AIBU to judge people on their teeth?

Met a guy on Saturday night who just called me. I refused a date because he has a couple of missing teeth. Okay so maybe I'm shallow but it matters to me.

Why do people kid themselvesi that if teeth are gone at the back it doesn't notice? It does and it makes me cringe. So do rotting, or neglected teeth.

If you want to date, sort it out. Take out a loan if you have to!

My dh had poor teeth...rotten and black as a child as he was given sugar, sugar and more sugar by parents who couldn't be arsed parenting and giving him any attention so gave sugar instead...oh and didn't take him to the dentist...ever!

So, not only were they rotten they were all, bar a few, very squinty. Adult teeth are clean and white at least but still very squinty...something that could have been easily fixed as a child/teenager but wasn't.

He was also thrown out the house to barely cope financially so dental work as an adult hasn't been a higher priority over work and paying essential bills...getting into unmanageable debt weren't an option!

He does now attend the dentist with ds and I, teeth clean but squinty. He is still the same person I know and love despite this.

You probably don't understand any of that op! And, like other posters have said, you sound lovely! Hmm

My dh was neglected as a child as a result his teeth suffered and the poor bigger is dentopgobic he needs sedation its a shame

sashh · 26/01/2016 18:01

How can you see that his back teeth are missing anyway.....?

And why did you give him your number.

SauvignonBlanche · 26/01/2016 18:04

Sounds like the man had a lucky escape!
DH's teeth aren't too good, kidney dialysis fucks them up, guess I should LTB? Hmm

Mrsmorton · 26/01/2016 18:05

Mary Berry's teeth are awful. OP, you have bad judgement amongst other bad things

CheersMedea · 26/01/2016 18:24

The comedy highlight of this thread was this non-sequitur

Everyone can get false teeth there's no excuse.

immediately after a discussion about icy fingers up sphincters and Les Dawson.

What has happened here people? From teeth and judgment to jigsaw identification of posters and then on to icy sphincter porn?

Strangeoccurence · 26/01/2016 19:45

Icy sphincter porn? Wtf

LauraMipsum · 26/01/2016 20:54

I was initially going to post to say YABU OP, not all of us have perfect teeth (despite four extractions and extensive orthodontic work in my teens, my mouth is still crowded and the NHS won't do any more as anything else is 'cosmetic' apparently and they don't fund vanity)

Then halfway through I needed to change that to say thanks CheersMedea I didn't know that and I thought just brushing was enough. I am now going to make the appointment with the dentist I've been putting off because I'm terrified of them

And then I got to the icy sphincters and benefit fraud porn and just Grin Grin Grin

Sparklingbrook · 26/01/2016 21:00

icysphincterporn · 26/01/2016 21:07

Fibbertigibbet · 26/01/2016 21:22

I'm about to lose 2, possibly 3, back teeth to an extremely aggressive tumour growing in my jawbone.

I'll tell my husband to file for divorce.
