To not move on the train?

1004 replies

TheCatsMeow · 12/01/2016 12:30

I was on a very busy packed train with my friend and DS. DS was in a sling, we had the buggy and I was feeding him. We were standing by the doors (no one offered us seats!) trying to feed a screaming baby, penned in by others standing. There was no where we could go.

People tried to push past us to get out the doors and nearly sent DS flying. I firmly asked if they could use one of the other doors and I literally couldn't go anywhere. Cue mutterings and dirty looks!

We couldn't collapse the pram there wasn't room to do and as no one had offered a seat we couldn't move anywhere! WIBU to ask them to use another door?

This thread has inspired me to do good in the world, though. I'm off to learn how every single pushchair folds, so the next time some selfish twonk leaves theirs blocking a train doorway I can sort it out for everyone. And then I shall toss it into the luggage rack, swirl my cloak, and jump out through a window

maybebabybee · 12/01/2016 21:36

Don't worry about it hun XXX

TheCatsMeow · 12/01/2016 21:36

ihaterain i have asked her about invisible disabilities since she started the thread( which is when she suddenly mentioned hers) but refuses to acknowledge a lot of my questions regarding them!

donadumaurier · 12/01/2016 21:37

OP you got lucky. Congratulations. But you are a total selfish moron if you think some of the people you sent back weren't at risk of missing their stop and to say it doesn't matter because the next stop was only five minutes shows what a disgustingly entitled idiot you are. maybe you'd think differently if you were the one who ended up stuck on a train. Having a bloody baby does not make you special and you are going to seriously piss off the wrong person one day with that attitude.

maz210 · 12/01/2016 21:37

This thread is making me feel a bit panicky.

I'm 35 and disabled, I walk slowly using a stick and would struggle to stand for any length of time. I am hyper mobile and suffered repeated prolapsed discs since the age of 29. I live in Kent and since I started using a stick I've only travelled into London three times, two out of the three occasions were a struggle due to people not offering seats (to be fair I feel very embarrassed to ask and usually rely on the people nearest me to spot me and offer).

I live in fear of encountering people like the OP as although I would have been assertive if I had been the one wanting to get past you it would have ruined my day if I'd been put in the situation where I had to point out or explain my disabilities to you.

This thread and the OP will play on my mind the next time I have to travel into London.

Moln · 12/01/2016 21:37

Is that a literal literally or a not literal literally 5 minutes?

lorelei9 · 12/01/2016 21:37

careful folks - if the thread vanishes, we'll lose our clues as to who is running this Underground Railroad that smuggles nonLondoners into London, presumably under cover of darkness.... OMD!!! That's what the strikes and the delays on Night Tube are really about isn't it...!!

dumaurier - all jokes aside, I feel for you Flowers I hope you never ever have to go through that again.

TheCatsMeow · 12/01/2016 21:38

Kali what do you want to know about it?

OP posts:
SuperFlyHigh · 12/01/2016 21:38

OP look as far as I know NM is more policed than us... They don't like swear words etc.

They also like sparkles, banners, use of the words Hun and bubz etc.

There used to be a sort of rivalry between us, not sure if there still is. We agree to disagree if that makes sense. We don't slag them off here though because that's not nice and vice versa.

Veterinari · 12/01/2016 21:38

Look everyone. You're forgetting the key points. The OP has no problem with people having to run down the aisles to exit. And OP doesn't mind if anyone else misses their stop - it's no big deal. What matters is that the OP shouldn't have to wait for another train, plan her journey, fold her buggy or abide by the conditions of rail travel

Why don't you all show some consideration and empathy eh?

ihaterain · 12/01/2016 21:38

Seriously OP? Your friend is so inept he cant even fold a basic umbrella stroller? And they take up next to no room once they are folded and held upright inept friend must have been able to manage to do that, surely?

Takes seconds to fold one.

LilacSpunkMonkey · 12/01/2016 21:38

Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.

Threads nearly full now. I suggest we change the subject and ignore the attention-seeking, lying troll.

What good TV did everyone watch over Christmas?

I really enjoyed And Then There Were None. It was a great adaptation with the added bonus of Aidan Turner in a towel.

Charlie Brooker's 2015 Wipe was also very funny, as was Big Fat Quiz of the Year.

Anyone else?

ihaterain · 12/01/2016 21:39

OP has already said the trains are once an hour

KwickNC · 12/01/2016 21:39

I'm sure this is evil step mum under a different name - Yano avoiding questions, drip feeding (hyper mobility) etc.

Yawn.

Sirzy · 12/01/2016 21:39

Stations 5 minutes apart here are all probably 5-10 miles away from each other. What should people do? Walk? Pay for a taxi? Wait for another train? (However long that may be!)

TheCatsMeow · 12/01/2016 21:40

rain I can't fold it in seconds either. I think car seats and strollers are a fucking nightmare.

OP posts:
Lweji · 12/01/2016 21:40

I can't believe I had to stay off this thread to bake a bloody cake and the op is still around too.

Has anyone asked/spotted any commuter thread about an unreasonable woman blocking doors on a train? Surely there must have been a MNetter there.
I hope I didn't miss it, as I have omy read bits of the fucking thread too

maybebabybee · 12/01/2016 21:40

Maz don't worry, if this thread has proved anything it's that the majority of people are not like the OP.

SuperFlyHigh · 12/01/2016 21:40

veterinari if anything this thread has really brought it home to me just how evil, inconsiderate and unempathetic i am (intentionally?!) when all I'm trying to be is a humble commuter getting to and from my work.

Only1scoop · 12/01/2016 21:40

Loved And then there were none

Bloody brilliant

SoupDragon · 12/01/2016 21:41

So, OP, you have a shit sling that means your baby might go flying and a shit buggy that is far too hard to fold and far too bulky to fit anywhere other than baking a doorway. Perhaps you might want to choose better products.

SuperFlyHigh · 12/01/2016 21:41

lweji Cake hmm gissus some please?!

Natkingcole9 · 12/01/2016 21:41

OP seriously give it a rest, bit boring now fake/troll/made up post

SoupDragon · 12/01/2016 21:41

Blocking not baking.
