Their new song with that twatbag Jason 'Da Ruler'.
About shagging a tosser behind their current fellas back. Nice.
Just what we should be glamourising for youngsters.
I know the answer will be yes/get a grip/odfod/its not real/its just a song/YABU to listen to Little Mix at all but AIBU to be disapointed that a group who influence youngsters and are usually renowned for their take no crap and never be second best attitude have made such a song?

OP posts:
Oogle · 03/02/2016 11:35

"When you're with him, do you call his name
Like you do when you're with me? Does it feel the same?
Would you leave if I was ready to settle down?
Or would you play it safe and stay?"

"And nobody knows I'm in love with someone's baby
I don't wanna hide us away"

The lyrics posted in the link are from "part 2" (wtf?! I'm guessing it's the version with out Derulo)

But the lyrics I've quoted DO suggest it's a song about cheating.

I like the song though so I will say YABU Grin

Oh but then I hate Derulo. So YANBU for that.

Schwabischeweihnachtskanne · 03/02/2016 11:36

Actually those lyrics could be about a Romeo and Juliet type relationship, not an affair. (Only just read them, never heard the song, guess it hasn't made it to Bavarian local radio :o )

Try discretely monitoring what your kids listen to when their favourite bands sing in German... argh! :o

Schwabischeweihnachtskanne · 03/02/2016 11:39

Cross posted with Oogle - yep those lyrics are quite clearly about cheating - the ones OP linked to could be, but could also be about any kind of "forbidden" love, such as teens or young adults in a gay or interracial relationship when the lovers' families and communities are strongly expected to disapprove, or indeed Romeo and Juliet/ West Side Story type stuff...

Spice Girls 2 Become 1 was actually a very responsible song though wasn't it?!

I haven't registered the lyrics of this particular song OP, but I hate hate hate with a passion all the songs where girls are only allowed to think themselves attractive after a boy has validated them. This is DO NOT think is a message that should be listened to.

I know that many sexual lyrics went user my head as it were, but when it's part of a wider theme in society it's very annoying!

frogletsproglets · 03/02/2016 11:52

Little Mix just try too hard. Yes the song lyrics are dire. I do think children don't really take in the lyrics thankfully, but its just a real shame these songs are aimed at a really young age group now. Also hate the message to teen girls ie you are the sum total of your sexuality & that is what defines you. There's always been pressure on young girls re. that and at the risk of sounding old fashioned I preferred the days when it wasn't so relentless & "in your face", it promotes insecurity amongst girls and does the job for dumb boys who want and expect sex on tap, the overall message that girls who don't do it are way behind the times. Awful

mistressdeecee has it

yanbu op

an even worse one atm is that WSTRN one, it references that he's "been through" all her friends (ie fucked them) he calls girls "it" ....refers to "wrappin it up as soon as I get with it" ie dumping girls once he has fucked them....and saying that he has been "in and out of girls" - LOVELY

urgh so horrible and unfortunately from what I have seen a lot of young males do actually have this sort of attitude, I dread when my girls get to their teenage years

PrimalLass · 03/02/2016 11:54

It's nothing compared to bloody Zayn's new song. I've banned my 7-year-old from watching it on youtube. Twat.

Yanbu. Highly depressing.

I think this video sums things up very well.

"You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille", I heard it yesterday and realized that he is not singing "400 children and a crop in the fields". Buzzardbird - what do you mean, those aren't the real lyrics? That's what I hear when I listen to the song. Smile

elfycat · 03/02/2016 12:06

Bah... Every Xmas...

Don;t know what you're worrying about really.

MrsJayy · 03/02/2016 12:07

Its a song they are adult women what would you like them to sing about playing on swings and making daisy chains? Most songs are about love sex and relationships

MrsJayy · 03/02/2016 12:10

What kenny doesnt have 400 children or crops are you sure ?

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 03/02/2016 12:11

I recently looked up the lyrics to Brown Sugar, can't remember why, but was horrified by them - never really thought about what I was singing (only really knew the chorus, I suppose!)
I also had to stop singing along to "In the Summertime" by Mungo Jerry - awful!

So so many. I had a friend who refused to listen to Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn" as well because of what the lyrics were.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 03/02/2016 12:12

Kenny:
You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille
With four hungry children
And a crop in the field

Jo4040 · 03/02/2016 12:12

OMG Spice girls 2 become 1. I'm 24 and only just realised what that song is about. Dirty little.... I belted that out when I was 6 so innocently! Grin

MrsJayy · 03/02/2016 12:15

I remember a 7ish Dd gyrating and singing Dontcha wish your boyfriend was hot like me Shock

Bluebolt · 03/02/2016 12:16

I was of the innocent age of not knowing the meaning of Relax by frankie and singing it at the top of my voice and the more the talked about the ban the louder I belted it out.

MrsJayy · 03/02/2016 12:17

Oh my good mind blown meh I always thought kenny had 400 children

MrsJayy · 03/02/2016 12:18

I had welcome to the pleasure dome and the more my dad hated it the louder i played it

SevenOfNineTrue · 03/02/2016 12:19

It's nothing compared to bloody Zayn's new song.

So true.

Branleuse · 03/02/2016 12:21

^what mrsJayy said^

most songs seem to be about shagging, cheating, money, drinking and drugs, and then of course theres the videos.

Teladi · 03/02/2016 12:21

The first time I heard that song, I said to my husband 'That girl should probably leave her boyfriend if he's trying to keep their relationship a secret, he sounds dodgy' however it's better than all the sexually suggestive songs complete with practically explicit videos!

Samcro · 03/02/2016 12:22

"And a crop in the field"

omg does that mean he isn't a farmer.??
i always thought he had 400 children

toomuchtooold · 03/02/2016 12:23

Schwabisch mine (also bilingual) also pick up on song lyrics, despite being very young. I recently sang them Anarchy in the UK (ow my throat) when they wanted to hear "an angry song", and there were lots of interesting questions. They sing it at Kindergarten now to show me up Grin. They've brought back something that ends "popo", you've probably heard it, they sing it in town for maximum embarassment factor.

SoupDragon · 03/02/2016 12:35

There is nothing wrong with "Baby It's Cold Outside" when you remember it was written in 1944.

Of course, when you analyse the lyrics using modern behaviours, it comes across quite differently.
