This is just getting ridiculous now. France need to take this problem to the EU and ask for help dealing with it immediately. It has gone on for too long and needs to stop.

I don't know what the answer is. I think the UK should take anyone under 18, and their family members. Other than that, everyone else should have to apply for asylum in France or risk arrest. Not a perfect solution, but the only one I have.

I scared of the future, I think the world as we know it will be over soon
As dramatic as that may sound I totally agree.

OttiliaVonBCup · 25/01/2016 10:49

We're damned if we do damned if we don't.

I'm also scared of my own typing this morning, but at least that can be improved....

MaisyMooMoo · 25/01/2016 10:51

Well I don't think much of your skills/resources zzz since you haven't come up with any practical solutions so far.

I watched JC on TM. He wants to take those with family and British passports out of the camps. He didn't say he wants to take all out of the camps. He said he wants to put pressure on governments regarding the children.

The press really do spin a story.Hmm

MaisyMooMoo · 25/01/2016 10:56

I don't have one zzz othewise if I did I would be contributing it not being goady on MN like you are.

JC also said those living in the camps should be living in better conditions. He didn't say they should all come here.

He said he thinks we should take more, he didn't specify where from. It did sound like he thinks we should take from Europe ratger than camps near Syria.

VertigoNun · 25/01/2016 11:00

JC said people with a British passport, the wife and children don't. A uk resident mum has a British passport, her son in France doesn't, she doesn't earn enough for him to be allowed access to the uk. He said they are not earning enough to let the relative into the UK.

MadisonMontgomery · 25/01/2016 11:00

If they have British passports why are they in the camps?

Watch TM on +1 He was on first thing.

MorrisZapp · 25/01/2016 11:24

Of course it's goady. When asked where the money should come from you mentioned coffee? We can only go by what you post, which so far is empty of any solutions to problems.

Que jumpers are people with little regard for rules and empathy. I would rather help those who follow rules, they are less likely to be mass sex attackers.

TwistedReach · 25/01/2016 11:34

That's not goady zapp, but information highlighting the massive inequality. It is a stark point about how much wealth we do have in the uk, despite also having relative poverty here too.
It will be one example of many about how much surplus money we have and how we spend it on luxuries while 2 hours from London people are freezing.
I would be very happy to pay higher taxes to fund services adequately. I think it's shocking to say we can't take refugee children because of poorly funded social care. Social care does not need to be so poorly funded. This government have slashed provision to many of the most vulnerable groups. That needs to change regardless of Calais. The fact that services have been so savagely cut, is not a reason to say oh well that's ok then- that means we just can't help anyone else.

VertigoNun · 25/01/2016 11:38

I am not willing to take more cuts. I am just keeping my head above water. You must have a high standard of living, lucky you.

I am watching the Corbyn interview.

It's awful. He isn't answering the questions about school places house etc.

He just said the ones that come have settled well. But ignore the problem with schools etc.

OttiliaVonBCup · 25/01/2016 11:50

Of course you're not a twat.

The frustration, for me, comes from not knowing what the solution is and for being a bit angry with myself for being scared, does that make me a bad and stupid person?
I don't know.
