Their new song with that twatbag Jason 'Da Ruler'.
About shagging a tosser behind their current fellas back. Nice.
Just what we should be glamourising for youngsters.
I know the answer will be yes/get a grip/odfod/its not real/its just a song/YABU to listen to Little Mix at all but AIBU to be disapointed that a group who influence youngsters and are usually renowned for their take no crap and never be second best attitude have made such a song?

I don't know how he has the energy for farming, what with the 400 children. Not to mention poor Lucille, no wonder she is leaving. :(

CoraPirbright · 03/02/2016 12:46

Maybe I am getting liberal in my old age but that song wouldn't really bother me. Not when you get Nicole Sherzinger singing things like:

come here baby put your hands on my body
Hands on my body oh oh oh
Right there keep it right there
I love when you put it right there oh oh oh
Yeah yeah oh oh oh
Yeah

I like the way that you talk dirty
Don't wash your mouth out I like it dirty

etc. The song also says that she likes him "going down down down"

FFS Hmm

MonstrousPippin · 03/02/2016 12:58

For recent songs, Nick Jonas's Jealous is far worse. Horrible lyrics. Someone who acts like that does NOT love you, kids.

MonstrousPippin · 03/02/2016 13:01

Specially:

"I wish you didn't have to post it out
I wish you'd save a little bit just for me"

Eww.

BurtMacklinsWife · 03/02/2016 13:14

The Little Mix song is apparently partially to do with being gay - the video will apparently feature a gay couple.

It's perhaps not the sole message of the song, but I think it's about various things rather than cheating.

When DS was 4 going on 5, that dreadful song with the refrain (dreadful on aesthetic grounds) "ooh sexy lady" was all the rage - except DS sang it as "ooh saxy lady" which always conjured up an image of a woman playing a sax.

But it's not exactly a new phenomenon. The Minions Movie has a great 60s soundtrack, and the one DS is particularly taken with at the moment is Mellow Yellow Grin.

Jason's singing about one thing and Little Mix are somewhere else entirely according to that link.

Reckon this is only going to end with Justin Bieber's Love Yourself cranked to the max and Adele should just stop hitting up his phone and leave the poor boy alone.

On balance I think YABU as the song undermines the myth going round my teenage DD's school that everyone should be coupled up and owned ASAP - the attitudes they come home telling me about make me feel we have gone back to the dark ages.

fastingmum123 · 03/02/2016 13:35

I watched the YouTube link and I would agree it's about cheating especially the part where he talks about weather she would leave him if he was ready to settle down.

bornwithaplasticspoon · 03/02/2016 13:47

I love Little Mix. Seen them three times with the dc's and they have lovely voices live. Lots of their lyrics are dodgy 'I really need a man who can do it like I can' etc.

I grew up on Madonna and have turned out OK.. ish

Liska · 03/02/2016 14:03

My 8 year old caught me unconsciously singing along to 1 Direction and gave me a lecture on why it's a terrible song because it's about 'my girl' and the lyrics 'she belongs to me' is "Just wrong, mummy!! She belongs to herself! People can't own each other!" I'm desperately hoping she keeps thinking critically once puberty is in full flow.

MinionsAssemble · 03/02/2016 14:17

It can be taken in two different ways, the one with Jason Derulo is about a secret relationship, so could be a cheating relationship yes. However the version without him (the part 2 one) has been called an anthem for the LGBTQ community and how some couples can't be outwardly together in public; they need to keep relationships secret. Depends how you look at it really!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 03/02/2016 14:41

But I know this, we got a love that is homeless

Ivan Novello in the post? Hmm

EponasWildDaughter · 03/02/2016 14:47

Relax don't do it
When you want to suck to it
Relax don't do it
When you want to come

But shoot it in the right direction
Make making it your intention ... etc etc

I remember belting that out as a kid. Meant nothing to me Grin

MrsJayy · 03/02/2016 14:55

I blasted from my record player my dad was raging snigger

bornwithaplasticspoon · 03/02/2016 15:46

It was only when my dc's started watching Grease that I realised how filthy 'Greased lightening' is.

Schwabischeweihnachtskanne · 03/02/2016 15:53

Grease is one of those films I am always slightly surprised that my peers nostalgically sit their 5 year olds down to watch, and rejoice when they love it and know all the songs... Should be a 12 really Wink ... actually in many countries PG does not exist as a rating and some PGs are rated 6 and some 12... Wonder if people would show it to smallish kids if it was a 12...

bornwithaplasticspoon · 03/02/2016 16:02

I think I was about 8 when I saw Grease at the cinema. I just loved Danny and Sandy and all the songs, the actual storyline didn't really penetrate. What's more disturbing to me now than the song lyrics and car fumbling etc is that Sandy has to dress like a slapper before Danny notices her.

Schwabischeweihnachtskanne · 03/02/2016 16:07

He did notice her though born, when they had a holiday romance before the action of the film takes place. Isn't the film about peer pressure then - he still likes her but worries what his peers will think. In the end they both simultaneously change their appearance in a mistaken attempt to be what the other wants - I always assumed that part of the message was actually quite positive (be yourself despite all the peer pressure, those who matter will like you for yourself not your clothes etc.)

JessicaJones · 03/02/2016 16:19

Except that he ditches the dorky cardigan pretty quickly, and she sticks with the skintight pvc and the cigarettes.

Back on topic - I remember singing along with my (much) older sisters to 'Get Off' by Prince. They stopped at one point and I kept singing - "23 positions in a one night stand..." They fell about laughing, I didn't have a clue what I was singing.

Galaxymum · 03/02/2016 16:50

Ahh the good old days of Take That and Give Good Feeling to Me - them writhing along the floor on stage.

And they used to have a drop off point where parents could drop and pick up their daughters.

TobleroneBoo · 03/02/2016 17:13

Sounds a bit Romeo and Juliet like to me but maybe I am reading pg lyrics

GreatFuckability · 03/02/2016 17:25

Jason and Jesy should both stop with the runs on every word. its not big and its not clever.

that said, one of my favourite songs as a early teen was 'too much love will kill you' by queen. thats basically the same gist.

Sleepingonthebus · 03/02/2016 18:24

I've been criticised by family for not letting my 10yo DD watch Grease but I don't want her to think she has to change for anybody, or that sex without protection is OK because she won't get pregnant anyway.

There is plenty of time for those talks a bit later on.

seafoodeatit · 03/02/2016 18:29

I have no idea who the guy is and vaguely know of the band as DH seems to always know more than me! It is just a song, all bands/music aimed at teens/preteens are riddled with some questionable lyrics and even more so video clips.
