AIBU to judge people on their teeth?

Met a guy on Saturday night who just called me. I refused a date because he has a couple of missing teeth. Okay so maybe I'm shallow but it matters to me.

Why do people kid themselvesi that if teeth are gone at the back it doesn't notice? It does and it makes me cringe. So do rotting, or neglected teeth.

If you want to date, sort it out. Take out a loan if you have to!

I've just realised my DH has significantly less than perfect teeth, despite orthodontic work. In fact the work actually damaged and discoloured his front tooth.

When I first posted on this thread that fact didn't occur to me, because actually that is such a microscopic part of who he is and I don't even notice. He's also blind in one eye, which I genuinely did not notice until he pointed it out several weeks after we started dating.

Imagine what I could have missed out on if I was shallow and aesthetically motivated?

My teeth are healthy and functional but don't meet American bleached white cosmetic standards. I choose to spend my money, what there is of it, on other things. If this puts some people off me I doubt we were that compatible anyway.

We're all entitled to decide that someone's personal appearance puts us off a date. If that had been all, YWNBU.
However YABVU to be so judgemental about him as a person, saying he should take out a loan to improve his appearance.

I can't have any unecessary surgery ( that includes teeth out) as that puts my health at risk, yet you assume i do not care about my appearance?
I have a huge fear of dentists yet i make myself go to checkups.
