It would take two minutes & you have 3 choices - support, protest. abstain.

What's stopping everyone taking part?

you can be as disappointed as you want I couldnt give a toss

venusinscorpio · 30/01/2016 14:15

I wasn't just referring to "fitting rooms". And you're not a trans man, are you? You're not someone who has made a conscious effort to pass as a man but is still obviously a woman. I imagine that might invite some comment and some men might have a problem with it. And it's certainly not because they'd be the ones feeling threatened by a woman in their space.

Bubblesinthesummer · 30/01/2016 15:50

I tend to agree.

Roussette · 30/01/2016 16:06

I wouldn't worry using a male changing room either, I've been in mens loos and on the continent you often share. Wouldn't worry about a man in a woman's changing room if it was individual cubicles - surely you can see the same on a beach as you would in a changing room, which you're not likely to anyway if you have your own space.

Hygge · 30/01/2016 16:37

I would probably have posted on that thread if I'd seen it.

I haven't, and I can't find a link on this thread.

Where is it please?

Does anyone worry about men/women in changing rooms? OK, wandering round nude in a non gendered, communal space is unacceptable here in the UK, but with adequate cubicles it isn't a problem is it?

I shall pop over to Mark 2 and see if anything changed...

Veritat · 31/01/2016 02:57

It's quite often advocated on here that women use men's toilets when there's a queue for the ladies. They seem to manage to emerge unmolested when they do.

It appears to be a taboo subject for the mainstream media.

The fact that the mainstream media doesn't choose to publish something doesn't make it a taboo subject. It just means that they judge their readers aren't that interested. And, trust me, they're pretty good at making that judgment.

Veritat · 31/01/2016 03:02

What gets me about all the trans threads is that it's the same people working themselves up into a frenzy about all sorts of scenarios that realistically are not going to happen because, y'know, we have a legislative system that allows all these risks to be thrashed out and catered for; or, if they do, are never going to have the extreme consequences that they're terrifying themselves about. And along the way they are also vilifying a group of vulnerable people the majority of whom would not hurt a fly. Ah, they will say, but some of them will hurt much more than flies. But the truth is that numerically many, many more non-trans people would hurt much more than flies. I find myself getting much more worried about those people, frankly.

MistressDeeCee · 31/01/2016 03:31

Just saw the link so I'll put in a protest vote, not that Im thinking it will do any good but, worth a try at least

I am sick to the back teeth of trans threads - too many comments that almost seem to chastise cis (yuk - that word) women for not understanding and welcoming trans with open arms.

The subjects been "done" so much its tedious in the extreme but I fully expect there to be another thread shortly as posters who just can't leave it alone will never rest until we all metaphorically sing "reach out and touch" and welcome transgenders with open arms

Why are so many "responsibilities" placed on women's shoulders in this life? Transgender women issue seems to be on the way to becoming a stick to beat biological women with, theres always something it gets on my last nerve. if we're not interested in hearing and knowing the ins and outs of the transgender chronicles (yet again) we should be left alone

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 31/01/2016 03:39

I agree with Veritat I simply do not believe there will be deluge of trans woman in bad faith into women's " safe spaces"

This is why we keep banging on about it. BECAUSE, legislation is being changed. And the consequences are ALREADY happening

ShortcutButton · 31/01/2016 06:54

www.pinknews.co.uk/2014/07/28/uk-prison-officials-concerned-inmates-may-be-identifying-as-transgender-for-a-soft-life/

There have been incidence of women becoming impregnated by a TW whilst in prison

There has been incidencence of TW accessing women's refuge and raping women who live there

ShortcutButton · 31/01/2016 07:01

Noons will ever convince me that there should be a system whereby women prisoners can become pregnant

It is totally inhumane

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 31/01/2016 08:30

Yep. Ignore all of the identity stuff for a second...

Should women be contained with people who can impregnate them? So the long-termers can get pregnant, move to a cushy medical then postnatal wing (basing my knowledge on bad girls a little here...), and then add another child to the already oversubscribed fostering system?
Or are we gonna forcibly sterilise all female inmates?

Lweji · 31/01/2016 08:51

Or are we gonna forcibly sterilise all female inmates?

It would work better to have only post opp trans, or have it as condition of entering a female prison not to have male organs. Or have hormone treatment at least.

Having said that, there is always also a risk from male prison officers and possible conjugal visits (don't know if allowed).

ShortcutButton · 31/01/2016 08:51

And the emotional trauyma beyond of being forcibly removed from your baby. Not to mention the impact the chilkds history, will have on its development/psych

Or the other option of course is abortion

BlueMoonRising · 31/01/2016 08:54

I abstained by not getting involved with the thread.

YABU.

ShortcutButton · 31/01/2016 08:55

Yes llewji, this needs to be a minimum. This isn't what is happening though.
But Tara Hudson for example was put in a female prison with her functioning penis.

ShortcutButton · 31/01/2016 08:56

Sort, stray 'but' there

ShortcutButton · 31/01/2016 09:02

Davina Ayrton is a recent example of a TG women who has been sent to prison, convicted of raping a 15 year old girl

Should they be in a women's prison because it fits their endear identity?

ShortcutButton · 31/01/2016 09:15

it is happening

I'll stop now
