TamponLady, I think the left have been like that ever since this started, going back to the start of the Arab Spring. They are on the who ideologues who work from an ideology rather than pragmatists or rationalists who react to changing circumstances rather than rigidly insisting their ideology tells them it will all be okay because their ideology tells them so.
When the Arab Spring started the left celebrated, believing that the ME would be full of well organised prosperous secular socialist democracies in weeks. Anybody who suggested that weak or absent governments might be replaced with something worse than the despots it replaced was racist. But it happened.
The left told us the refugees were a legion of doctors and nurses and teachers coming to save us. Anybody who suggested ISIS might use the flow of refugees to sneak in terrorists was a racist. But it happened.
We were told by the left that the moment a refugee stepped on EU soil they took on liberal secular values instantly by osmosis. Anybody who suggested that the movement are large groups of young males from countries were women were treated like dirt might pose a risk of violence and sexual violence and a danger to women's rights was, of course, a racist. But, of course, it's happening.
I'm getting a bit fed up of the conversations surrounding this being so dominated by people who have repeatedly been proved wrong and to be doggedly sticking to an unsound ideology.
Every time someone voices a worry and the left come out to lecture that they're hysterical and it will never happen I just despair, because that normally means it's about to happen.
Personally I think it's just a matter of time until a chemical weapon or dirty is used in Europe. Because we have no idea what these people are carrying and they are not subject to custom controls.
The future looks increasingly bleak to me.
