'I'm only not paying my bills because employers aren't paying me'

Lanark2 · 12/02/2016 08:27

Am I being unreasonable to think 'why should I pay my bills to you, the employers of the world, when you aren't paying the employees of the world enough to pay their bills?

Its gets me so annoyed..the ONLY reason I am not paying my bills is because I don't have enough money. The reason I don't have enough money is I'm not paid enough, the reason I'm not paid enough is because we all used to borrow.. BECAUSE WE WERENT PAID ENOUGH .. And the only reasons employers could pay not enough was because we have been trained not to argue, with them, then borrow... Now it's all not working (again) why should I pay my bills...

Can't I just forward them to my crappy employers??

Just to add, we're too busy working for the MAN. Confused

Quodlibet · 12/02/2016 09:02

The way to protest the gap between your pay and your costs of living is to withdraw your labour - go on strike - not buy stuff you can't pay for/get into debt and then default on it.

BarbaraofSeville · 12/02/2016 09:04

Yes, we could all stop buying crap we don't need and all those litle expensive luxuries, so we could afford not to work for the MAN, but the popularity of the likes of Apple, Amazon, Starbucks, McDonalds etc would suggest that most people think it is worth working to pay The MAN.

Lanark2 · 12/02/2016 09:04

Wow..assumptionville..

I did make the choice, actually to be a billionaire, but it wasn't ratified.

Where have your debts come from? Have you talked to anyone about an affordable repayment plan?

BarbaraofSeville · 12/02/2016 09:08

OK then OP, why don't you post more information instead of an incoherent rant?

Borrowing to pay essential bills is never going to work, but unfortunately we don't live in a world that gives electricity etc for free to people who can't pay for it.

AlpacaMyThings · 12/02/2016 09:13

How ridiculous.

If you don't earn enough, you should take responsibility for ensuring you have the right qualifications and training to get better paid job where ever you live in the country, and continue doing this throughout your adult working life. And ensure you pay into a pension. Don't spend beyond your means. Your income is your responsibility not anyone elses.

elegantlygrey1 · 12/02/2016 09:15

Can you explain your OP?

Hillingdon · 12/02/2016 09:16

What an odd thing to post. Go and get yourself a better paid job or learn how to budget!

I had a friend who worked for the local council and helped people who found themselves with debt and who were on solely benefits. The vast majority were clueless as to what was 'essential'. They would put going out, fags and TV way before gas and electricity.

She lasted 6 months and left. A couple of people complained that she had told them to put decent food/heating, lighting etc above some of the things they thought were important and she was accused of 'picking' on them so she gave up in despair.

Lanark2 · 12/02/2016 09:20

Er stop projecting weirdos!Grin

I am v. Qualified, and also v. Hardworking and doing three jobs and still not able to afford council tax, rent, travel food and electricity..

Wages are actually vulnerable to competition from pitiful handouts designed just to keep you alive..yet the businesses that are paying those crappy wages seem to have profits that could double and treble the wage bill. How do we all agree to this!..

MardyGrave · 12/02/2016 09:23

Do you live in London? That's the only reason I can think why working three jobs wouldn't okay enough.

London is the capital of the world, it plays by its own rules and is set up for the super wealthy.

Advanced Search function is your friend here, Elegant

Oysterbabe · 12/02/2016 09:35

I earn just under the average wage, have no debt, pay my bills and own my house. Maybe you need to figure out how you can live within your means.

Stormtreader · 12/02/2016 09:35

Food, travel and rent arent all a fixed price. Sounds like you need to move to somewhere cheaper.

Hillingdon · 12/02/2016 09:40

Why don't you put up a SOA so that we can assist you. If you are doing 3 jobs then something is going very wrong...

InsufficientlyCaffeinated · 12/02/2016 09:47

YANBU. Unfortunately that's how capitalism works - pay people as little as you can for their labour to make maximum profit from their labour and charge people as much as you can to get maximum profit the other end.

This is why Ford was revolutionary when it paid employees more because it recognised that it needed people to be able to afford its cars. If those employees spent more, other businesses could hire more staff, and more people could afford their cars. Doesn't happen that why any more, it's squeeze as much as you can then sit on your cash reserves while everybody suffers.

AyeAmarok · 12/02/2016 09:47

The OP doesn't want our help and advice, Hillingdon. He just wants us to agree that it's Everyone Else's Fault.

RedToothBrush · 12/02/2016 09:53

If a business was to say this, it would first renegotiate its debts then go bankrupt. It would be regarded as being poor money management. It wouldn't get paid more by its customers. This option is also open to individuals.

But yeah lets go straight to the revolution option as that won't lead to hardship either.

Lanark2 · 12/02/2016 09:54

Haha aye is the supreme Commander of What Everyone Else Thinks..look at her look at her!!

OP posts:
Lanark2 · 12/02/2016 09:58

I'm just making the point that it's silly to scrat around paying bills that are only there because the same set of people set the market so low that it doesn't work..for most people..all those people involved in collecting bills that can't be paid because of poor wage-setting..

Actually a lot of non payment of bills is done by businesses.. Far more than that by individuals, so why do we feel guilty about not paying?

OP posts:
Lanark2 · 12/02/2016 10:00

Actually that's not true, businesses hope that the people they owe go bankrupt first.. And the banks help with that game..why can't we play it as consumers?

OP posts:
DrDreReturns · 12/02/2016 10:00

I don't understand what you're saying.
