Their new song with that twatbag Jason 'Da Ruler'.
About shagging a tosser behind their current fellas back. Nice.
Just what we should be glamourising for youngsters.
I know the answer will be yes/get a grip/odfod/its not real/its just a song/YABU to listen to Little Mix at all but AIBU to be disapointed that a group who influence youngsters and are usually renowned for their take no crap and never be second best attitude have made such a song?

Oops pressed too soon.
I think most of Little Mix songs are like that. I'm hoping it goes over DD 's head for now.

fastingmum123 · 03/02/2016 18:39

I watched grease for the first time since I was about 14 and honestly never noticed the whole pregnancy storyline as a child. I always remember thinking she looked really cool at the end but I love motorbikes so probably something to do with that look.

One thing I always remember is being about 8 in my uncles car with my sister who would have been about 7 getting embarrassed/giggling by a prince song he used to play in his car that said the word naked.

HanYOLO · 03/02/2016 18:48

Given their entire market is prepubescent girls I think its a bit gross

But yeah, I think they are all a bit like that

leccybill · 03/02/2016 19:08

A colleague and I agreed that we liked Jason Derulo's music in the same way we like cheap noodles and Wotsits. A bit scummy but surprisingly moreish.

DiscoMoo · 03/02/2016 19:18

Their last song was worse, IMO (love me like you do).

just realised that the multiple replays of 'sex on the beach,' at every primary school disco of my childhood may have been a teeny bit inappropriate...

Little Mix abvu due solely to the stupid video for black magic, in which for no discernible reason they pretend they are american in some weird high school/college hybrid rip off of the Craft. FFS if you're trying to crack the US your USP is that you are British and have the x factor/1 D connection!

flightywoman · 03/02/2016 19:22

I was pretty shocked by Freak Me by Another Level when that came out...

"Let me lick you up and down till you say stop" It's not a veiled reference is it!

fastingmum123 · 03/02/2016 19:25

My dd was obsessed with Megan trainer (sp?) some of her lyrics are awful especially Marvin Gaye "karma sutra show and tell" is one of lyrics. Then again most of her music makes me irrationally angry.

ClarenceTheLion · 03/02/2016 19:29

There is a Jason-Derulo free version on their album too. They must have anticipated that some people would prefer that!

CaveMum · 03/02/2016 19:38

The worst one of recent times was the Stooshe (sp?) song "Black Heart":

"I don't like it when you break me honey
Why'd you have to do that?
Tell me when you'll make these tears keep falling
Do you feel like a man?

Figure, figure there's no working you out whatsoever
Only one way I can sum you up altogether
You got a black heart

Daddy I've fallen for a monster
Somehow he's scaring me to death
He's big and he's bad
I love him like mad
Momma, he's the best I ever had
Daddy I've fallen for a monster
He got a black heart"
Etc

WT actual F Shock

Sidge · 03/02/2016 19:51

But surely music reflects real life?

Love, loss, cheating, lying, hope, fears, birth, death, sex, drugs and rock and roll?

Wouldn't it be dull if all lyrics were about glitter and kittens Grin

TSSDNCOP · 03/02/2016 19:55

I think that's a really shit song Cavemum and it got so much air play.

OhBigHairyBollocks · 03/02/2016 20:03

I'm more gutted about the fact that they have really been "sexed up" lately. Saw them live on the x factor and was really saddened to see them dressed in well.. Hardly anything, supposed to be encouraging youngsters and they're wearing that.

Crikeyme · 03/02/2016 20:08

I can't place the song at the moment, but I must admit that kids singing (however innocently) anything sexual makes me feel very protective and uncomfortable. I remember my niece singing 'Your sex is on fire' when she was about 3 and my SIL finding it hilarious, but it just made me squirm and think of Mini Pops. I don't care if they don't understand it, I bloody can!

spanky2 · 03/02/2016 20:15

Thumbwitch I hate that song by the police! I think it's about him stalking her too! Creepy much?
My cousin and his wife danced their first married dance to careless whisper.

MumOfTheMoment · 03/02/2016 20:23

7yr old dd's favourite song at the mo is "I'm sixty and I know it" Grin

aliasjoey · 03/02/2016 20:27

I love the Bee Gees "You win again" but the lyrics sound dodgy... Or is it just me?

Oh baby I shake you from now on
I'm gonna break down your defenses
One by one
I'm gonna hit you from all sides
Lay your fortress open wide
Nobody stops this body from
Taking you

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/02/2016 20:46

Isn't the Police song inspired by him being stalked?

spanky2 · 03/02/2016 20:57

I thought sting wrote it during his divorce from his first wife.

fastingmum123 · 03/02/2016 20:59

I thought he wrote it during his divorce too

stoptryingtomakefetchhappen · 03/02/2016 21:12

I never really registered any of the lyrics when I was a kid. Just didn't notice. I don't think most kids do tbh. A friend of mine lived in the US for a bit when we were kids and introduced me to Az Yet's song 'Last Night'. Not a very well known song here but after hearing it again recently I am shocked I thought nothing of 'last night, I was inside of you'...I went round the house singing that song with gay abandon!

Housemum · 04/02/2016 10:21

How many kids sing along to Barbie Girl? DD2 is now 12, she was singing along on Singstar and was shocked when she read the words. She had never thought it about anything other than dolls when she was 5 or 6, "you can brush my hair/undress me anywhere", and "come on, disco doll, hanky panky".

Sex on The Beach was at all the school discos when DD1 was at juniors.

I had no idea what most of Grease was about when I watched it as a kid (the whole condom splitting in the car just went straight over my head, and I wouldn't even know what "the chicks all cream for greased lightning" meant) so the Little Mix lyrics are pretty subtle by comparison

PurpleTreeFrog · 04/02/2016 10:37

I was a child in the 90s and merrily sang and danced along to "I'm horny - horny horny HORNY!" when I was about 10... I don't think I knew what it meant until years later!

greenkitee · 04/02/2016 16:31

Yes YABU. I listened to songs that had lyrics of sucking dick fast and sitting on it. And sex on the beach.
Many 'artists' have done it already and much worse

Galaxymum · 27/02/2016 14:29

The Little Mix Secret Love song is very possibly about Harry and Louis from One Direction. If you reread the lyrics with them in mind it takes on a whole new meaning.
