Dawson's creek has to be one of the most frustrating shows ever. I have watched it end to end around 8 times. (Currently watching again) and each time if get more and more pissed off with this whole idea that Dawson has some sort of claim over Joey's virginity! All the fretting and hand wringing over whether she had sex with pacey and then her lying when she did and Gretchen telling her she has to go and tell him the truth. BOLLOCKS. She has to tell no-one. Her sex life was never Dawson's business (except that one time way later in university when they had sex with each other) he has no right to know any of it. I hate that whole storyline and the several years of pandering to the notion he had!

I completely agree with you.

The storyline where Joey and Pacey gradually fall in love even though they know they are not supposed to because they hate each other and love Dawson, is one of the most exquisite teen angsty pieces of TV ever. In its way, so too is Dawson's heartbroken chimpanzee face, the annoying controlling bastard.

I'm going to count to ten, and then I'm going to kiss you....

"What's normal? Those damn... Dawson's river kids sleeping in each other's beds and what not? "

Andie kind of reminds me of Charlotte from Revenge. actually that should probably be the other way round!

Grin olivia!

That reminds me of Grams in season 1 talking about how that girl from down the creek has been climbing through the window of that boy from next door since they were 5. As if they were being sinful heathens aged 5! Grin little did Grams know it would be a loooong time before dawson was sinful with anyone (and then it was her granddaughter!)

Dawson looked as though he had his face bolted on at Halfords

Classic :)

Dawson was a knob. I wanted hair like Joey :) beside that I don't remember too much about it.
Never been kissed is such a weird creepy concept for a film and pretty woman is grim but both utterly enjoyable if you don't actually think about what's happening

I think Dawson grew in to his head, it wasn't quite as bolted on when he was in Don't trust the B in apartment 23

All I remember about Andie are her hideous dungarees and sparkly purple eyeshadow Grin

RudeElf · 03/02/2016 12:33

That purple eyeshadow infuriates me! Grin she was perfectly lovely in her dress for prom and they went and turned her into a 7 year old with that eyeshadow! Grr.

Yes dawson definitely grew into his head. He was very funny in "don't trust.."

All this talk about Pacey makes me want to watch Fringe again, I just have no bloody time at the moment.

Ross is a whiney, passive aggressive controlling, stalkery arse.

When Sex and the City came out I kept being told about how amazing and strong and funny the characters were. I sheepled and watched for for weeks and spend every episode thinking what horrible people Carrie and Co were.

Same honey! I just did not get SATC. I couldnt see what people were liking about it.

One of my favourite things ever. So pissed off that they canned it.

I liked SATC but fuck me Carrie was a whiny self-absorbed cow. I re-watched it recently and was even more taken aback at how unlikable she was. There's only one opera there - me, me, me, me! Can't understand why everyone wanted to be her.

Samantha and Charlotte were my favourites. Miranda was good as well.

I think Showy did a great post ages ago about how Ross was just an emotionally abusive arsehole...will try and find it. We did a Friends marathon recently and DH was commenting that Ross was a manipulative twunt.

ShowofHands' excellent post about why Ross is a twat:

The thing with Ross is that he's actually a v sinister character. If you take his relationship with Rachel in isolation, it's a good sketch of an abusive, controlling man. He adores her, pines over her for years until he's obsessed. When he finally gets into a relationship with her he becomes obsessive and controlling. He's planned their life together, their children's names, where they'll live. He tells her what to wear with a view to making sure that she's not attractive to other men (on her first day in her new job he tells her to wear trousers and a high neckline). He implies she only gets the new job because Mark wants to have sex with her. He goes to her work and makes a scene on several occasions, he phones up and bothers her, he accompanies her on work trips to stop her going with Mark and then falls asleep, he belittles her job, he sulks over her ex partners, he hates her working overtime and tries to stop her doing her job. He then shags somebody else and lies about it, deliberately trying to keep it from her. When confronted about it he says he only did it because he though she was sleeping with Mark, making it her fault he cheated. He never accepts responsibility for it, even lying about it (18 pages front and back, he never read them and lies about it in order to get her back into bed). He tells Carol Rachel cheated on him with Mark. Even apart he controls her. Doesn't tell her they're married, let's her move in with him and has a baby with her but starts hiding messages from men who call wanting to date her. Drags another unstable woman to the apartment and humiliates her in order to make Rachel feel bad.

That's just Rachel. He also lies to Mona, dates a student breaking his professional trust, screams in people's faces, treats Emily terribly and on and on and on and on...

Totally agree showy

The whole show smacks of one grown assed man's punchbag for all the women who had sex with people who werent him as a teen. Even his mother took a few punches. Dawson is based on teenage kevin williamson (who couldnt have guessed!)

I used to absolutely love Dawson's Creek when it was on tv (dreamy sigh for my youth), but I have had to skip a lot of episodes when re-watching.

The thing that annoys me most about the series is all the crap about Jen being such a big whore. She whines on and on about how no one will let her forget her 'wild child' days... it's because you never stop fucking talking about it, Jen!

Dawson's parents are the absolute worst - if anyone is in need of being told they are a bloody bell-end, it's bloody Dawson! I blame the parents Wink.

I hate Grams, and Joey's sister Bessie is a complete cow. Honestly, nothing more fun than watching it now, and raging about the characters!

I do enjoy it. Getting myself worked up about how awful they all are. Grin
