing in London, so even if wages went up hugely, people aren't suddenly going to be able to afford housing in expensive areas.

We are a service provider and pay our staff considerably more than other service providers within the same industry, however this means we do need to charge our customers more than other similar service providers.

They are willing to pay us more because we provide a high level of service which is enabled by a low staff turnover which is, in part due to the fact we pay high.

This to support what Barbara just said, the more we pay, the more we need to charge to stay afloat.

It's very interesting to see how many posters haven't read the OP properly, and/or have made assumptions about things which haven't been indicated at all in the OP!

I completely get your frustration OP and I'm not sure why you're getting battered for venting.

But yes why not go and walk into a higher paid job instead of choosing to be in poverty, because it's that simple some of you are not in the real world.

The minions have more power than we think, enough of us just don't get together and use that power though. POWER TO THE PEOPLE and all that.
