To warn you all about the dangers of Foxgloves?

Outfoxgloved · 26/01/2016 21:41

Yes. I am unreasonable for sticking this in AIBU. Yes I'm fully aware that it's not at all unreasonable to warn someone about something dangerous.

Yes I'm also aware this post outs me, and so that's why I've name changed.

I'm hoping it's not against the rules to share a blog here? If it is, feel free to delete :) I shall take it like a woman.

Some of you may know the other me on here (since you know the story) please don't out me!

The story of what happened to DD2 last year

AlpacaPicnic · 28/01/2016 15:47

Oh god, I'm now imagining some terrible bee/foxglove mutation where the bees sting you with poison!

I should write it down and make it into a film. It must be scientifically plausible...

Outfoxgloved · 28/01/2016 18:14

It's be trrifid... No? Terrific? Triffid?

:o

I tried

Killing a thread with puns.

OP posts:
Outfoxgloved · 29/01/2016 11:38

I'll have to think of some Friday puns, but I've got a stinking cold, so this is just a shameless bump instead.

OP posts:
SmallGreenBouncyBall · 29/01/2016 11:54

dunno, my brain is on annual leaf

Outfoxgloved · 29/01/2016 12:08

Excellent! That's more like it. I'd hate to leaf it all like this.

:o

OP posts:
Outfoxgloved · 29/01/2016 12:39

I know I'm making light. I will stop bumping this sometime soon, I promise. I just want as wide an audience of people with small children as possible to see it and share it. It means a lot that you've all read this Flowers

OP posts:
Vaginaaa · 29/01/2016 13:41

Definitely don't want to leaf anybody out who could benefit from reading it! It's important stuff :)

Outfoxgloved · 29/01/2016 13:50

Thanks Vaginaaa.

Digi read it?

(Is that too much of a pun-reach?)

zoobaby · 29/01/2016 15:33

Thanks for sharing and so happy your DD recovered so well. I'm always in awe of the NHS!

Outfoxgloved · 29/01/2016 15:54

I hate to act like a bit of a stalker...

OP posts:
MrsMarigold · 29/01/2016 16:19

Glad she is OK - I knew foxgloves were deadly and was dubious about planting them in my garden think I'll rip them out now.

Outfoxgloved · 29/01/2016 16:23

Thanks MrsM Flowers

Thistle only go on a little longer.

OP posts:
Outfoxgloved · 29/01/2016 17:29

Maybe we should stalk about this.

OP posts:
Outfoxgloved · 29/01/2016 17:36

I'm really rooting for a decent pun.

I'm not really this type of poi-son (person? Hmm )

OP posts:
foxessocks · 29/01/2016 18:36

I've just read this and first of all I'm so glad your dd is okay. Second of all thank you for educating me because whilst I think somewhere at the back of my mind I knew foxgloves were poisonous I definitely needed reminding. I have shared on Facebook and told my dh to read your blog too. My dd is also 2.

You have inspired me to learn more about the environment around us. I have never been green fingered but I now see a really good reason why I should try harder! We are doing up our garden this summer and I'm definitely going to buy myself some identifying plant books and in turn I can educate my children too. (Think my poor mum tried with me because she's a great gardener but it was just never my "thing". I guess we can't all be good and interested in everything. But I now feel that it's really important)

Sorry for long and waffly post!

Outfoxgloved · 29/01/2016 19:11

Foxes, don't apologise at all. I'm genuinely touched. What a great idea to start from the beginning with your garden, knowing what's in it. So that your dcs growing up knowing what's in their environment. Thank you :)

Flowers (all safe)

OP posts:
JapaneseSlipper · 29/01/2016 21:21

Thank you for posting this article, I didn't know either.

I have a couple of packets of foxglove seeds, they are going in the bin - and I'll be careful about what plants and flowers we have around the place. Something I never really thought about before.

JapaneseSlipper · 29/01/2016 21:22

Sorry - thank you for posting your blog post!

Outfoxgloved · 29/01/2016 21:34

Thanks, Japanese. I'm so pleased that people are reacting practically and not panically :)

OP posts:
PreemptiveSalvageEngineer · 02/02/2016 11:33

I am useless with plants, so, thank you for raising awareness!

I'd like to share this onFB, and I know a junior doctor who would benefit from reading this.

No flowers from me, just Cake and Wine and Chocolate
